Great stay
This place was very clean, modern, and had a great breakfast. Very quiet and beautiful views. Definitely book a spa appointment ahead of your reservation, as they were al booked up while we were there and the prices were quite reasonable. Skip dinner in their restaurant - the food was just okay if not overcooked and there are delicious and affordable, local restaurants in the area. Great stay!

It was a disaster of a stay yo say the least, the first night of our stay the A/C was not working to which the staff response was that they will try to get it addressed the next day, the following night we come back to a pitch dark hot room with no electricity. Do not book this hotel

Lovely setting, quiet area.
Lovely hotel with outstanding views. Beds were very comfortable and room well presented with balcony. Breakfast was good, with outdoor seating overlooking the ocean. But there is not much to do in the local area and it's a €20 taxi to Funchal, where there is everything.

Excellent spa hotel, relaxing atmosphere, great spa and facilities, loved the breakfest by the sea. Lesser points, the complex is large and confusing, check in is after 5pm in another hotel which was very confusing, charging 3,8euro for tapwater

Fantastic stay. We had one night of our honneymoon in this hotel. They gave as an upgrade to ar room with a very large terracce (approx 40 sqm) with fantastic wiew. Good location with easy access to snorkling with a lot of underwater life and good visibility in water. Highly recommended hotel. 7 out of 5 stars.

Great chill out spot overlooking the sea. The hotel is great, and rooms and hotwl staff spot on. All bar one restaurant staff are great. It is a shame they don't lift the standard of the restaurant to match the hotel and its fantastic location

Comfortable and modern hotel directly by the see
The hotel is newly refurbished and very nice and comfortable. But, it is not adults only, even if it it presented so on hotels.com Room is spacious,modern,clean and comfotable. Spa area is free and luxuary. Atlantis restaurant and bar has breathteaking view on the ocean and the food and drinks are very good. The only downlight of this hotel is the staff. Nobody offered us the dinners, we were just lucky that the waiter in the restaurant asked us if we were on the half board,so we went back to the reception and ask if they offer halfboard... The staff in the restaurant is generaly a problem also. The guys are ok, and one young girl called Ana was brilliant (the only one who was also comming to the pool to ask people if the want to order some drinks, very helpfull and polite every time she was there), but the older women were rude and showing no interest - they let us stay at the desk waiting for seating even if there were few people in the restaurant and they never ask od we want to order more drinks,etc... Another problem is that there is no reception at night in this hotel and some guest were drunk (and loud) almost every night. this was annoying because I want to rest on holiday and sleep after midnight without beeing avakened many times every night... Generally this is superb hotel but this details take it down. If they solve this I will recommend it to visit to everybody.

Excellent resort. Modern, clean, well-appointed, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff who helped us with questions and tasks several times during our stay. Rooms: we booked a sea-view double, which was very nice. One of the best set-ups of this class/price-level that we've experienced. Bathroom, especially, very well done. A minor nit is that in our room the clothing storage shelving was butted right against the door. More towards room interior, or behind bed (as some pics show) would be more convenient. We did have a chance to see a suite, which was of course better than the standard rooms. Unless planning to entertain in-room, though, would probably skip it. Dining: dinner - 4 stars, chef is thoughtful and creative, and did not over-load the portions, which we appreciated as we normally do not eat 4-course meals. Lots of local fish, and soups in particular were consistently great. breakfast - 3 stars. The quality was fine, but variety definitely lacking. We were there 7 days, and it never varied at all. Swim/Sun: disclaimer - this is early May... Pools (2) are sea-water, so on the chillier side, but very refreshing. The ocean, likewise, you gotta be ready for it. Sunning decks are pool/lounge all very nice. "Adults Only" seems to be more of a marketing strategy, and not an enforced rule. In fact, the sign in front says "adult-oriented" or some such. There were a handful of guests with kids of varying ages down to infant, but in practice was not a problem at all.

Adults only but with kids ...
This property is advertising adult only hotel but they were kids. Moreover the services provided like pools and gym where only upon booking, and it is open to all the residence and Airbnb around, and closing very early, pretending COVID restrictions, while other properties on the island adapted to keep busy guests after curfew... Restaurant Atlantis has a nice view but food quality is ok for lunch snack, diner to avoid. Overall poor value for money.

Great Hotel with awesome Gym and Spa
We enjoyed our stay to the fullest. The In- and Outdoor pool offers flexibility by all weather conditions. Moreover we could do great workouts at the fully equipped Gym. Rooms are clean, with a balcony and a well sorted mini bar. Breakfast offers a small but good selection of food. Staff was constantly friendly. Massages are reasonable and with seperat Saunas with the seaview, we definitely would book again treatments there! The only point which confused us were the children, because here it's named a adult only hotel.

O hotel tem instalações novas e uma academia grande. Essas são as unicas qualidades. O atendimento é PÉSSIMO! A recepção fica vazia na maior parte do tempo. Os atendentes do café da manhã não são alegres.

To visit again only after Covid
This is a lovely hotel with stunning views. Reception and house keeping staff are very friendly and efficient Its a shame it is not walking distance from Funchal. One of the best features is the stunning sea view saunas but these are effectively out of bounds with covid with a failed booking system that they don't tell you about in advance unless you read portuguese! Breakfast has a stunning ocean backdrop and is normally ok, but has sadly always fallen short here, as does the food in general which you would expect to match the level of the hotel. Staff are like rabbits caught in car headlights and their insistance at a member of staff walking with you to serve you from the buffet a complete failure. Sadly they seem to have an attitude problem as well which has always been the case in Atlantis restaurant but is now considerably worse. A great shame and a serious let down for what is a magnificent property. Visit Hotel Porto Mare to see how breakfast can be done in covid very efficiently and safer. Sadly Galomar really have failed here. Despite what appears as covid panic they fail to monitor at all if people are sanitising their hands. Its very simple let it run as it did before and have one person ensuring hands are sanitised, or move to table service. It is a shame they have made the wrong decisions on how to deal with covid. This is one of my favourite places to stay on the island and I will be back when it hopefully returns to the old standards after covid.

Tolle und sehr gepflegte Anlage. Schön eingerichtete Zimmer und traumhafte, für Hotelgäste kostenlose Sauna mit Blick aufs Meer. Das hauseigene Spa bietet tolle Massagen zu vernünftigen Preisen an. Das Personal ist durchwegs freundlich und hilfsbereit. Fürs Frühstücksbuffet konnten wir zwischen zwei Restaurants wählen. Grosse Auswahl und akzeptabler Qualität (ausser beim Restaurant Atlantis ist der Kaffee schlecht, da konnte man aber für 2 EUR einen guten Kaffee von der Kolbenmaschine kaufen). Frühstück gibts dafür dort mit Blick aufs Meer. Salzwasserpool mit noch angenehmen Badetemperaturen und gemütlichen Sonnenliegen. Parkplätze hatten wir jedes Mal zur Verfügung. Toll fanden wir auch, dass das Hotel sehr nachhaltig ist. Bsp. kann man mittels einem süssen Türhänger mitteilen, wenn man am Folgetag keine Zimmerreinigung wünscht.

Die Anlage des Hotels ist wirklich schön und modern, gerade der Poolbereich oben am Hotel sowie unten am Meer waren überzeugend. Auch die Zimmer sind modern und die Betten gemütlich, vor allem das Bad überzeugt. Das Personal ist freundlich und spricht teilweise sogar Deutsch. Da die Anlage ziemlich groß ist (auch in der Höhe), sind die Wege ziemlich lang. Die Fahrstühle brauchen teilweise sehr lange und in manchen davon nervt die immergleiche Musik nach wenigen Tagen. Das Frühstück überzeugt nur teilweise. Zwar ist die Auswahl nicht klein und es gibt sogar eine Omelett-Station, allerdings sind uns schon ein schlechter O-Saft & ein schlechtes Bircher Müsli untergekommen und das Gebäck war eher trocken. Auch sonst können die Restaurants im Hotel nicht wirklich glänzen, wir empfehlen, sich etwas Umliegendes zu suchen. Das Hotel ist auch nicht 100&ig "adults friendly", da uns unten am Meer an mehreren Tagen tobende Kinder begegnet sind. Alles in allem war es aber ein schöner Urlaub auf Madeira.

Das Hotel ist ganz grosse Klasse! Die Einrichtung ist neu, topmodern und sehr stylisch. Alle Zimmer sind geräumig und schön eingerichtet. Auch die Aussenanlage ist super. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist frisch und vielfältig und der Ausblick von der Terasse ist einfach grandios. Auch der Zugang zum Meer ist sehr hübsch. Zudem hat man in Gehdistanz eine Bushaltestelle und gelangt ring in die Stadt Funchal. Einziger Minuspunkt: Der Pool-/Strandbereich ist leider öffentlich zugänglich und daher wird "adults only bzw. friendly" dort nicht eingehalten.

Nice stay for adults
A very pleasant stay even though our expectations was kind of high after reading online. There are a few things we've noticed during the week to whom it may concern. Doesn't mean it's bad but good to know as a guest. Love the environmental awareness of the hotel and totally understand if some of below are policy due to that: - No schampo or conditioner on rooms or in spa (just schampo+soap 2 in 1) - Training classes mainly instructed in portuguise - The room air conditioner doesn't go under 23 C and even to be winter here that is too hot for a good sleep for some of us - The sauna area is a nude area. Not all europeans are used to this and it would be suitable for special times when it's at least gender specific even though nude. (example, at least for me it's hard to relax when I enter a sauna and find a opposite gender genitales fronting the door or someone spreading wider then necessary) - There is yoga classes 2-3 times a week available, not every day if you're not on a specific group travel Great staff and service and good menus in bar and restaurants! Also explored a lot of of the nearby restaurants and recommend the Inn & Arts for view, the Villa Ventura for meat/fish and --> the new opened bistro over at the roundabout by RIU hotel - so good!
