The staff was not very friendly and they did not reply to questions asked in Hindi. Not courteous and helpful environment due to the staff.

Unique is more mosquitos. They even offer mosquito repellent for rooms and bat in the restaurant. Friendly staff and good customer care. Food was not bad.

Good hotel.
It was a good hotel and the stay was pleasant. Staff was courteous and eager to please. Gave us an early breakfast when we had to leave early. Our driver though was not accommodated well.

The location of the hotel is the best thing. It is located very close to the tourist attractions of Madurai like Meenakshi temple, Palace. The shopping market is also close by if you are interested in purchasing Madurai silk sarees. Also, near from the Madurai railway station and bus depot. Apart from the location, the other good factors about the hotel are the rooms, cleanliness, staff, and food quality. Overall, a great place to stay while you visit Madurai.

December Stay
My friends and I stayed for one night while visiting Temples in the area. It’s close to everything and conveniently located to Madurai Temple and shops. Hotel was decent and rooms were clean and maintained. Found the bathroom to be small and a little dark. Breakfast was included and had a nice selection. Overall experience was good.

As NRI, the hotel met our standards. Most hotels who attract NRI's and from the US find Indian standard bathroom that is unfit. whats more we were able to see toilet roles as well!

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The establishment was clean and well maintained. Proximity to the station and central location makes the Hotel well worth the money.

Never again
The room smelled like urine and mold. Was unable to sleep properly. Counted down the hours to checkout. I left the hotel with my allergies flared up and scratchy throat. No facial wash cloths, only large towels. Plus, no shower curtain so everything gets wet if you leave in bathroom. Never to stay here again.

Reasonably a good hotel
Generally a good hotel, though there was loud blaring music from sources outside the hotel in view of some festival. When the hotel is being upgraded they might want to consider lighter coloured materials and inprove lighting for their bath as currently the dark tiles used coupled with the poor lighting made the bath very dark.

Wanted to visit Mathurai with family for the first time. Astoria Hotel was a very good choice. Good food, friendly staff, good location.

Good stay for pilgrims.
It was nice. Good room but it is too small. We have three persons and the room boy needs to shift the chairs and teapoy to place the extra bed.

Five star quality; three star prices
Five star comfort at three star prices. Great personnel and elegant rooms. Excellent breakfast (I askled them to prepare pongal, and they did for everyone.)

Little Things Count, Too
For the first 3 nights our room had a cubby-hole bathroom with a shower designed to flood the whole area. We were later told that a double bed room was like this so we were moved to a room with twin beds and an enclosed shower. For 3 nights we were kept awake until midnight as staff noisily cleaned areas above us. And one morning we were awakened by the same noise at 6 am. To add to the disruptions there was later a knock at our door by staff even though we had a Privacy Please sign hanging outside. For 4 of the 6 days the tea was cold at breakfast ( in India?) and the juice was always very warm. There is free wifi offered but only in the sometimes air-conditioned lobby. The restaurant meals were very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff was helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Zentrale Lage am Bahnhof
Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral in der Nähe des Bahnhofs. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Ausstattung und Sauberkeit der Zimmer ist eher nicht so gut. Fenster lassen sich nicht öffnen und das Bad ist mit der Dusche eher fragwürdig ausgelegt (beim Duschen setzt man immer das gesamte Badezimmer unter Wasser + Toilette nass gespritzt).

Best hotel close to town
This is a very clean hotel with awesome breakfast, next to almost everything in Madurai. The service was awesome, despite our special request of boiling hot water and a bucket of cold clean RO (reverse osmosis) water everyday to give bath to our two year old. (There was one day where they delayed our request, but after my complaint they were efficient the rest of my three day stay.) YOu can never go wrong with this hotel. I stayed in Jan 2015 and the hotel was 1.5 yrs old. HOpefully, they maintain the standards as the hotel ages.

Excellent Value for Money
Not having travelled to madurai much, I was very apprehensive about where I stay. This was a wonderful hotel. Obviously I would have preferred a non-smoking room (which they didnt ensure, hence the 4 star rating), but everything else was excellent. Special thanks to the hotel staff!
