Its a nice place. At night we can hear from the bar maybe shouting although we open the window for its warm. But overall its a good place.

Really Comfortable, Clean, Service not great.
Very friendly and approachable manager and a few very friendly staff. The room was large and very spacious almost like the size of an apartment. Very clean. Really comfortable, high quality mattress on the bed. However, room temperature was a bit too warm for sleeping at night , it could have been cooler. Also my partner got the wrong breakfast served to him one morning, he asked for an egg with his full Irish and he never got it. Instead they have him mushrooms and he told them he doesn't like mushrooms when he was ordering. Also, he noticed a white scum floating in his cup of tea. We also did not get a tea pot for our table, only got one cup of tea each. Also, for anybody who is not used to noisy traffic, the hotel is situated on a really noisy road with large trucks passing at high speed all night. Also, the morning we were checking out, the girl who checked us out was not that friendly. She never even asked us how our stay was. We think it's really important to ask customers how their stay was so that they have the opportunity to voice any problems they may have had during their stay and this can provide valuable feedback on improving service and avoid receiving negative reviews.

Grand spot
This was a last minute booking for us for the Gateway Hotel in Swinford which we were deighted to get as we wanted to spend a couple of nights in Mayo. The Gateway is right on Main Street with a handful of eateries and takeaways around - on street parking but apparently never an issue with not having discs up. The hotel staff were fantastic - very efficent, pleasant to deal with and always smiling. The hotel is seeing many changes since covid such as no tea/coffee facilities or shower gels in the rooms but the girls from reception bring them up or prepare at the bar. Breakfast was good and filling - options between full irish, smaller full irish, various eggs on toast or porridge. One thing of note is that Swinford is a town which large lorries travel through all through the night and with the hotel being right on main street etc the noise from the speed these trucks are traveling at is incredible! Lighter sleepers may struggle with this. There are two sets of stairs depending where your room is and no lift - not an issue for us but good to know. This hotel does not offer laundry service.

Cathal and staff went above and beyond on our trip to ensure that our stay was comfortable. They staff were always super friendly and the food was really good. Had a great weekend in the hotel

Good hotel. Central for visiting many places.
Even though only 1 night. We slept well and the breakfast was 1st class, which set us up for the whole day. 👍

Very disappointing. We chose this hotel for its location and it had good reviews. The location was very central for exploring Co Mayo and the surrounding area. That is the only positive I can give. The staff was decent when you could manage to find them. Do not go in the restroom on the ground floor, you will want to run out of the building. The breakfast was below average at best. The bathroom door in our room wouldn't close. The wi-fi only worked in the lobby area. They advertise as having parking but it is extremely limited and may be a couple blocks away. Overall disappointing in every way.

Very comfortable and friendly staff. Only spoilt by the strong smell of cigarettes at the car parking entrance. Front entrance off street fine as was the rest of the hotel.

Good hotel
This hotel has friendly staff and is very clean. Disappointed by very warm rooms and no Air con. Left windows open which resulted in continuous traffic noise. No Wi-Fi in bedroom. And it does not help when you leave feedback on Expedia about check in. They Expedia upload during your stay instead of afterwards which resulted in an embarrassing position with hotel. Not good Expedia not good at all. Can't fault the staff at hotel lovely people.

Convenient for Knock and lovely and warm!
Stayed just one night and were looked after very well. We had a family room overlooking the High Street. It was very clean with a nice new carpet. We didn't eat here except breakfast which was a decent size and quality. They start service at 7.30 am which was perfect for our early flight. Good fast wifi connection. The hotel was lovely and warm with a nice atmosphere. The only down side was the noise of the road at the front and unfortunately a lorry stopped early with its engine running for quite a while at 6.00 am.

Don't be put off by the facade
Well presented large room and ensuite with bath and shower over - piping hot water. The meal I had in the bar was very good. Breakfast a little disappointing, but ok.

Great wee place
Was perfect for us, my brother stayed local and was a great base. The breakfast was fantastic. Only on sat night the live band stayed on longer than we were told but it really didn't put us off as we were on holiday and it did sound like everyone was enjoying themselves. Only when checking out the lady that was about most mornings was quiet rude to me about my bill, I had to show her my phone with confirmation but still she insisted it would of been just a deposit I'd paid, when I got to leave after she said there was a number they would phone, she then shouted to me at the door" oh I see it here from Expedia" not oh I'm sorry it's here. So looks like for my next visit I will look somewhere else as my custom obviously meant nothing to her.

Nice hotel downtown. Great breakfast!
This place was nice. Not the greatest, but nice. The building is older but has charm. The breakfast area was very nice. Great atmosphere and the food was very good. We needed a couple of extra hand towels since we had four people. I asked the hotel staff to bring them up but they forgot and never brought them. There was a very minimal staff though and the staff was also tending bar. The TV did not work. Biggest complaint was that for about three hours after midnight there were drunk men yelling, cussing, and goofing around outside the hotel on the street. It's a small downtown area and it was a quiet night. Their voices were loud and echoed of the surrounding buildings. We all lost a couple of hours of sleep. All in all the hotel was nice enough as we just stayed one night, then traveled to our next destination. Friendly staff. By the way, you need to bring your own washcloths for a trip to Ireland. None of the hotels provide washcloths. We were there with our 21 yr old and 17 yr old.

Hotel was nice for our short visit , but we were refused a drink 1.30 on Stephens night , we said we didn't mind having t drink in our room but we're told no , t manager offered us bottles that he cud get but we refused as not bein t bottle drinkers and we wanted Brandy and baileys , he told us there was 364 days left in the year so we left t hotel very disappointed with attitude . Residents don't seemingly have entitlement to anything in this hotel , he was quiet rude so we ordered a taxi and left .

Friendly Hotel
We had a nice stay at the Gateway Hotel, staff were very friendly and polite and very helpful, breakfast was plentiful, there is also a carverly at lunch time and La Le Carte menu in the evening. Would I go back there again! Yes, definitely.

Convenient Hotel in Swinford Co. Mayo
I stayed at the Gateway, which was more for convenience than anything else. The room was okay, if somewhat cluttered. Many of the fittings were old-fashioned. The staff were very friendly, and the food was fine. It was okay for a short stay.

Noisy hotel
We stayed in room 100. Stop over on route to airport. Got no sleep as we could not get window to close. There was a loose lid on a manhole right outside our window. Every time a vehicle drove over it and especially lorries it made a loud noise. It is a very busy road. We got be got very little sleepas a result. We were all very tired and a noted next morning should have stayed home and drove up early.

A night in Swinford
The hotel was very good and surprising in a town that otherwise has seen better times. There did not seem to be much of interest in the area and the hotel staff were stumped to suggest much. About 40% of the shops are out of business. This hotel is a bright spot for the town.

Convenience in Mayo
The front desk staff also worked the pub, and she was clearly overwhelmed on the couple of occasions I needed her assistance. Other than that, everyone was very friendly, very helpful, the prices were reasonable, and it was ideally situated in the heart of town. Lots of parking space for the car. convenient to the nth degree.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The dinner menu had a good choice of food all well cooked. The public areas are well presented . Our hotel room was spotlessly clean and had a lovely bathroom. The beds were in a poor condition and needed new mattresses. The walls had the paint peeling off in areas and the windows were covered in cobwebs. The breakfast was terrible, everything was fried except for some watery scrambled eggs. The juice was poor quality and the range of cereals very small. Toast was sliced heavily processed bread. Such a let down after the evening meal.
