This particular motel was one of the worst I've ever stayed in. Right away I had to ask for another room after the first one they gave me smelled like old cigarette-burned carpet (and there were cigarette burns in the carpet!). After I brought the manager up and asked him how it smelled to him, he only said it was the cleaning chemicals and I smell. (I work in maintenance and I know the smell was definitely not any cleaning supplies). The room also had a large crack in one corner and very old and dated furniture. To his credit, the manager did find me a room that was a little better. The Halls are old and dreary. In place of a fire extinguisher was an empty beer bottle. I joked to my wife that it would be a comfortable stay if I was in a "third world country." It is not in a good neighborhood either, being a much older part of town and close to industrial properties. My view from my room was a shipping container. I think two stars is being quite generous, considering they advertised breakfast on their website but in the morning I discovered they "don't have breakfast"; the hot tub was not working either. The PTAC unit in the room is rather noisy making sleep less than comfortable, though the king size bed was reasonably comfortable.
It says Quality Inn on the sign, but they don't tell you what kind of quality you're getting for your $103. I was able to book another room at a Country Inn & Suites in Eagan for $89 the next night. It was well worth the change.
