We've stayed at the Green Gables before 2020. It was well-run with good breakfasts, cookies, and wine in the PM. It was an old Victorian house, that was filled with beautiful period furniture and wall coverings. Today, it is still well-run, but the inherent beauty of the old Victorian is gone. Much of the old furniture was removed. Worse, the beautiful old wallpapers have been replaced with sterile, "neutral" colored, virutually white wallpaper with no pattern or too-subtle patterns. Soon all lamps and lights will be replaced with more modern items, removing the last remnants of the old period appearance. The thrill is gone.
