This is an amazing property. The focus on permaculture is unique and interesting, and it's located in a beautiful natural area. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. The room was comfortable, though two minor comments: (1) There's no AC, so it got very warm, and (2) There aren't screens on the windows or door to the patio, so there was no way to leave them open without bugs (and birds) coming into the room. But overall, we loved staying here and would definitely return!

We loved everything about Valle Escondido! It felt so relaxing and so safe for our kids to play and run around. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Très bel endroit avec ambiance lounge. Musique live en soirée. Le restaurant est très bon avec four à bois. Les sentiers sur le site permettre de voir plusieurs animaux.

Everything about Valle Escondido was outstanding. The staff were all anxious to help and warm in their greetings. Sian at reception want above and beyond to help us with dinner rest and other recommendations . Carmella’s warm welcome when we arrived set the tone for our whole visit. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. The trails around the property were well maintained, well marked and thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant had excellent food, from wonderful oven fires pizza, to more traditional foods and tasty desserts. We enjoyed our happy hour cocktails while watching the sunset over the magnificent vista. We would high recommend staying here.

Tienen un grave problema, los empleados no están felices con su trabajo lo cual lleva a una experiencia desagradable. Seguramente el mal clima de trabajo se derrama de la cultura impuesta por los directores de la empresa. No lo recomiendo si quiere una experiencia placentera.

We loved the grounds, the view, the beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly. The food was farm to table, and delicious! The ride from Liberia was very bumpy

Nature and views at its best!!!
What an amazing place! Quiet, tranquil, natural! Great views and great food. Highly recommend the night tours. Super close to town. Tons to see and do so book a longer trip.

Beautiful Hotel with some quirks
Pros: Location is great, grounds are beautiful and staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms are nicely appointed. Cons: Bed is small, horrible sewer smell from bathroom, 1-2 inch gap in room door. And had major shower/sink temp issues. We brought it to the attention of the front desk and they said someone would come look at it, but no one ever did. I have a feeling its just a hotel wide issue. The issue was you can only get scolding hot water or freezing cold no in between. There seemed to be a lot of families with children which is great for families not so great for couples or singles. Also, I was really looking forward to the yoga they advertised as daily, however when I asked about it at check in they said they currently don't have a yoga instructor.

Amazing retreat in monteverde
We had a wonderful stay at the reserve and farm Staff was very friendly. We had great nature walk on the reserve. Food was really good. Best pizza in town , with locally grown veggies. Great location not far from monteverde cloud forest. And zip line tour.

The hotel sits on a mountainside with fabulous views across rolling hills to the Pacific. It’s set in its own nature preserve with trails to hidden valleys and waterfalls. Save time to go exploring. We woke to the growls of howler monkeys and ate breakfast watching the birds off the terrace. There’s a wonderful lawn with room to play and a secluded hammock garden among the trees. Plumbing in the bathrooms is a little temperamental with scalding hot water. If you book the family kitchen room, which sleeps 4, be prepared for lots of ants.

Hotel property approach road is very very Bad. The Room was an utter disspointment, Dirty, multicolored and Stinking towels , Cracked Floors , cracked Cups , No TV , No AC , No Heater. Bathrooms felt unclean , old and unmaintained. We all felt cheated for the room rent we were charged. our compaint to the front desk was smirked off. While our breakfast was Included in the room tarrif , Staff was unfriendly and made us feel as if we were fed for free, refills were charged exorbitent for the quantity served. Overall , Except for the Nature and trails outside the property everything else inside the rooms is quite shady. We were given a junior suite at ground floor.

This propert is very beautiful and unique. The grounds are surrounded by beautiful forest and and an open area with spectacular sunset views that include the Pacific gulf. The food is very good and the clay oven pizzas are fabulous. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean with a very nice deck overlooking a garden. This hotel is very environmentally conscious but there is no lack of comfort.

The Nature Reserve is a unique place I have come to experience. Scenic Vista, beautiful trails, hammock garden, unique picnic spots make this hotel second to none for nature lovers. Very comfortable natural stay. The restaurant is only serves the food grown freshly on the Premises. Their sustainable organic farming is unique. Our family loved the place. I don’t mind staying there again.

This property was absolutely amazing in rvery way. We were able to walk the nature trails of the property snd see more wildlife than we managed to find on our guided tour of the cloud forest! The view is breathtaking, especiallly at sunset. Staff if absolutely amazing and have no complaints at all. Would definitely stay again without question.

The view is amazing, we saw coati and a lot of birds. Pizza was very good. Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly. Waterfall hike is great. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable.

The location of this property is beautiful. The view is stunning and you will spot local wildlife throughout your stay. Do not pass up the location's hike. The area is amazing! Even has a waterfall and a 500 year old tree! They work in the realm of permaculture and the grounds are remarkable. The staff is hard working. The restaurant is a bonus! The pizza actually really good along with the garden burger. In fact, the food was just delicious and fresh. The dessert amazing. Be prepared for some odd bugs that come in on the floor but are dead. They are little and brown and almost look like tiny shrimp. I would just look around in the morning and pick then up with a paper towel. Not many mosquitoes which was so nice! But other bugs so be prepared. Sian from the front desk was so helpful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kind. She answered all questions with a smile. Her love for the country is palpable and her willingness to add her insights of the surroundings helped us more thoroughly enjoy our stay. There is even a little mascot for the place by the adorable name of Vanilla:) Oh and don’t miss Nativo, a restaurant down the street, it was so good! And if in town, I highly recommend Arte Venus. A beautiful shop full of great stuff!

Beautiful views. Comfortable rooms. Mostly good breakfasts. Quiet location away from the busy roads of town. Great Trails of the rainforests with animals and birds (I saw some monkeys). Room lacked TV. I like fresh fruit with breakfast, and I was disappointed with the amount of fruit. Otherwise,the breakfasts were good. Don't keep food in the room as the ants will find it (they don't spray to be more ecologically minded).

Excellent experience
Excellent experience overall. We're a family of 4 and we got rooms 16 and 17 (one queen bed and one twin bed), they have the best location, separate from the main building with excellent views and lots of privacy (see pictures) . The only thing is that unless you are the first one in the building (4 rooms) taking a shower, chances are there will not be much hot water left. The restaurant serves very good food. The night walk in the reserve is expensive for what it is although our guide was very knowledgeable and kind.

Beautiful property with lovely rooms and delicious food. We enjoyed the walking trails around the hotel and had dinner at the restaurant twice. Delicious both times. Lots of gathering spaces and picnic tables. Highly recommend.

We were unable to get a hold of any staff member when we had difficulty finding the property. We then had several insects in our room on arrival. We were again unable to find someone to help us.

Great location, food, scenery!
The setting is absolutely gorgeous! Our room was great, the food was so delicious and the cocktails were creative and yummy! The hiking trails, hammock garden and night hike made our stay even more fantastic. The only thing that wasn't exceptional was the friendliness of the staff. Some were great, but at least three of them were unfriendly and seemed bothered by our visit. Otherwise, everything was truly wonderful; we would definitely stay here again.

This was a beautiful property. I didn't want to leave...the views, relaxing music on the deck overlooking the valley, the wildlife and hiking on the preserve, the good food, and nice rooms to boot. A wonderful respite!

Beautiful property. Feels secluded from everything else. Immediately next door to the butterfly tour that we planned to stop by. The waitresses were not very nice. The waiters were nice and respectful. When we asked for a burger without pickles and mayo we received an eye roll. I'm not sure what the objection is to having a burger ordered to our liking. It's not as if we asked for a crazy substitution or taxed the kitchen with our request to omit toppings.

This place was so absolutely perfect. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and always helpful with suggestions, making reservations, and chatting about life in Monteverde. The property was gorgeous, with pristine rainforest trails that leave from your front door. The patio where an amazing breakfast is served has a view to die for. The food was really delicious and made with care. We saw coati, agouti, monkeys, frogs, so many birds on the property. I would recommend this place to anyone. What a gem!

It’s the most beautiful property to spend time, awesome service, great staff. Unfortunately, we were traveling with teenage kids & bathroom door will not lock or stay close, bathroom sink was leaking as well. Someone came to fix 2nd day evening but was unable to fix it as needed some parts which is understandable but living without bathroom privacy for 2 days stay was very uncomfortable. I wish they check their rooms & fix issues before handing over the keys or fix issues like this as soon as possible or give them different room. Thank You.
