Good location
The place is located close to the beach and restaurants. We loved our stay here being able to do some work in between hikes and sunbathing. Friendly staff and people from all over the world stayed there so it was a good vibe.

Great Spot!
Hotel Aurora was wonderful. The reception was friendly, welcoming and clean. The shared kitchen is well equipped and kept nice and tidy by the guests and staff. The beds were comfortable and clean. The room had a mini fridge and coffee maker. The location is probably the best part as it's right on the corner when you get into little Montezuma. Walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, bars and two nice beaches. I will be staying there again.

Hotel Aurora was perfect for my short stay (one night) in Montezuma. I was solo backpacking through Costa Rica and stopped here in route to Jaco Beach (via taxi-boat that departed from the beach in walking distance from hotel). Montezuma is a great small town with incredible beaches and good vibes!

This hotel was built in 1989 and definitely has it's own charm despite the rust. Montezuma is a hidden gem along the Nicoya coast.

clearly a coward, doing reviews anonimous with low scores. We did a great job with everyone and every reservation through Expedia. We you have complains do it directly to the staff and not afterwards in a review with no message at all. How can we get better if we do not know what really was the matter. We are always there to help

Nice simple place to stay. Security guard at night was a bit overbearing but also made us feel safe. I would stay here again

Nous avons eu un check-in déplaisant. La réceptionniste Angela nous mettait de la pression pour donner notre numéro de carte de crédit, lorsque c'était clairement inscrit dans le courriel de confirmation de ne pas donner cette information pour notre sécurité. Elle nous a menacé d'annuler notre réservation. La salle de bain et la cuisine commune étaient très sales. Notre chambre était située sous l'escalier à côté de la cuisine. C'était assez bruyant et sombre. Il y a plusieurs belles chambres à l'étage avec des hamacs. Nous n'avions pas d'espace dédié à notre chambre, mais les autres vacanciers nous ont permis de s'y détendre et c'était très agréable. L'hotel est très bien situé dans Montezuma. Le réceptionniste Alex est très sympathique.

Start every day with a smile
Start every day with a smile, was the sign at the entrance. They really give everything a personal touch. My room was very clean and big enough for myself. I enjoyed my stay in Montezuma. The beaches are at close distance and also the restaurants.

Easy access to everything Montezuma has to offer. Clean room, recycling on property, mini fridge in room was a nice bonus and the outside hammocks were so relaxing!

Aunque el hotel estaba muy bien ubicado y el personal fue muy amable y atento, las habitaciones estaban muy sucias y con humedad. Teníamos muchos bichos en la habitación, que en otros alojamientos de mismo y precio y condiciones no nos pasó. El agua de la ducha era fría y aunque no habíamos pedido aire acondicionado, el ventilador no funcionaba

Below standard quality
The staff charged me twice for my room which was extremely dirty. The doors and windows did not lock well and there was garbage under the beds and very dirty floors and utilities. I would never stay here again.

Perfect for the price and access
I always find the Aurora to be a fine little place to stay right in the middle of Montezuma....not fancy...but clean...good hot water...AND AC!!!....not a little thing in Montezuma....and a very rudimentary communal kitchen can make for a very economical stay....and great for cooking the fish you catch stay away from the rooms that face the street....very loud, very early

AC is great
We stayed after changing our reservation from a different hotel with no AC. The AC is great. The room is in need of some updating. The beds are hard. I went to the bathroom at 2am only have a cockroach run out at me! The location is very central in Montezuma.

Good location, good wifi, helpful staff!
It was 94 degrees the day I was there. My room had excellent air conditioner to cool off! Beautiful quaint artist and chill community. Two beautiful beaches, fairly safe ocean swimming. Average age of locals and visitors, 30. Excellent hostile, lots of hikers. Loved my stay, going back asap for longer stay!

Worst location ever and Hot water and AC not free!
Worst location ever. Hotel is located at the cross roads at the entrance of the town beach. So we heard noisy cars, bikes and ATV all day and night long. On top of that, hot water and AC is additional fee .... that felt like a rip off and a way for the hotel to make a few dollars more on top of the reservation. And we stayed in the suite, which tell us how low the standard of the hotel really is. Will never come back, even for free !

Close to the beach
Close to the beach and in the centre of town, but loud parties in the town were heard every night from the hotel. The beds were also VERY solid. But overall one of the cheaper options in town and with a private bathroom!

They had just put Epoxy on the stone wall in the Bathroom. It smelled awful and we could barely sleep, not mentionning how bad this is for our health...

Don't go here
1. The receptionists were okay - not very good English but tried to help if they felt so. 2. We got first room No. 6. It smelled really badly to mold and it was hard to breath inside. We then got room No. 2. It was okay but the shower cap was disgustingly dirty. This was also in room No. 6. The personnel cleaned both, though. The cushions smelled like poo. We could not use them and made our own cushions out of clothes. 3. There came only cold water. Hot water would have cost 5 dollars extra. 4. They have a laundry service, but it costs 10 dollars/bag. Next door it cost under 2000 colones, i.e. about 4 dollars. 5. The receptions told that the way to the waterfalls was 50 meters away. It was more like 500 meters, which is good to know. 6. Positives: refridgirator in room plus coffee machine.

Room had no windows except for those facing a chared balcony. Reception was not very helpful, and knocked on door 11.02 day of check out. Ventilation in room crappy, AC costs extra, bed hard and uncomfortable. In all not a very pleasent night.

Je recommanderais cet hôtel car il est vraiment près de tout. Par contre certaines des chambres n'on aucun accès sur l'extérieur, c'était notre cas... Nous avons pu faire le changement dans une autre chambre qui était baucoup plus aérée. Il y a une cuisine collective très propre qui est pratique pour les repas car les resto sont plutôt chers et les espaces collectifs sont agréables.

Hotel Aurora var noget af en skuffelse. Værelset var ikke gjort rent da vi ankom, man skulle betale et ekstra, alt for højt beløb for noget så essentielt som AC, sengene var frygtelige at sove i. Det eneste positive var hotellets beliggenhed hvilket heldigvis gjorde vires ophold i montezuma fantastisk alligevel. Men hotellet har ikke en del af æren her.

Booking wasn't honored on arrival, certainly a big problem during high season. At first desk clerk seemed not to care. With mention of tripadvisor, she directed us to another very low budget but clean hotel. Aurora's lobby looked nice and it was well situated.

Muy negativa, hice el reservación de una habitación junior suite y me tenían asignada otra, con otras condiciones según la reserva, nos cambiaron a una habitación donde el servicio de Internet es nulo, además la señorita de la recepción nos indica que tenía pero precio con A/C... problemas con el parqueo, me solicitaron la llave de la habitación y no sé el por qué, entre otro montón de molestias como los accesos, cucarachas, y demás... sin duda última vez que lo visito con mi novia!!!
