It is a residence of university
I thought it was hotel but it was temporary area like guest house. But its quality is pretty nice to stay cuz it has a wide room for two people. That is all I can tell about this residence. It is good for travellers for short term.

It was tricky getting around the building due to all of the different aspects such as a library section being apart of it so it would be nice to get more of an instruction about the building layout and how to get around.

Downtown accomodations under $150 was a bonus. Shared washrooms took a bit to get used to but it wasn't too bad.

Front desk was "out" when we arrived from Montreal airport at 8:30pm. Had to wait in the hallway for 30 minutes. Night staff did not apologizes to us for the inconvenience. The walls were paper thin and could hear next door patron shifting in their squeaky mattress. Residence was across from a bar, so drunk young adults entering and leaving till 3am, yelling and laughing. Loud motorbikes and supercharged cars constantly on the street, and police cars with sirens on all the time. very squeaky hall floors so heard every footsteps from patrons using the shared bathroom and toilets. in the common room, someone made toast but blew a beaker. i told the front desk, but was told to use another common on another floor. the power was still not fixed the next day and had to go to another floor. Was awakened by a fire alarm at 1030pm, so we had to evacuate the building. 4 fire trucks came. lucky nothing serious and all was ok to go back after about 20 minutes. other front desk staff didnt seemed eager to see me everytime i had some questions. our room only had 1 coat hanger between me and my wife.the night stand lamp was missing a light bulb. On the other hand, the front desk manager was very responsive and helpful. l she got more coat hangers and a lightbulb. I injured my leg on a hike and she even brought down some crutches. of course, the price for a dorm like accommodation was reasonable, except for the above.

Unfortunately, being located in the heart of Downtown Montreal, the City is busy and often noisy.This is totally beyond our control.There was an incident with the fire alarm, and everything was okay and rapidly under control and resolved.Sorry for the other issues, we did resolve them as quickly as possible.All the best.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a residence/dormitory. St. Catherines is a few hundred meters away for places to eat/drink. Bixi and metro (Guy-Concordia) are conveniently close as well.

Tbh for the price, it’s a GREAT option for downtown stays. Bed are firm af so if that’s your thing (like me), you’ll sleep well. Reception really didn’t want me to pay by cash because it “gives them more work to do” but I persisted and it all worked out. Just felt that our exchange was unnecessary, and a bit strange coming from a business.

Reminds me of life in Canadian military barracks constructed in the 1950s. Rooms, washrooms etc fairly spartan with 50s/60s style. But everything scrupulously clean from floors to sinks to bedding and towels. When asking staff for anything, they were eager to ask in any way possible. Facility was nice and quiet, but it didn't appear many people were staying there during my July/Aug stay. However, if your room faces on to Rue Guy that goes past the building, you will get traffic noise, sometimes sirens, and the odd drunk/homeless shouting late at night. Suggest requesting a room that faces inwards towards the grounds from the opposite sides of the halls (I was in F block, third floor on the row facing out to Rue Guy). I would absolutely stay there again. Also, being located between St. Catherine and Rene Leveque streets, lots of attractions, restaurants, night life, cathedrals, museums, etc are within easy walking distance. Kudos to the facility and the staff working there during my stay.

Bathrooms were not very clean. One of them flooded and it took over 12 hours for someone to clean it up. Rooms were clean and spacious. Walkable to most things. Staff friendly.

i ask in advance for a fan since they have no AC. When check in, there weren't any fan in the room so when i requested one. They told that they will put one in my room and they didn't. Barely slept due to the heat, didn't enjoy my stay at all.

Ok, it is a student residence so I did not expect the room service. BUT for >130$ per night the complimentary set (=all services for the stay) consisted of one soap, one roll and half of toilet paper and one paper glass. One single towel for a week. All systems were outdated (plugs, no air cond, etc.). No kitchen but a living room with sink, toaster and boiler. Or no ome told me that there were a kitchen. Furniture and interiors are sad. So consider it just in absence of other cheap options.

Bad points: No hot water from shower. Water linkage from the shower box. Just one towel. Just a soap, no shampoo. Good points: Nice location. Cheapest in the region. (But still very expensive)

This place is not managed by the Grey Nuns and is more like a flophouse. The halls here the rooms are are gloomy, rooms were not properly cleaned, the shared shower stalls had water all over the floors and the locks on the shower room doors were flimsy and unsafe. My friend and I (both women) felt unsafe there and left after only one night.

The Grey Nuns Residence is the name of the building which is a student residence owned by Concordia University as detailed in the listing. We offer simple accommodation (it was a former convent) at lower cost in the heart of downtown Montreal. There is 24hour security patrolling the building and grounds and it is impossible to access the residence unless you have a security pass, which is something many of our guests find very reassuring particularly the many solo female travellers that stay with us.

It was basic accommodation with Metro, dining, and shopping all nearby. It was quiet and clean. I wasn't able to get in before 1600 check-in

No air conditioning! The day is 29 degree! Hot! They have only one noisy fan in the room, We live in a Sarna! No drink water, no wash room, yes it’s a university dorm, but, it’s $170 per night！I can’t fall in sleep whole night, never had such bad living experience, avoid this one ever!

The room that I booked was incredibly clean and very safe, lots of storage and breathable open concept, beautiful room. Spent the night with a friend and we were able to shower and utilize all things this hotel had to offer, will definitely be coming back! Gorgeous and huge building and it was super safe and there was security on sight which made me feel even more safe. Shoppers drug mart, dollarama and many dining options around! Loved the area and the building. Staff were super friendly and respectful!!!
