It was our 20th anniversary, my wife and I were looking forward to relaxing and soaking in the natural hot springs. This hotel offered that. We booked a deluxe king room with balcony and mentioned it was our 20th anniversary. I didn’t expect anything special, just wanted to let them know it was a special occasion. One day before arrival, also one day after we could cancel our stay and receive a refund, I received a text that the steam room would not be working for part of our stay. I was not very impressed with the room. It was basically a room with a bed, there was nothing “Deluxe” about it. The patio was a small deck with two cheap patio furniture chairs; they were dirty and one of them was actually broken. I also noticed in the shower there was some black mold growing on the bottom of the shower wall. Most places would have made sure it was sanitary.
Part of our plan was to go on a nice hike through the redwoods and return for a good soak in the hot springs. Unfortunately, the hot springs at this hotel were also “broken”. So much for getting a good soak. Calistoga was founded on the natural hot springs and is one of the main reasons to travel there. Our main reason for traveling there was to relax and partake of the natural healing minerals of the hot springs. The spa and hot springs were the main selling point and were broken. We made the best of our trip and enjoyed the town but as far as the hotel stay, it was a total disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel.
