Very quiet, peaceful place - with a fantastic view from the rooms. Food was good as well, and Chayote the dog greeting us was an added bonus.

La habitación se encontraba sucia, ropa de cama con mal olor y pisos empolvados, el shampoo MALO. Al ser la hora del check out presionando para abandonar la habitación lo más rápido posible, no hay cambiador para bebés en el hotel ni en el restaurante.

Beautiful property with an excellent, friendly staff. It was a great stay for the last night before heading to the airport. I wished we had planned a few more days to enjoy the local sights and activities.

Pequeño hotel en la cima de una loma con todas las habitaciones con vista a los volcanes, la mejor opción para pasar unos dias gozando de Costa Rica suficientemente alejado de la ciudad pero cerca del aeropuerto. Su personal muy amigable y orgullosos de su hotel, muy respetuoso con el medio ambiente rodeado de cafetales. Arquitectura muy interestante recordando a los "recibidores" de café. Jardines muy bonitos y el restaurante integrado al espacio con una carta muy amplia.

Staying at the Chayote Lodge is all about the views. Each coffee inspired cabin has 100 mile views across the valley all the way to San Jose. You're well off the road so you may see a random car, traffic noise isn't a part of the experience. The staff was typical Costa Rica friendly and the food in the restaurant was wonderful. Our only suggestion, is if you offer a sunrise birder's tour, someone should be there or let you know it's not happening.

Lovely place!
Our stay at chayote lodge was amazing. All the staff we encountered were so lovely, helpful and welcoming. Chayote the dog was there to welcome us on arrival!! Beautiful room with such a lovely view - amazing hidden gem - so peaceful. Loved waking up with the natural light and the sound of the birds! The food at the restaurant was also delicious and breakfast was wonderful too. Would definitely recommend!!

Ok for one night.
Comfortable beds ok rooms. fantastic views great dinner. Ok for a pre flight stay. Just thought as every other hotel we stayed at it would have been nice to have coffee in the room as in every hotel we had stayed in Costa Rica. I Was told I could get from restaurant which I walked to and then took back to room and then walk back to return cups. On checking out I was given a bill for these 2 coffee not a massive deal but thought it was really petty bearing in mind it was not the cheapest of options and we were in the middle off the coffee plantations

The staff were wonderful and the property is stunning. We ended a 3-week visit here with an overnight stay and it was a refreshing change of pace. The night views of San Jose are beautiful. They were out of several dinner options, but overall, a lovely experience. We’d definitely consider coming back on our next visit.

This stay was spectacular. We had a room with an amazing view. We watched the sunrise over the city/mountains right from our bed. The staff were all extremely kind. Breakfast and dinner tasted great. Clean and organized room. JUST AWESOME.

The property is super nice, but it needs to be taken care of. The hot water didn't work well, so we couldn't use the hot tub the fireplace is decorative and it should work since the room doesn't have heat, and it's kind of cold at night. When we arrived the staff never explained anything about the property of the room so we had to constantly keep asking things. The telephone also didnt work. For the price I payed I expected more.

Amazing off the beaten track lodges. Warm welcome, clean rooms and nice food. Staff were v. Accommodating. Drive up to the lodge is steep, and it’s more like 1hr 15mins from the airport. I would definitely recommend.

Una noche normal...
Basado en mi experiencia en otros hoteles de similar categoría y precio puedo decir que el Chayote Lodge tiene posibilidades de ser aún mejor de lo que es. El Check-In no fue para nada especial y en general el servicio del hotel puede mejorar. Las instalaciones del hotel son bonitas mas sin embargo no hay nada que hacer en el hotel, el deck de yoga se ve sucio y el sendero por el que fui a caminar se nota que no es un sendero como tal. Las habitaciones en un hotel que no tiene ninguna actividad deberían de contar con television por lo menos. El trato fue respetuoso y repito, creo que pueden hacer más para que el personal del hotel se vea más profesional y sentir que lo que costo la noche lo valio. La comida del restaurante estuvo bastante bien, la relación precio - calidad es bastante buena.

Totally recommended!!! Relaxation warranted!!!
This place is awesome! The best view you can find, from the hotel you can overlook 4 volcanos, different major cities and even the Golfo de Nicoya. Every detail of their coffee related layout and decoration is extraordinary. Location is perfect, less than an hour from San Jose, really easy to get there. Service is personaliced and you even get to talk to the owner. A great place for relaxation and bird watching. I recommend you book their Donna Gladys suit type room.

Breathtaking view! Serene and relaxing stay!
I stumbled upon Chayote Lodge during my search of hotels in Costa Rica. I was looking for a place to stay that was unique and memorable as well as in a beautiful setting away from the tourist craziness and congestion. I am so happy I booked Chayote Lodge!! From initially booking my hotel the email communication was prompt and friendly. I arranged transportation through Chayote Lodge to meet me once I arrived at the SJO airport to take me to Chayote and the driver was waiting for me, he was so very friendly and the ride was comfortable! Once I arrived to Chayote Lodge via a scenic ride up the paved mountain roads I was greeted with fresh hot Costa Rican coffee, warm smiles and wonderful hospitality! I am sharing my experience but I feel I am still not doing this place the justice it deserves. The views of the rolling pastures, valleys and volcanoes in the distance are amazing! Hummingbirds and butterflies share the space with you if you choose to eat on the terrace of their nice restaurant serving typical Tico dishes. There is a little nature trail on the property and if you're lucky you might see howler monkeys and toucans. The property's resident dog, aptly named Chayote, happily accompanied me on my nature walk. I adored my very clean and private recibidor cabin with rustic yet updated decor keeping with the coffee theme. There is no a/c but it is not needed (and I am from Miami where I love a/c) because at the elevation it is breezy and comfortable.

Beautiful views!
We had the lodge to ourselves. We enjoyed the views, sitting on our balcony and reading and relaxing. We stayed 2 nights, which I recommend. Food was good. I recommend eating dinner there, the road to the lodge is very narrow, gravel and I would not like to be driving on it at night. Full menu , full bar at dinner, not included in price, breakfast is included. Pretty flowers, interesting landscaping , great sunrises and sunsets!

El Mejor Lodge En Costa Rica
El lugar es increiblemente bonito, acogedor y sumamente comodo. Tiene una de las mejores vistas que hemos conocido y realmente vale la pena ir; inclusive si es solo al restaurante Quelites que queda en la pura cima del lodge. El personal del hotel es el mejor que hemos tenido hasta el momento: atento, informado, con ganas de conversar y siempre con una sonrisa. El restaurante es sumamente bonito, limpio y con comida deliciosa! Fue uno de los mejores fin de semanas que he tenido recientemente con mi novia y todo fue gracias a ese servicio impecable! 100% recomendado y definitivamente un orgullo nacional!

Only one night, but wish it was longer
This is a wonderful place to stay, just 45 minutes outside of San Jose. Incredible views from the rooms, first class everything! Great restaurant with epic views, staff and grounds. A very authentic Costa Rican experience in a first rate establishment! Can't wait to go back for a longer stay.
