Hi Christina, I'm so sorry that you caught us on our lunch break and there no one was there to check you in after your long flight. I am glad you had somewhere to put your luggage. We do try to be very accommodating with check in times and enable guests to do early check ins. This is in the special notes of our Expedia listing - any time prior to 12.30pm or after 3.30pm. Sadly you must have arrived just after we closed the office. Apologies for your wait to check in to your room and glad that you found things fine apart from that.

My staff & I read your review this morning and were shocked & quite devastated. At first we thought you couldn’t have been talking about our hostel. You mentioned about the mattress – our sunny ensuite room (which is $44 a night per person) has a near brand new King bed and mattress. We get so many positive comments about it. You talked about the soap being watered down. I recently chose that mandarin & lime hand soap with care (like we do) because I thought it was nice to have something a bit different in our ensuite room. We would never water it down. I’m really sorry you found it noisey – we provide really affordable accommodation & that comes with some limitations however everyone deserves a good night’s sleep so keeping night time noise to a minimum is something we continually work on. Re the cleanliness we wash everything after any guests leave (of course) & upgrade bedding regularly. Making every guest’s stay enjoyable is really important to us so it’s sad you did not have this experience. We have taken on board your comments & have spent the morning doing extra deep cleaning of everything. I hope apart from the things you found lacking that you did enjoy some of the many other things we offer like the free breakfast, free WIFI, free use of bikes, chocolate pudding & ice cream every night, log fire, caring/dedicated staff.

Hi there, So glad you enjoyed our ensuite room & slept well every night - we love to hear that. We've taken on board your comments re the kitchen, tea-towels etc and have put some more systems in place too make sure that is better. Re the TV - we've never been a hostel with a TV - we are thinking to get a projector so we could show movies which some of our guests have requested. And re parking - sorry that you found this inadequate ... post Covid so many people have cars since the buses aren't running. We are fortunate to have a reasonable size car park & free parking all down the street. Thanks for all your feedback & hope to see you back again some day.

Hi there, Thx for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm continually working to have the perfect pillow & I get such varying feedback from guests - some like almost non-existent pillows. If you are back please ask for another pillow - we are always happy to give you one to suit what you like - same goes for extra blankets, duvets etc
