I stayed two nights. It was quiet and comfortable. Amy went out of her way to accommodate my needs. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the really high, high bed which required a step stool to get in and out of. A taller and younger person might not have had the same reaction!

We had a great experience at Marl Inn. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The only reason I did not give exceptional to the overall experience was that the name of the establishment is "Marl Inn Bed and Breakfast", however breakfast is not included in the price. I don't mind paying for breakfast but this is the first Bed and Breakfast that I have used that did not include the price of breakfast in the initial fee or make it clear that breakfast is an additional charge. I would happily return and feel that it is a lovely location at a very fair price.

Garden Suite is fabulous
We really enjoyed our stay at the Marl Inn. The garden suite looked out on the garden through French doors. The bed was so comfy and the furnishings were all really nice, good quality without being stuffy or outdated. The suite is quite large and was super clean and pretty. Amy was very welcoming and made our stay comfortable. We also had a lot of fun exploring Yorktown. Would definitely return!

Lovely Inn in charming Yorktown.
Beautiful place located in the middle of charming Yorktown. Walking distance to restaurants, a beach and all the historic sights. Hostess is extremely accommodating! We had a very severe storm come through and knock out power. She moved me to a different room that was generated power. I would love to come back!

It is a modern property so if you are looking for an historic property this is not for you. It is conveniently located, has all modern conveniences and the owners are welcoming and friendly.

A wonderful place to stay
Loved our stay here! They upgraded our room since they didn't have any other guests. We took a nice walk down to the beach a block or so away and had a nice meal at one of the taverns. The breakfast was great! The lovely couple that owns it are very charming. We enjoyed checking out the historical sites in the area. I wish we had more time to spend there!

Welcomed warmly and shown the facilities. Right on the edge of Yorktown so we walked into the town that evening; quiet and peaceful. We had already eaten before arriving, and enjoyed our little kitchen for snack and breakfast; we did not have the inn breakfast since we had our own, but greatly appreciated the option.

Perfect for your Yorktown visit!
It was fabulous! Amy and Paul welcomed us and showed us to our suite which was perfect for our two-night stay. The living area with two small sofas was cozy and the kitchenette with table and chairs was well-appointed. The bedroom was comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was optional, but we enjoyed a lovely full breakfast with the other guests one morning and ate on our own the other morning.The Marl Inn sits in the beautiful town of Yorktown with an easy walk to the waterfront and restaurants. Weather permitting, you could take the longer walk to the National Park battlefield or the American Revolution Museum. We plan on visiting again!

Home away from home
If one could beat perfection Marl Inn B&B would be he one. We stayed there on two separate occasions within a two week period in two different rooms. The cleanliness, attention to detail, great location, ambience and relaxed compabiliry of hosts will have us returning again as well as recommending Marl Inn to our friends Mr&Mrs Young

Excellent room for attending an event nearby
We were attending a wedding at the Freight Shed in Yorktown and this was a perfect location! We hate do drive and here we could walk everywhere. It rained, but they very nicely provided umbrellas so we could walk.

Comfortable and convenient to everything in town.
Two day stay was just about right to see everything we wanted to take in at the battlefield, museums, and riverfront. Easy walk from B&B to trolley stop and even to riverfront and battlefield, though we used our car for the latter to be able to take the driving tour.

Wonderful Getaway
Great place!!! My wife and I were very comfortable in the room. The location is perfect. A very short walk to the water, restaurants, pubs, and historical trails. Nice place to kick back and relax. Our experience was so great that we are talking about moving to the area.

Our first Bed & Breakfast was a huge success
Excellent stay at the Marl Inn. We stayed in the Garden room and it was both comfortable and very roomy for the two of us. Nicely decorated and modern with all the amenities needed. Was very close to Main Street in Yorktown and walking distance to all the local attractions. Owners were very friendly and hospitable and breakfast was very good. Breakfast was optional as room had a kitchen. Grounds were beautiful and well kept. Only negative was a very firm mattress which some people like.

Wonderful location and very reasonably priced. Comes with or without breakfast. My wife waned the breakfast just to talk with the owners. Wonderful nice people. We even shared our phone numbers when we left.

A Little Taste of Heaven
It was my first time to Yorktown Beach. How have I lived in Richmond my entire life and not known about this place?! Anyhow, the Marl Inn was delightful ... just as cozy and quiet as being in your own home. Beautiful landscaping, which I have a fondness for. Within walking distance to the beach and several waterfront restaurants. Do yourself a favor and book your room right now; you won't be disappointed.

Not a bed AND breakfast!
Lovely place within walking distance to all sites in Yorktown, however-be aware that the breakfast is NOT included. Even though it is called a "bed and breakfast," it really is only a "bed!" The breakfast is $12 extra per person. This should have been made clear.

Best Place to Stay in Historic Yorktown
The Marl Inn, everything about the place is spot on. Location is perfect for a nice get-away. Easy, scenic walk to the waterfront and it's attractions. Easy access by car to anything else you need outside the town. Amy is the perfect host, never intrusive, but is clearly focused on making sure you have everything that you need. This B&B seems less like a business to Amy, more of a passion that you'll see or feel throughout your stay. The Yorktown suite was spotless and well appointed with everything we needed and more. Private bathroom with a good sized shower. Comfortable and more than large enough for the two of us (the suite. Coffee and Tea and everything else a kitchen should have was there. Don't skip the breakfast, it'll easily be the best meal of the day during your stay. Overall - Great value for the price.

When we drove up to Marl Inn Bed and Breakfast, we were delighted. It was a beautiful cottage-like house decorated patriotically--the ambiance was great. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly, outgoing young woman but she was just covering for the owners while they were out of town. I was fine with that until I was told that there would be no breakfast in the morning--we had selected this bed and breakfast even though it was more expensive than our usual budget. I felt that it should not have been advertised as a "bed and breakfast" if it didn't serve breakfast. I was also a little disappointed that our room wasn't named and decorated in a patriotic fashion like the others were--we had the Butterfly Room. Although clean and nice, it was small and did not have one butterfly decoration; it had birds (that seemed odd). However, the biggest problem was the bed. Although it looked nice, one side of the mattress sunk into a deep hole which was difficult to get out of. My husband and I took turns trying to sleep on that side but with no success. He finally chose to sleep on the floor while I slept across the foot of the bed. The owner did send us $25.00 because there was no breakfast served but I feel we should have gotten a full refund because of the bed situation. This bed and breakfast should have been advertised as "bad bed/no breakfast" inn.

However, because you were unreachable - by phone or email - prior to your arrival, you were not aware that breakfast was unavailable the one morning of your stay. We are very sorry it took you by surprise upon your arrival. As compensation we did refund you $25.00 for a breakfast that you did not pay for but expected. Regarding the room's decor, your room chose was a patriotic theme. It appears that your complaint regarding the mattress is an exception as we have polled every guest since your stay in that room and 100% have been satisfied with their rest. We take suggestions and complaints from our guests seriously, and therefore we compensated this customer appropriately.

Very quiet location in a beautiful location
Very nice facility; owner stayed up late to greet us and show us the room. It was quite spacious and appointed with many amenities. It was an easy drive to our son's house which added to the convenience.

Very happy stay!
The Marl Inn is a B&B built in the charming New England style - which we love! Perfect location, within walking distance to the centre of Yorktown and also very conveniently situated for Jamestown and Williamsburg. The B&B is located in a residential area, away from huge highways, which meant there was no traffic noise, just peace and quiet. The business is run by a couple, Amy and Paul, who were extremely friendly and helpful and we ended up having long, interesting conversations over a most delicious breakfast!

The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The inn itself is lovely, very clean and well cared for both inside and out. Excellent proximity to historic locations and waterfront. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

Marl Inn, was truly amazing and comfortable
The proprietors (Paul & Amy) were personable, professional and friendly. Staying at Marl Inn was relaxing, comfortable, within walking distance to the beach, fishing pier and historical sites. It was awesome to have stayed in the home of one of the signors on the Declaration of Independence. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Comfort and convenience; historic and picturesque
We just completed our fourth visit to the Marl Inn, and look forward to returning. We have stayed in two suites, both of which had a living and dining area, and complete kitchen. (We preferred a quick AM breakfast, and were grateful to have options.) The suites are beautifully furnished, and most comfortable, and our hosts were most attentive to our needs. We first booked at the Marl Inn to be close to family we were visiting; now, we look forward each time to coming back, to spend more time in the area. The Inn is a short walk from historic Main Street and York River beach, in a charming historic area. We found so much more than the comfortable, convenient lodging we needed to visit family - we had relaxing getaway, and look forward to coming again.
