I really wanted to love this motel. The location was excellent, very central to all Seaside's attractions. The motel itself was no-frills but recently updated, and it was quaint enough in a midcentury sort of way. It was very expensive for what it was.
When we checked in, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The man at the desk said that if we needed anything, he'd be happy to help.
However, when we asked to swap for an upstairs room, the gentleman at the desk refused, citing some issue with the fact that we booked through Hotels.com, even though it was clear that many of the upstairs rooms were unoccupied.
I cut my foot on something while walking on the beach, and I went to the front desk to ask for a bandage. He said he'd bring it to the room, so I went back and waited for at least 30 minutes. Nothing. We decided to find a convenience store, so I let him know not to worry about it. It wasn't an emergency, but a little more attentiveness would have been nice.
As it turned out, the weekend we booked was also the weekend of the Hood to Coast relay race, which ends just outside the Ocean Front Motel. Very noisy! This is not the motel's fault, but we were hoping for a quiet weekend at the coast. After the first night, we asked about cancelling our second, but they said they couldn't offer a refund. However, they did offer us a raincheck for a free night's stay which was a decent compromise. We'll be back, and hoping for a better experience.
