I was quite comfortable in my room but had paid an extra £20 to be upgraded as there was a private party on with loud music below me in the room I had originally booked. I then HAD to pay. Further £8.50 for the privilege of parking in the hotel car park which this hotel has only relatively recently introduced. I was told I could park on the main road , but its double yellow lines around the hotel so it would be a little bit of a walk down a very very busy main road, which Im hardly going to do when my car is full of ‘stock ‘ for work. The restaurant is STILL closed here, I was told due to the inability to find staff. This is a shame as over the years of me staying here when I’ve been on business in the city centre, dining in the hotel for me is a pre requisite . Room 1, the bathroom is very ‘tired’, & given its generous size it should surely have a walk-in shower.
The carpet in the bedroom is rather grubby especially around the furniture & behind the 4 poster bed needs a joy good clean. Rather a pathetic ‘tea /coffee ‘ tray given the stay was £135 for 1 night , 1 person. I was, it has to be said, rather disappointed this time.
