This is an absolute gem of a find! From the genuinely warm welcome beautifully furnished room with every need catered for - thank goodness for the ironing board, hair dryer and extra large brolly! - through to farm cooked breakfasts with freshly picked rhubarb and a view of the woodpeckers on the bird feeder, EVERYTHING was faultless! Apologies for gushing, but having stayed at distinctly average B&B’s this stands head and shoulders above the rest. All staff are helpful, friendly, happy to go the extra mile and the chef is worthy of praise - this is someone who knows how to cook!! The rooms are set in an old steading, full of character but with all modern facilities. My bathroom was immaculate, water was instant and hot and the shower was powerful enough for me. Bed linen and towels are luxurious and someone has a great eye for detail as interior decoration is above and beyond the usual. I appreciated the ultra quiet nights, apart from the occasional owl hooting, and arrived after vacating an unacceptably noisy hotel. I’m so glad I did! Location is super, easy access to Richmond and the A66 and a short drive to the A1 however here you can take a breath of stunning countryside, look out over hills and open fields, eat farm-laid eggs for breakfast served with local sausages and totally relax. Teesdale, the Dales and all that North Yorkshire has to offer is a mere hop away. This is a B&B where someone has got it absolutely right! Well done and a very grateful thank you!
