De ontvangst was op zijn zachtst gezegd bijzonder. De eigenaar (?) stond al met de sleutel in de hand bij de deur, maar die was blijkbaar voor iemand anders. Nadat die verwarring was opgelost duwde hij ons de juiste sleutel in de hand, geen woord van welkom of uitleg over ontbijt, wifi, nachtingang etc. Het ontbijt was heel goed: erg veel keuze voor zowel hartige hapjes als zoetigheden, maar ook versgebakken eieren (geen poeder om roerei mee te maken). De vrolijke eigenaresse (?) deed erg haar best om iedereen van dienst te zijn en benadrukte dat alles die ochtend vers gebakken was. Ook het avondeten was prima, al was het systeem om de rekening op te maken wat onhandig (losse briefjes, die ‘s ochtends op een stapeltje lagen). Goed zelf opletten bij betaling als je het op rekening van de kamer laat zetten. Het was erg druk in het restaurant, misschien was er te weinig personeel was om alles goed te laten verlopen (slechts twee personen in de bediening, voor drie of mogelijk vier verschillende ruimtes). Wij verbleven hier twee nachten en gingen ervan uit dat de kamer de tweede dag schoongemaakt zou worden zoals gebruikelijk in een hotel. Helaas was dit niet het geval. Wel: een ruime kamer met een balkon, een aparte tv-hoek met bank en goede bedden. Rustige ligging, niet direct aan de Rijn, maar als je met eigen vervoer bent zijn de highlights van het gebied (Lorelei, Rüdesheim,Koblenz, verschillende kastelen) snel bereikbaar.

A really quiet setting with plenty of outside seating areas scattered around. The food was very good and the breakfast surpassed anything we've had in Germany before. The staff were all helpful, friendly, extremely hardworking and focussed - if there was a fault at all, it would be that at times there didn't seem enough of them. We have every intention of returning for a longer stay.

We had the best German breakfast at this place during our two-week long trip in Germany. The guesthouse is adapted from an old wine cellar place with interesting architecture. It's located in the beautiful Rhine valley. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Owner/manager is such a nice gentleman and he greeted me with warm handshake. We highly recommend this place!

Nice vineyard hotel near the river Rhine
Nice vineyard hotel with the vineyard theme carried through to the whole interior. The spacious rooms are classic styled and in a good state. Everything is very clean. A refrigerator and a fan would be a nice addition though, especially in a warm period. Restaurant with terrace, menu offers good traditional dishes. Breakfast is excellent with homemade products. Hotel is located near forest and farmlands and well suited for a walk where you can spot birds and deer.

Great place with great food
Great place to stay. The breakfast is fantastic, the rooms are big and the beds really comfortabel. We had diner the 2 days and it was delicous. We will come back. I have added this place to my favorites.

If you're looking for an authentic German Gasthaus with a homey feel to it, this is it. Everything from the way check in is done to the sweet ladies who make the breakfast with total love, this place is a gem. Only a 4-5 minute drive to the Rhine river for breathtaking views, free wine tasting onsite and amazing food. Don't pass this place up!

The food is superb. It’s worth flying there from the USA to just for breakfast. Walking paths to neighboring towns along the Rhein pass by. The proprietors are friendly and focus on service. The room we had was large, comfortable, and had a nice view of farmland from the balcony.

Einfach aber herzlich
Nach einem 2,5 km langen, steilen Aufstieg sind wir mit unseren „normalen“ Fahrrädern ausgepowert angekommen. Wir wurden freundlich begrüsst und bewirtet. Das Zimmer war einfach, hatte aber alles, was wir brauchten. Eigentlich hatten wir uns vorgestellt, dass man von da eine herrliche Aussicht auf die Rheinebene hat. Dem war aber leider nicht so. Wir hätten uns dementsprechend besser informieren müssen.

最高の宿の一つ
今まで宿泊したホテルで最も良いホテルの一つです。 ・ホテルにワイナリーが併設されており、地下でワインの試飲ができます。どれも非常に品質が良く、中でも当方は甘いワインが好きなので、リースリングの最も甘いワインを購入しました。 ・周囲には飲食店等はありませんが、レストランでの夕食も非常に満足度が高く、値段もお値ごろでした。 ・朝食がこの宿の売りとのことで、手作りのケーキをたくさんふるまって頂いたり、自家製のジュースがあったり、その日は昼食が食べられないくらいに満足した朝食でした。 ・ホテルのスタッフが皆きさくで親切であり、ノープランの旅行だというとわざわざお勧めの観光名所を教えてくれました。周囲はモーゼル川、ワイン畑が広がる非常にドイツ的な風景が広がっており、ドイツが好きな方、ドイツの魅力をこれから知りたい、という方にはうってつけの場所です。 ・施設は若干古いですが、清潔でとても満足しています。

Outstanding! We loved this authentic family-run inn with amazing food and wine and excellent service with a smile. We loved walking around the vineyards and down to the castle over looking the town and then into the village. In the evening we had a fabulous meal and then did a trip to the wine cellar for tasting. Rooms were spacious with huge bathroom. We loved the wine, so we bought wine, honey and jam to take home. Breakfast was basically another feast. I wish we could have stayed longer...

Very Special!
We loved our stay at Guesthouse Stahl, the outstanding service, the delicious meals, the wine cellar and nearby sites made it all very special. The current proprietor is the sixth generation in his family to run the guesthouse/winery and the special care offered to guests is noticeable from the start. Our dinner was outstanding and we loved sampling the wines with traditional German food. Staff made sure our kids were happy as well, which meant parents were happy. Rooms were spacious and comfortable with very large bathrooms. Everyone loved it and we wish we could have stayed longer. We were happy to buy some wine and homemade jam and honey to take home so we can a remember our trip. Thank you for such a memorable visit!

Mooie authentieke locatie. Motoren mochten direct in garage staan.(gastheer verplaatste zijn wagen om onze motoren droog te kunnen stallen) Lekker gegeten ‘s avonds. Het ontbijt is werkelijk fantastisch. Heel vriendelijk personeel. Een aanrader!!

This traditional family run guest house just out of Oberwesel the building is beautifully presented and immaculately clean as are the spacious rooms. We had both dinner and breakfast here. Dinner was wonderful as was the wine from their family vineyard, breakfast was simply amazing. I did miss tea and coffee making facility in our room and apart from this the Gasthaus Weingut Stahl was amazing.

Authentic, friendly, delicious
Outstanding hospitability, really friendly hosts. Dinners are traditional and delicious and very jovial, the restaurant was packed both nights we were there. There is a wine cellar underneath the hotel where you can taste wine, the praedikats Riesling is very good. Breakfast was ample and had a lot of variety, and everything was good quality. The only criticism I have relates to the room: I could hear our neighbours shower, talk, walk etc and our curtains didn’t cover the whole window so it was light early in the morning when I would’ve like to sleep a bit later. The town itself has not much going on and a car is recommended, it’s a 10 min drive to the Rhine.

I would highly recommend this property. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautifully decorated and in an adorable village. The breakfast was more than we could eat filled with delicious local foods.

Super hôtel au calme
Chambre avec balcon très spacieuse et grande salle de bain. Très confortable et propre. Mobilier un peu vieillot mais déco sympa. Excellent accueil de cet hôtel familial (j'ai pu discuter avec le fils, la mère et la grand-mère). Petit-déjeuner très varié et savoureux avec des produits venant de leur ferme. J'y retournerai sans hésiter si je repasse dans la magnifique vallée du Rhin.

Authentic German family-run 20 room hotel
This is a great family-owned and family-run hotel. It is out of the way (a few miles from the hustle and bustle of the busy road along the Rhine) and is very peaceful. The breakfast was amazing - European buffet, cooked to order eggs, and homemade cakes. There is an honor-system wine tasting in the cellar - 14 varieties. There are hiking trails close by and bicycles are available. Our room was spacious and modern. In general, everything was very clean. The bathroom was clean, spacious, pleasant, and modern. However, I knocked the cleanliness grade down a notch because our shower had some mildew in the corners. Dining al fresco was quite good. They served 10-15 tables each of the 3 evenings we were there. The menu had a surprisingly large quantity of offerings and there was good variety. All of the dishes we had were good to excellent. The venison meatballs dish (a daily special) was especially delightful. I highly recommend Gasthaus Stahl for travelers who are comfortable in out-of-the-way corners of Europe - if so, you will really like it - it is a quaint authentic German family hotel. If you are looking for amenities like air conditioning, English-language signage everywhere, etc etc, it would be better to seek a more American-style hotel.

German Gemütlichkeit at its best
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Hays Weingut Stahl. Peter, the host was so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are beautifully decorated in traditional German style, super clean and cozy. The food is outstanding. Our breakfast was perhaps the best we have ever had on Holiday. Highly recommend.

Peaceful setting in a traditional German gasthaus!
One of the best small family run guest house experiences we have ever had! The rooms are exceptionally clean, the location is very quiet, being atop a hillside hamlet, minutes from Oberwessel. The breakfast was outstanding, with traditional German offerings and as much coffee and espresso drinks as you wish! I would recommend for sure!
