We stayed in the Tower Suite. Considering the very high price, we thought this would be the best suite. There were multiple bugs in our room (both flying and crawling, including an approximately 3 inch palmetto bug), the carpet and chairs had dirty spots on them, the deep clawfoot tub would not hold water, and the second TV in the sitting room is not functional because it is not attached to a cable box. Additionally, we did not know the room is in what used to be the attic. Therefore, there are sloping ceilings corresponding to the angles of the roof. These sloped ceilings render much of the room unusable and dangerous and have resulted in numerous head collisions. Being in the attic required using two flights of stairs, the second of which was very difficult to maneuver. In summary, the room has very poor utility. The advertised square footage of the room doesn't take into consideration the head-busting sloping ceilings. Also, when sitting on the toilet, there are about 12 inches of space before your head comes into contact with the ceiling. Knowing what we know now, we would not book this room even if it were free. As you can tell, we are very unhappy with our stay.

Cozy Bed and Breakfast
This is a very sweet historic bed and breakfast. The house is cozy and they were very accommodating. As you can imagine for an old home, everything is not fully updated, but it was very comfortable and clean. The walls are thin so you can hear movement of other guests a little. Breakfast was very nice, and they have lovely sittings areas inside and outside.

Will stay again!
We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. Staff was outstanding. One lady, who we both think was an owner, gave us 4 uprooted plants because I asked her what they were. Turns out they were Mexican Petunias and the flowers had bloomed during our stay. Just planted them in a pot at home. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a gorgeous property, inside & out. They have wine & beer happy hour and coffee & water available all day. It was a charming house and our room was exceptional. The fireplace in the bathroom didn't work but we didn't care. We had a jetted tub and relaxed just fine.

Truly one of the best hotel experiences
We came here on our honeymoon and wow it exceeded our expectations. The four course breakfast made us feel like royalty… it was soooo delicious and the atmosphere was adorable. The beds are very comfortable the sheets are super soft. We used the bikes and went around on them. Meagan was helpful and hospitable. And man, those ice cream sandwiches are incredible! This place was worth every penny!

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I feel like I got very lucky. The hotel called me prior to arriving just to check in and ask what time I’d be arriving. Upon arrival they gave me a guided tour of the hotel. The staff was exceptional. The hotel was gorgeous and the freebies (free ice cream sandwiches, s’mores, cappuccino machine, etc) were amazing.

The Very Best!
This is a beautiful place and the attendant was so accommodating. The rooms are immaculate and they pay very close attention to detail in terms of even the little things. I was surprised to have a fresh sprig of lavender and a delicious piece of pound cake in my room when I arrived. Parking is free. This place is Southern hospitality realized.

WOW. This place is truly a gem. As soon as I walked into the door on a cold and rainy night, Pam walked up and greeted me with a warm smile and open arms! Pam gave me the full house tour and made me feel right at home. Chip was excellent in the morning assisting me with my coffee and breakfast, making sure I had everything I needed! Please do yourself a favor and stay here. The rooms were immaculate, the beds were so comfortable and the garden view is beautiful. I can’t wait to be back!

We were greeted with so much warmth and the Inn felt like home. We felt that the people who run the Inn were truly some of the best in the hospitality industry. They truly took the time to share with us the history of the area and what makes Manteo special to see. The food was absolutely amazing, the rooms were fabulous with very comfortable beds and linens along with a beautiful space to explore. Thanks to Pam & Chip for giving us a wonderful weekend away!

Pam, Deb, Lee, Jerry & Chip area and the entire staff are top-notch. The 4-course breakfasts are exceptional. Many lovely area inside & out to chat with fellow guests or just read or relax. Definitely recommend this property though may want to talk with them in advance if there is any problem with steps. Our room was on the third floor and it was gorgeous—well worth the climb—but would suggest talking with them if steps are an issue.

This is a unique and magical place to visit. What makes the experience so special are your hosts, Pam and Chip..as soon as we arrived we felt like we were “home” at our weekend getaway.. room was ready, comfy and clean. We were fortunate to have our anniversary dinner prepared at the inn on our 2nd night by a local chef, who prepared our steak tenderloins to perfection, and to top that - bananas foster for dessert! This is a special place...homemade ice cream sandwiches, wine and cheese in the afternoon..and, or just sit in the living room with Pam and have a chat. We will definitely be back... Your experience at the Inn is their number one priority ...ours was top notch!

Our visit at The White Doe Inn was Amazing!! The Inn Keeper, Pam, made us feel so at home that it was hard to leave - we already miss her!! The entire staff were so kind and there is not enough good things we can say about the home!! We would totally recommend The White Doe Inn!! Make sure you get to meet "Peanut"

From the moment we arrived until we left, we were pampered and made to feel like old friends. Pam is a gem and manages the inn with skill and love. Justin is an inspired chef. I'm still thinking about the asparagus trio and the morning grits. Oh, and let's not forget the buttermilk pie! It's an easy review when two weary people leave this place and these people both rested and energized by the experience. Until the next time!

We loved the old home atmosphere. We were there in the winter so we could not enjoy the ground like we would have like. I am sure beautiful in the spring. Rooms were very spacious. We stayed 2 nights and both breakfast were fantastic. We ate dinner there one night and that was to die for. Every night wine and snakes were provided. Pam was a delight.

Wonderful B&B in Manteo!
Our stay at the White Doe Inn was amazing. The house is wonderful and the Inn keeper Pam was such a delight. She made us feel right at home and we wish that we had been able to stay longer. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. We will be visiting again in the very near future.

Relaxing, well taken care of, great room!
The start of our stay was a little choppy as we were made aware of the "no kids under 12" policy upon our arrival. We so happened to be there, after driving 3 hours from Raleigh, with our 7 year old. Nowhere on Hotels.com did I see anything about a "no children" policy. At any rate, the hotel manager was very understanding and did, ultimately, allow us to stay. From that point on, we couldn't have imagined a better stay. The breakfasts were amazing (biscuits, croissants, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, fruit...I could go on and on). The grounds were also very beautiful. The rope swing was a major hit with our daughter. There were plenty of places to sit around and just relax, which was a major component of this weekend. The room was a dream! The queen size bed was a little small for the 3 of us...but they had a mattress inflated for our second night there and everyone was on cloud nine after that. The bathtub was one of the most comfortable bathtubs I've ever been in. And it was really cool to see how retro it was (especially the handles). Absolutely loved the robes, too...awesome touch! The balcony was the thing of dreams...especially our first morning when we actually got out there in time to see the sun rise. They also allowed us to ride bikes (I rode my first tandem bike with my daughter) into town, which was a lot of fun. One drawback to the surrounding area is that everything closes at 8pm. But with a kid...it wasn't like we were partying! :p
