Disappointing Experience
The hotel did not meet expectations or the description online and we had a very disappointing stay. The private bathroom was outside the room across from the stairway with no key given, so anyone could use it even though it was to be private for you. If I knew the private bathroom was not ensuite, I would not have booked this hotel. The bathtub has a hand-held shower spray but water was either scalding hot or cold-difficult to mix to get warm water. Except for the four-poster bed, nothing else was up to standard for a 5 star rated hotel. Sofa behind the bed faced the wall with no coffee table. Kettle and cups on the window sill (no toaster per description), TV screen small as a laptop screen on the other window sill. No paper tissues provided. Internet not so strong. Owner not receptive to feedback and did not indicate that online description would be corrected. This is not even on par with a 3 star hotel.

What a lovely warm reception. Romney made us so welcome. We couldn’t have asked for a more lovely place to stay. Buscot Manor is absolutely beautiful. 5 Star all the way (even more). We have met a a super hostess, a super family and will return to stay whenever we can. I can only recommend this wonderful B&B. Lynda & Glenn

Comfortable stay
Very warm welcome. Excellent breakfast. Only comment is that not en suite facilities which one would expect from 5* accommodation.

Buscot Manor is lovely and is well placed to explore beautiful English countryside. I was given a very warm welcome. My room was small but comfortable and clean. I had a lovely walk down to the Thames. It was quiet and I had a good night's sleep and an excellent breakfast.

As a solo traveller I enjoyed a warm welcome at Buscot Manor .A chance to stay in a beautiful and historic house in a secluded countryside location .

Lovely hotel
I booked this hotel for my parents for a night away for their anniversary. The room was not as described on expedia, it was described as a double room with private bathroom. When my parents questioned the shared bathroom facilities it was stated that no room had a private bathroom. Check-in 6:30-10pm I got a phone call at 5pm from the lovely lady who runs the hotel asking what time they were arriving as check in was actually from 4:30. This room was proved at a higher price based on the fact it had a private bathroom and this was not the case. My mother has arthritis and feels the cold, and by day is a shorts in all weather guy. Yet when it came to sleeping they both used the provided dressing gowns to wrap up in before getting into bed as it was so cold in the room

Back again
A perfect stay again with Romney, the whole home was very Christmassy and cosy, I slept well in the comfy single bed and the breakfast as always was stellar. I'll definitely be back when Im back in the area.

My second stay with Romney, was a joy as always.
Buscot Manor is beautiful property that offers very comfortable accommodation and superb breakfasts, all in a family orientated atmosphere. Theres always an emphasis on guests mixing and chatting (or not, thats fine too). And you must meet their dog!!! I very much look forward to visiting again soon...

A different experience
I was first attracted to this bed and breakfast because it was cheap and yet had five stars. It turned out to be so affordable because the room I booked for my son and I was only meant to be a single. For some reason it was listed as having twin beds. Thankfully for us, the proprietors very kindly said we could have a bigger room at the same price, and it was a super room. It had a four poster bed that not only looked grand, but was really comfortable too, and a quilt that was not so thick you roasted under it. The room also had a luxurious sofa too, and a varied selection of teas and coffees. There were two things that let the place down a bit. Firstly the rooms didn't have their own bathrooms. Now I wouldn't particularly mind sharing, but the bathrooms themselves, while clean, were not as modern as they might have been. Yeah, I know it was an oldy-worldy place, but they might have had a good shower in one of the two bathrooms, rather than one that feeds off the taps that you have to hold up yourself and be careful not to spray the floor as there was no shower curtain (the baths were those ones with feet that stand in the middle of the room, well, not quite the middle, but not next to a wall). The rooms had mini wash basins, but no soap provided. There was a jar of soaps in one of the bathrooms though, so maybe you were meant to help yourself. The other slight downside was breakfast, but I'll describe that lower down as I'm running out of characters.

The owners were so friendly and the food perfect. They fitted themselves around my disorganisation. The house was amazing 400 years of history. Will be going again...

Nice old-fashioned small manor house
We liked our stay very much, especially the room interior with an antique four poster bed(which was very comfortable and there was a lot of space for a loving couple!!!!) and other antiquities. The breakfast was excellent with eggs from the own hens and I didn`t need to have even a snack until afternoon. Even my boyfriend did not die from hunger after 2 hours. The owner was also very nice Lady. The only Thing was that the bathroom facilities were not very good- I liked the old-fashioned bath but there was not enough pressure in the shower so I had problems to get my long hair free from shampoo! But we really liked the stay and if we come to this area again would like to stay again. Garden also very nice! Only a cat was missing!!

Warm and welcome
The people who own the place are more than helpful and accommodating. I didn't spend much time in the hotel but when I was there I was made to feel welcome. The cooked breakfast was very nice, and there was a large selection of other things if you didn't want one.

Charming country B & B in lovely period farmhouse
Solo traveler is likely to be treated as family in this very amiable establishment. Glorious countryside, Kemscott Manor, the Trout Inn at Lechlade, all very close.

Lovely Country Hotel
A beautiful country house in a nice location. Nothing is to much trouble and a fantastic breakfast choice. Lovely host's and great rooms.

Lovely four poster bed
Had a great welcome by the host with pot of tea and then she walked into our room with wellies on! You could not lock your room which felt very uncomfortable as there was no key available. There is only one plug socket in the room hence the two extension leads which I found quite disturbing and a Health & Safety issue. You were served a full cooked breakfast without being asked what you would like and there was no mention of allergies etc. The bathroom is not ensure and we found this a bit of a pain. The issue dressing gowns are dated and somewhat flimsy and weren't the freshest smelling of items! There is no bar or drinking facilities. This has an AA 5 Star rating which I find incredible. It certainly merits no more than a 3 Star rating. I would not recommend this hotel after our stay.

Like stepping into a Jane Austen novel!
Romney and her family were so welcoming and hospitable! The house had so much charm and character, you felt like you were stepping into a Jane Austen novel! The stone floor in the entry, the four poster beds, the claw foot bathtubs. It was perfect. We got to walk around the farm a little bit and see the chickens, rabbit, horse, and dogs. We needed to leave early, and Romney accommodated us for breakfast at an earlier time than usual. It was just what we were looking for in the English countryside!
