This was really good value for money. The staff were great, the food was great - breakfast wonderful! The room was spotless but a little tired. I travel a lot for work and always try to stay in local businesses not chains, this was a great local pub with rooms. Would definitely return

Needs to be refurbished, bathroom was terrible
Hi, the rooms need to be refurbished, in particular the shower. Very week water pressure, it reminded me of bnbs from 20 years ago, the difference is these use to be £20 so you could understand. Prices are now 4-5 times the price so the least you should get is a good shower.

Lovely stay in a great location
A really lovely stay in a gorgeous pub. A really warm welcome, a spacious room and the Sunday roast was one of the best I’ve ever had.

You get what you pay for
Location was good: right in the middle of the town, which itself is a very expensive town (restaurants etc). We had a terrible night's sleep however because of several things: There was a fire escape sign in the room which was on all through the night, illuminating the whole room up green! There was a creaky door below the room at the entrance to the pub which creaked every time it was open. This woke us up at 7am as soon as the pub opened. The room was cold and the radiator didn't work so they supplied an electric heater which was ok but we had to get under the covers to keep warm. The breakfast was ok but quite a small portion. Overall, this was the most affordable place we could find in the costwolds but we wouldn't stay again as we were both exhausted the next day from lack of sleep

During this Covid Pandemic I had to cancel my trip to the Cotswolds. I was able to cancel most of my reservations and plan for 2021, but unfortunately this hotel wouldn't cancel my reservations. Sad and disappointing!

A wonderful pub with comfortable, well appointed accommodation. I also enjoyed an excellent meal. Ideally located as a base to explore the Cotswolds. Parking is easy and the staff are exceptionally friendly. If you are planning to stay in the Cotswolds and in Burford in particular then try here first!

The room comfortable, the food enjoyable. But the raucous noise till midnight the second night from the bar below prevented sleep.

Very pleasant place to stay in Burford.
Warm welcome on arrival, very nice room and food at the bar in the evening was exceptionally good. Great breakfast too. Perfect location for exploring Burford and the surrounding area. Car park is quite small, but free to use, but there is a large free car park just down the road if the hotel car park is full.

Le personnel est compétent et très serviable. Le restaurant est excellent. La literie est très confortable. L’endroit est calme. L’acces aux principales attractions de l’endroit est facile. On peut rayonner dans les Costwolds en restant à Burford (avec une voiture). Nous sommes allés à Oxford et à Bleinheim Palace. De plus l’hotel est très proche de Bourton on the water et de Chipping Camden et Broadway, et des villages du Costwolds.

Lovely Sunday roast
Lovely pub full of Cotswold charm. Very busy when we arrived, but we were served a delicious Sunday dinner with a superb pint of beer! Our room was small but clean. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The bed was rather soft and warn, with the mattress sinking in the middle making for an uncomfortable sleep and the electric shower was poor with weak pressure and variable temperature while using it. The fan provided was inadequate for the room having very little effect on the air flow. Breakfast was freshly prepared to order and made with local ingredients. We enjoyed our stay- a few adjustments here and there would make this pub outstanding.

Mid priced Hotel
The Royal is a mid-priced hotel in Burford. The room was large ,if not dated and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable. The hotel is in excellent location but so are many other hotels better equipped for dinners. The owner was pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. The beer garden was a bit dated. Overall a pleasant stay.

Relaxed stay!
Enjoyable stay, friendly staff with a relaxed pub atmosphere. Like the fact the rooms are reachable from a separate entrance at the back. Loads of eateries within a 1 minute walk

Large room with a comfy bed. WiFi had excellent connection. I didn't need anything extra for the room but was told to ask if I needed anything. The food was amazing, prices were ok, but for the food it was worth it. Would totally recommend the Normandy burger.

Reasonable place to stay
John the landlord was very welcoming however later in the evening when we went in for a drink he totally blanked us all the time we were at the bar....we assume he was not happy because we decided to eat elsewhere. Drinks in the bar were expensive. Breakfast was good. the location is excellent right in the middle of the town. However, although the roads were quiet, our room was above the bar area and outside smoking area so was very noisy until well gone 11pm with people shouting and smoking outside.

Quaint pub and B&B in the lovely village of Burfod. We arrived late on Sunday and were unfortunately too late to get the famous steak and ale pie! Will have to return for that!..Very comfortable room above the pub and delicious full English breakfast.
