We've stayed at the Santiago twice now. Once last summer, and the second time just last weekend.
This past weekend seemed slightly busier.
At 3pm (check-in time), the batch of guests leaving and the batch of guests just arriving were all there at the property at the same time.
When we checked the Cantina (free snack bar) at around 4pm or so (an hour after check-in), it was already low on certain items. They had plenty of other snacks, but they were basically out of my favorite snack/drink when I'm there (a Perrier and a cookie). They had 1 Perrier and 2 cookies left. So I only got to enjoy that once during the stay. We like our munchies.
There are a lot of really nice things about the Santiago. It's probably (among) the nicest/swankiest clothing-optional gay resort you'll find in the area (based on our limited experience of staying at 3 of these resorts).
That said, they are usually the most expensive of the clothing-optional gay resorts.
While it is expensive, we've chosen to stay at the Santiago (twice) because it's renovated, it's got a calm and cool (maybe even romantic) vibe, and honestly, the Cantina and free lunch the next day.
BTW, we didn't get our lunch either. We had to check out by 11am per rules, but lunch doesn't come until 1230/1pm. We couldn't wait that long and were hoping to take our lunches to go so we can get on the road before traffic gets bad.
It would be perfect if the Cantina is always fully-stocked and check-out is after lunch.
