We particularly liked Mar Y Oro as it is in the center of the island and belongs to one of the most beautiful beaches, Playa Cacique. The Bellavista Suite we booked has the only best sea view room in the hotel and a large circular terrace with classic-style railings. Viewed from the terrace, the vast blue sea, blue sky, silvery beach, and tropical scenery are simply a paradise on earth! The food at Mar Y Oro is considered to be the best on the island. We ate all our meals here, and we witnessed the fishermen bringing the fish caught from the sea to the hotel, so we ordered a garlic Mahi Mahi dish for dinner. Served with coconut milk rice, it is tender and delicious, leaving a lingering fragrance in your mouth. The service staff here are very warm and friendly, and some can speak English, so there is no language problem. The hotel's decoration design style is unique, as if you are in a mysterious movie world, everything is charming and beautiful.

Great stay!
Great place. Loved the view from my room. Food was great but too pricey. Understandably though. Staff was very friendly. The only thing is that they should pick up the trash from the beach. Wished I stayed longer though

The views were gorgeous and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel staff was wonderful. We had expected that there would be other restaurants and more to do on the island and we did not have an easy time navigating a snorkel experience. But we had a very relaxing, and restful stay. Bring a water filter as the water on the island is not drinkable and buying all your water is expensive, as are the meals. But the hotel itself was lovely and the beach was absolutely beautiful.

The property is simple and nice. You can't beat the location! Being right on the beach was fabulous. There were plenty of beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas available and staff were eager and happy to set them up for us. Breakfast was included (fruit, eggs/omelet, juice, coffee) at the restaurant onsite. We did lunch one day at the beach bar and dinner one night in the restaurant. The food was average/good and seemed to be typical prices for an island. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Best hotel in contadora island, great customer service, they gave me a private suite, and we were beachfront, also a great restaurant accompanied by great breakfast from the own hotel

Great location but hotel needs work
The hotel is in a great place and food is very good, but checkout is very early and it has no decent place to go to the bathroom or take a bath after the beach. So be ready not be able to take a bath after the ocean and get in the ferry all sticky and with beach sand. Rooms need extra care. Ours had a whole in the roof of the bathroom because of excess humidity.

I can't say enough great things about this place! It sits right on a beautiful beach, and the rooms are new and very clean. The AC in the rooms works very well, which you want in this humidity. The staff is excellent - friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel!

The staff was fantastic, very helpful and always friendly. The beach and hotel was great. They have a water situation, that had them turning off the water at night which was not always convenient. Otherwise it was great.

Had a great stay in the family suite at Mar y Oro! The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged for taxis for us when needed, and were always available to answer questions. The views from the hotel, and the beach by it are perfect. The room is basic, but serves its purpose. Food options are the same everyday at the hotel restaurants, and are on the pricier end. Drinks were great. There are other restaurants you can go to on the island. We had one night where a guest was playing really loud music till late into the night, and we could hear every single bit of it - that was really our only complaint.

En general nos gusto mucho el hotel. Al llegar estaba el servicio de traslado esperando en el area del ferry y justo tomo menos de 5 mins en llegar al hotel en si. A pesar que el check in es a las 2pm nos dieron la habitación un poco antes. Nos instalamos en las sillas de playa, habia paraguas, toallas y un bar justo en la playa. Almorzamos en el restaurante, podría mejorar un poco la comida pero dentro de todo muy bien. Las habitaciones llenaron nuestras expectativas ya que eramos 3 personas y contaba con como king (realmente una king) y una cama queen. La deco sencilla pero acogedora. Todo funcionaba muy bien. Importante mencionar que la playa que esta justo frente al hotel es 10/10 estuvimos todo el rato alli, aguas cristalinas y bastante calmadas. Definitivamente planeamos volver.

Great room, crapy general areas of the hotel
The hotel is amazing, the chef is extraordinary, rooms are in great condition and very clean, but the checkout time is very early and the general area conditions of the hotel are very crapy. The bathroom is very old, has no light and no place to take a bath after the sea. So if you expect to have a nice time in the sea while you leave the hotel is not an option.

Hola: Deberias decir tambien que te dimos un early checkin sin costo adicional. Que te pusimos una cuna extra sin costo adicional. Que no es culpa nuestra que el Ferry salga muy tarde por lo cual el tiempo de espera entre el check out y la salida de la isla no concuerden. Tambien deberias decir que pueden quedarse en las instalaciones del Hotel desues del check out y que pueden usar las instalaciones. Lástima que no le veas el lado positivo. Gracias

El hotel tiene una ubicación fantástica pero es una pena en el estado que está ; todo descascarado, sin pintura y cero mantención. Debería invertir en mejorar todos los exteriores y también en interior ; en mi habitación encontré un cienpies en el baño (producen picadura muy dolorosas) que se metió por todas las grietas que hay en la cerámica.

We spent 4 nights at this property in March and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. It was very quiet during the week and the beach is very nice. Some of the most positive aspects of this resort were Andres, Erica and Jonathan. They made our stay very enjoyable with their above and beyond service and happy attitudes :).
