It's a heritage building so we can feel how the history past through the years and it's really fun, but it's kinda no so soundproof, so i can hear what my next room talk about 😅😅 while mostly were so good ☺️

Excellent location within Georgetown, 3 minutes walk to Komtar. Just next door to many restaurant and food stalls. Nice and friendly staff. Satisfactory washroom and room cleanliness and could be improves. E.g.: Room floor was not being mopped. Zero sound proof room. I stay at the ground floor and because the upper floor is wooden made, the sound of foot steps upstairs are loud and clear. But what to expect, its a budget stay after all. What's nice about the room is that the air-conditioner works well, and there is a fan as well. Recommended if you are on a budget travel.

バックパッカーには満足な内容
ドミトリーに泊まりましたが、値段からしたら満足です。 部屋やトイレもきちんと掃除されていて、気持ち良く使えました。 ただ、ドアの側のベットだったので、開け閉めの時起きてしまったのが残念なのと、Wi-Fiが遅いです。

We booked 2 double rooms, our rooms are clean but my air con remote was broken and I already informed the girl at front counter but no action I got to borrow from my friend's room. For our rooms location need to claim upstaire and staire case very high Toilet a little bit dirty. They provide towel if you ask. The location very good next steamboat restuarant and street food just in front of the hotel. Nearby shopping mall just walking distance.Cheap and value

Penang epicentre
Place has a nostalgic feel. The reception person was nice and polite. The room is sufficient for (very) short stay. You get what you pay for so no complaints from my side. Just a bed with thin mattress and even thinner pillow. The pluses are the aircon is cold so in humid Malaysia, that's heaven sent. Situated on the ground flour, my room hasn't a window, so that may not appeal to everyone. The other major plus is it is right in the heart of Georgetown. So, almost everything. Is within reach. Step out and street hawkers are everywhere. Overall, suits younger traveller and short stay traveller. A plus on the balance.

Einfache Unterkunft mit nettem Personal
Die Unterkunft liegt zentral und die Zimmer sind in Ordnung. Als störend habe ich die mobile Klimaanlage empfunden, die sehr laut war und alle 3 Stunden geleert werden musste. Auch die sanitären Einrichtungen waren sehr einfach aber im Großen und Ganzen sauber. Wer vor allem Wert auf eine günstige Unterkunft legt, ist hier gut untergebracht. Die Außentür ist verschlossen und im Haus befinden sich Kameras, so dass man sich immer sicher fühlt.

my stay was okay. the bed was so uncomfortable, the hostel need a good clean, not having an old lady to clean it. it need a good clean.showers need to be cleaned. just clean them don't know why this hostel doesn't have a cleaning team that will do a professional cleaning. but it wasn't that and it was OK! location amazing staff were so friendly. helpful

BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I stayed at a double room for 3 nights, no windows and bathroom is shared. During my last day, when I went to the common bathroom for a shower, someone went into my room and took ALL my cash - equivalent to almost 600 MYR. Lucky the thief left my cards and gadgets, my phone was hidden under the pillow and my iPad covered under my clothes. It was so quick. When I entered the room, I noticed my wallet on my bed. I just thought I left it there so I didn't notice what just happened. When I checked out, they gave me back my 10 MYR deposit (BTW, they will ask for 2 MYR per night fee, for I dunno what and 10 MYR deposit). I was already outside the premises when I put the 10 MYR inside my wallet. That was when I noticed all my cash was gone. I rushed back to the reception and reported what happened. I asked them to check the CCTV but they told me they had to report it to the police. The lady receptionist mentioned something like it could have been one of their old tenants who had access to the room. They were trying to call the owner but they said she's overseas. They told me to wait and I told them I could not wait any longer coz I have a flight to catch...with only 10 MYR in my pocket! She noted how much was stolen, I told her I have 100 USD, 30 SGD and around 70-90 MYR (total almost equivalent to 600 MYR). I just left them coz I know there's nothing that would happen. Who knows, it might have been an inside job! So book at your own risk and always keep your valuables with you...

Good points - Great location: within walking distance of cafes and eating places, plus a mall! - Rustic old world charm decor - share toilets were pretty clean Bad points - The main problem of this place would be its bed pillows + sheets ( Pillows were lumpy, smelly and terribly stained, while sheets and comforter [ NO cover!] were stained as well). - AC was noisy - We can't eat in our own rooms! Neutral - Rooms have no windows - place only had stairs ( take note elderly folk!)

"A Painful Lesson"
The single bedroom has a funky loft vibe to it. That said the experience of staying in it is completely ruined by the extreme discomfort of the mattress whose coils press against your back. That coupled with the heat of the room (there is an ineffective portable A/C unit in the room that continously drips water) and the non-stop stompping of the floor boards until well past midnight will have you counting the minutes until checkout. Avoid this guesthouse because the pros (cool architecture, lounge, affordability and proximity to street food) don't come anywhere close to compensating for its shortcomings.

Cheap but not worth it
I stayed in a private room for three nights here. The room was like a jail cell, no windows, ugly grey tile floor, and ugly decorations. There were ants everywhere. The bed was old, lumpy and super uncomfortable. The AC is on a table in the middle of the room and only cools the bed area and not very well. There were no blankets, just a thin fleece throw. They don't have enough bathrooms, I'd have to wait an hour in the morning just to use the toilet.

ห้องพักแบบ 2 คน ดีมาก สะอาดและเตียงนุ่ม และห้องน้ำดีมาก ในห้องปลั๊กมีให้แค่ 1 เต้า ดังนั้นเตรียมปลั๊กพ่วงไปด้วย ส่วนห้องน้ำมีให้หลายห้อง ไม่แย่งกันแน่นอน แถมส่วนกลางยังมีเตารีดและไดว์เป่าผมให้ด้วย ใกล้แหล่งที่กินตอนกลางคืนและตลาดเช้า ใกล้สตรีทอาร์ท มีอาหารขายตั้งแต่เช้าตรู่ยันดึกดื่น .. เสียตรงที่ที่เติมน้ำไกลไปหน่อย (อยู่ชั้น 1) กับแผนที่ให้แค่แบบเดียว (ที่โรงแรมมีประมาณ 2 แบบ แต่ขอเค้า ให้แค่แบบเดียว)

Affordable hostel for backpackers
The hostel itself located at the center of Georgetown which is quite convenience to commute around Penang (take only 5 minutes walk from Komtar bus stop). Anyway, the room is quite old because the hostel was renovated from the old building and some facilities also quite old. If you are backpackers who don't mind having few facilities this hostel is quite good for your trip! Anyway don't book single room since the AC is only portable air con and it cannot work that well :(

前の方と同様の対応を受けたと思う者ですが、印象はかなり異なります。英語での説明は普通に分かりました。モルタルの古い建物内部をきれいに整備してあり、床は木で、裸足で歩くと気持ち良いです。「部屋で洗濯物を干すな」と初めから表示してありました。（木の床が傷むからだと思います。） 窓は無かったですが、私にはエアコンで十分でした。ただし、シャワールームの数が少なく、かつ、その中で着替えるしかないのは困りました。 なおホテルの写真にあるクラッシックな門はフロントの奥にあるものです。入口には英文の赤い縦長看板と「金華坊」看板があります。間口が狭いので、グーグルのストリートビューで見ておくと安心です。

びっくりしました。
まずチェックインした際に若い女性スタッフに英語でいろいろ説明を受けたましたが早口で説明するので聞き取れずもう一度説明を求めるとあからさまに嫌な顔をされ不快な思いをしました。それから部屋は6人部屋で窓は全くなく昼間でも真っ暗でした。ペナンは日中30℃以上の炎天下で観光したのちホテルに帰るころにはTシャツは汗でドボドボの状態になるので洗面所で簡単に水洗いして部屋のベッドの柵に干しておいて夕方帰宅すると部屋に張り紙がしてありました。「部屋の中に濡れた衣類を干すな、今度見つけたらチャリティーに寄付するか捨てるぞ」と書いてありました。部屋は窓はなく昼間でも真っ暗で人目にもつかない環境であったので、またチェックインの際にそのような説明はなくそのような掲示もありませんでした。お国柄だから仕方がないかもしれませんがいきなりこのような厳しい張り紙をせずに口答で注意するなりもう少し心使いが欲しかったです。このようにいろんな面でこのホテルには不快な感情しか残っていません。ペナンで心使いを求めるのは贅沢なのかもしれません。

Excellent service and excellent staff. The best budget guesthouse I had been in Penang. Do stay again at my next trip.

Good guesthouse/hostel for exploring Georgetown
This is a good cheap option for a guesthouse/hostel in the central part of georgetown, near the predominantly Chinese neighborhoods and down the street from the Kimberley night hawkers. It's not a hotel so no fridge, tv or anything but a bed and a chair + desk, but the rooms are clean, they have adequate shared showers and generally not very noisy at night so you can sleep although earplugs are suggested for light sleepers. Bring mosquito repellant/traps as its easy to let them into your room while you're there. Also, if you plan on using multiple electronic devices, bring or buy a powerstrip as rooms only have one outlet.

Strategic Hotel for Food and Georgetown Walks
1) During Check in - Was treated with cold shoulder and impolite by chinese young man. At 09-00 hours was asked to wait for Check- in at 13:30 hours. Double standard treatment as much to explained to non-Malaysian guests and reminded me to come back before 12 midnight; 2) Taxi - was offered by the aforesaid attendant instead of walking for 2.5km (leas than 30 mins walk by foot) starting with Rm50 per trip. Called in the taxi driver and asked for RM20 for the max of 5km taxi ride and the driver said that some portions of the taxi fare needs to be shared with the hotel attendant; 3) Room was having weird food waste odour when came in and had to clean and disinfected myself; 4) Another attendant Apple was very helpful and passed a practical map pamphlet and annotated the Georgetown art street, riding rental, eatery at chowrasta market, Penang Road and Burmah Road; and 5) Facilities were good except on the squeky wall fan in the room and no window in the room to aware of day of night.

便利な場所にあるのですが、間口が狭いのでややわかりにくいです。 ロビーは大変趣があり、部屋も清潔で快適でした。コーヒーや紅茶もセルフサービスで自由に飲めます。 ただ、シャワー・トイレは共通で、遠い部屋だとトイレや洗面に行くのが面倒になります。
