Good location for the beach and the town. The hotel itself was a bit dated and smelt a bit musty (especially the spa - although my husband said his massage was excellent). We didn't really use the restaurant or bars - the pool bar closed early evening and the restaurant had no atmosphere whatsoever. Breakfast was ok. Next time I will pay the extra for a resort which has more facilities and a beach view from the pool.

Built on the side of the mountain about a 5 minute walk to beach but the building has no elevators so if your above the first floor you better be in shape

When we arrived at the hotel after a long day of travel, they told us our room had been cancelled by Expedia and we needed to pay them again directly. When I called Expedia this was not the case. We felt a though they were trying to scam us so we booked another room. Now, Expedia has been trying to contact them to figure out what was happening and they have no been returning any calls or emails.

Dear customers, first and foremost, we want to know the reason why they blame us this much. From a preliminary review, we have found that the customer's booking document has not been booked with us. But booked with another hotel But the customer came to the wrong hotel Therefore we are not able to let customers check in with us. But in the end, the customer can know for themselves that they have entered the wrong hotel And traveled from our own We therefore do not understand why customers are to blame us. However, the hotel has assisted its customers even though they are not hotel customers. But if we do something wrong Would like customers to provide us more information than this would be good for us But if only because We are unable to let you stay with us. I think the staff are excellent and the amenities are up to standard I do however think charging over Au$55 to hire the key to a safety deposit box in your room is a bit cheeky given every other resort I've ever stayed in includes that amenity without extra cost

Horrible manager. He did not refund when we did not stay at the property at all. He overselled shabby looking hotel by falsely putting photos on lastminute.com.au. My mother who is 65 year old was put in a shabby room at 4AM in the morning. When we paid for Deluxe room they put us in a shabby dark room and DID NOT REFUND my money. Only for money making business with no hospitality towards customers.

You can’t really moan a ‘bout Karona!
We enjoyed our stay in this tired, three star hotel with a beach view. The beach was unswimmable because of rips and no lifeguards because it was low season. The hotel has seen better days but most things worked with the exception of wifi and hot water which took an eternity to come through. I only had cold showers as I couldn’t be bothered to wait for hot water. Wi fi was woeful. I had to sit on the balcony to get a weak signal and frequent drop outs. However, the place was clean and there is plenty of cheap eating nearby and staff are kind and nice but have limited language skills. Breakfast is a standard hotel buffet with cereal, fruit, bread and pastries and eggs done as you want them.it was a great place to use as a base and cheap so you get what you pay for.

Great little place to stay staff friendly rooms clean only problem many stairs if you are put in top rooms as there are no lifts breakfast is buffet no bacon though meals overall are nice close to beach but definitely too many stairs for older people to climbp

Average hotel with great staff
We booked this Hotel near the beach. On the website it appeared to be well maintained and and a nice pool area. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast wasnt bad. The bed was uncomfortable, old matress, and there is no elevator to the upper floors. The hotel is just run down. The pool needs maintenance as there are tiles coming loose. The service at the hotel is great, it's just older hotel and needs some remodel work. It rained for most of my stay, had there been sunny weather it would be easy to overlook the deficiencies of the hotel because the Beautiful Karon beach is next door.

The resort was nice size. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Could have a bit more variety at breakfast in terms of fruit and vegetarian options. Also could have more sun beds or make sure customers put their towel on the sunbeds and then don’t use it for most of the day. Good location but closer to Kata end.

Nice place, nice location, breakfast is good. Bike rental, shops, restaraunt and down the street. 1 minute walk to beach. Away from the party and business For relaxation but just a quick 5-10 minute ride away if you choose to get crazy one night. Workers are nice, they know English for the most part, just need to speak slowly and clearly to them. 800-1000 Thai baht from airport. 1200 Thai baht if you book from resort to airport 5am. Definitely would stay again.

I am a regular visitor to Thailand and it was the first time l was asked to pay additionally for the use of the safe in the room. They do not supply beach towels after 5pm. Air Con was blowing to the ceiling and was not cooling the room. BEAWARE THERE IS NO LIFT, if you have got sore knees, you will regret getting the 4th Level Room

The building was built in an open space. Easy to move around and out of the room at every corner. We do not need a lift. Each floor is built for easy access. The process is not very steep. This is our reason. If you are not comfortable, you can contact our reception staff .But the hotel apologizes to the customer if the customer is not satisfied. And about Pool Towel have serve our client one towel per day from morning time until 18.00 Hrs. veryday but retruned within same day due to some client not return us back, and this case hotel missing the time supply you we are sorry in our missing and apologize in this matter, hotel will do improvement and teach our staff to do all better. Great place close to the beach
Beautiful room with deck and view of the water. Breakfast buffet was good but couldn’t eat any of the lovely fruit of ham because of so many bugs - need to find a different way to offer these things. Staff was not very friendly and your desk prices were higher than ehag I found out in the streets. WiFi was spotty at best.

Nice hotel across the street from the beach.
I booked a sea view room and it wasn't available the day I checked in. Only a two night stay and had to move the following day. Breakfast was a standard average breakfast. Hotel itself was clean...the pool beautiful. At night there was a singer...she was the sunshine of the staff! Nice and quiet hotel!

Nice hotel in great location
I have visited Phuket a few times now. My wife and I didn't spend too much time at the resort, but the pool area and the breakfast were quite good. We had a couple issues and the staff had a bit of a bad attitude when we asked them for assistance. They ended up sending fruit to our room to try and make up for it though. Lol Overall, The Karona Resort and Spa is comparable to most other resorts in the area. We were happy with our stay, but I have stayed at some cheaper places in the area which are just as nice.

Hotel location was good but staff were for the most part bored and unfriendly. Reception staff were rude. This is a hotel for younger guests as five floors without elevators is not for the unfit. Additional charge for the in room safe was an unpleasant surprise. Lighting in the room was very poor so you needed a flashlight to read. Unable to move the umbrellas at the pool makes the chairs unusable for most of the day. On the plus side rooms are large and clean, and location is close to Karon Beach and about 20 min. From Kata Beach.

Hotel is in a good location and the staff are very helpful. We did have one issue with a member of staff which was dealt with by the manager and did not detract from our stay. The hotel rooms are a little tired and in need of renovation but the views from the room were excellent.

Great Hotel by Day, Quiet at Night
We had previously spent a week at Patong Beach and that area was far too hectic and noisy for our liking. We were looking for smaller scale, white sand beach, lovely pool area and we found it all at this hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The beach is a two minute or less walk, many nice restaurants very close by. The view from the balcony was so beautiful to wake up to every morning. A great local market on Tuesday and Friday just a Tuk-Tuk ride away. Our stay at this hotel was just what we needed to relax and enjoy our holiday. Everything was as described and clean. Did I say how lovely the pool area is?? Night life close by. No lift (elevator), you get your exercise, so you can enjoy the great Thai food.

Nice hotel with short walk to the beach
This is a nice hotel in Karon, with the advantage of being within walking distance to both Karon and Kata Beach. The staff are very friendly, although you might need a bit of patience with their English if you have any complicated matters that need solving. We stayed in hotel room 502 which had a nice ocean view. Do note, though, that the balconies are incredibly small - we never really used ours as it barely fit two chairs and there was little privacy. As noted by previous guests, it's a bit of a hike to some of the higher floor rooms (which we didn't mind at all) and no elevator. The beach was a lot closer than what we had thought (literally just down the road). Wifi worked, but cut in and out quite often - so wouldn't count on it for other than mobile use. If you are on a budget and looking for somewhere decent to stay this is a good choice. There were a lot of Scandinavians and Russians staying at the hotel during our stay, which seems to be the norm. Overall, we enjoyed our stay - but if we were to return we'd probably look at something a bit more comfortable/higher standard for the price.

Get what you pay for
Room needs to be made more comfortable with some chairs. Softer beds and pillows. General appearance of hotel needs some improvement with some painting and cleaning. Staff were very helpful.

Long story short, the hotel staff took care of my injuries from a motorcycle accident earlier that day. They helped clean me up and get me bandaged. One staff member told me to go to a clinic, but another friendly staff person actually assisted me.

Beautiful hotel great location, service a let down
This is a beautiful hotel, lovely location in a quiet part of Karon Beach. The rooms were roomy and well decorated, the pool, restaurant and bar area spacious and well kept. It is a shame that during my stay the hotel was let down by the service. I was given a room that did not lock from the inside; you could only lock the room using the safety chain, which was loose on the door frame and when the chain was secured and the door open there was a gap of a few inches between the door frame and the door, that a person could put their hand through. Obviously I was worried being a female on her own - I asked for a room with a lockable door and after a struggle I was given a room that also did not lock from the inside but had a more secure chain; better but not ideal. On my final night I asked reception to book me a taxi to the airport and they actually refused, saying there was no need to book a taxi as there would be taxis on duty from 5am. I asked if I could have a taxi anyway to be safe and they refused to book me one. Next morning I went outside at 6am and of course no taxis. The staff then told me that if I hadn't booked a taxi how could I expect there to be one, and that guests should book taxis themselves. I am sorry to say that this is very poor service from a hotel, especially given that I am a woman by myself. It is a shame as the hotel is beautiful but during my stay it was sadly let down by the staff. I will not be recommending this hotel.
