The American River Inn is a cute old hotel located in Georgetown, CA. Established in 1853 if definitely has CA Gold Rush credentials. I loved the place and just generally love this sort of walk back in time cute and classy hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere charming. If you are going to stay in the CA Gold Country do things right and stay at the American River Inn in the heart of historic Georgetown.

Georgetown Jewel
This is a jewel we found for a birthday trip for my wife. It was like stepping into a piece of history. The decor was amazing. There was a sitting room downstairs where the hosts provided a wine and cheese reception. Breakfast at the big table in the morning was amazing. The room was comfortable and perfect for us. The staff was extremely friendly.

1849 Elegance!
If you want to experience a Gold Rush Hotel, the American Inn is it! Authentic right down to the floorboards. The owner is super friendly and breakfast was world-class. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We were upgraded to a suite and allowed late checkout so we could watch the football game. The hosts were lovely. The decor was charming. We loved the American River Inn!

Needs some upkeep
The place can really use some maintenance and upkeep. Broken screens and torn curtains need immediate attention. The bathroom fan was horribly noisy.

Every staff member was extremely welcoming and sweet. We loved our Library room, the decor theoughout the whole buidling was beautiful, and every second there was amazing!

I stayed at the Inn with my mother and we shared one of their twin rooms.From the moment I booked the reservation the Inn keeper was very corgal, she made sure we were taken care of, I needed to make sure we had a private bathroom, some of the rooms share bathrooms and I explained I was trave!ing with my mother and didnt want any suprises when she was utilizing the bathroom. She was happy to reserve a twin with a private bath. The breakfast for each morning, we stayed 3 nights, was a gormet breakfast and made me realize I missed the experience of staying in a B& B. I usually stay in Hiltons and most of the time the breakfast, when it is free , is nothing to right home about. I would highly recommend staying at the historical Inn and will definitly return when I am in the area.

The street in front of the property had noisy motorcycle and pickup truck traffic until late, and the bar down the street had music audible in our room. Be aware that you will have to decide whether to put cash in the envelope labeled "for your generosity", without knowing who will get the cash and how much those people are paid. I realize that after-the-price-negotiations requests for more money are becoming almost ubiquitous, so this hotel is not alone, but customers prefer to pay before they come and then not be panhandled for more.

Weekend at the American River Inn
I highly rate this B&B. They were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was fantastic. The Inn is decorated really well and is very charming. I loved it.

We liked the old fashioned décor The floors squeaked so loud when one of us got up to use the bathroom, which was located in the hall, it woke up the person sleeping.

The hostess isn't friendly and unless you are into a very old fashioned and BnB with a stringent vibe, and have a real reason to be in the town, there is nothing there. Pass and go to Auburn, Roseville or places further afield. No access to the kitchen, breakfast at a set time, and a lot of fuss over pet deposit (incompatible with what is stated on Expedia's website) and per admin a mistake on Expedia's part.

This is a gem of a historical building, located in a quaint and friendly gold rush town, that still features many authentic buildings from the 1850’s. The hotel is charming, and the owner and staff are very welcoming

This is exactly what it purports to be. A Sierra foothills small old town B&B. Furnishings are authentic Gold Rush vintage. People very friendly. The tiny live dog mascot is a gem. If you can safely survive the winding, narrow, mountain gorge roads from both directions, more power to you. Breakfast is a big positive; no screens on the windows a negative. There are floor power strips to accommodate modern electrical needs. Fewer bathrooms than bedrooms. Jeep guided trail riding is close by.

Turned from a bed and breakfast to just a bed.
Our plans changed and the owner was very accommodating with our late arrival the first night and having to vmcancancle a day at the end. Very nicely and well maintained Victorian bed and breakfast. Our room was rather small so there was no where to sit. But that was a minor issue. We were there for breakfast on the first morning and die to the time breakfast was served we were very specific we would miss day two but be there again for day three. We cam down 30mins before breakfast, chatted with the staff and other guests the whole time breakfast was being prepared. It wasn't until they started serving that they decided to tell us they hadn't made anything for us. They said they would make something and "have it right out". We left 15 minutes later due to our schedule without breakfast.

Room inconvenient to hall BR; outside light on all night as well as hall way light; towels smelled musty; no water available or snacks or even cold/snack machine; unable to use hot tub; breakfast minimal and not special; no hair dryer except in hall bathroom. Very loud creaky floors.

We are contacting the group you came in with about this unacceptable review, which is not consistent with our reviews or experience. You are not welcome at our property again, and you should stay in a motel which is where you belong, not the historic Mansion.

The incredible history here was awesome, as was the personnnel...the breakfast served classic style was over the top...the condition of the hotel definitely requires upgrades and simple moderization

There was a snow storm which caused the power to go out. We had to leave a day early otherwise we would’ve been stuck in a dark inn. Of course there was no refund. The inn keeper is nice but gets too involved in your business.
