Thank you, David for taking the time to do a review for us. You are correct about the older building part. This year is our 75th Anniversary! As you mentioned the odors, that would be the essence of shore living. The salt air with wood is something that so many longtime vacationers associate with the shore. I did a small survey of guests who have been coming down for their entire lives. I asked what they most associate with their childhood memories and most of them said that when they hit the bridge, it is the smells. The salt air, the boardwalk smells and the smell of the motel or house that they come to every year. The scents of the shore brings them happy memories. We actually have several families who have been coming here since our first year in 1948! It is amazing to see their children's children grow up. If you do return, you can try a different room type in the other part of the motel. They have thicker walls than the original side of the property. It was built 20 years after. You can also request an end room where there are only guests on one side of you. Any one of our receptionists can help you find the best room for you. We also update on a regular basis. Thank you for your feedback. We had initially had you in the one room and gladly moved you to a different one instead. When there is something that is making our guests unhappy, we do our very best to fix the situation or problem for you as soon as we can. In your case, we had no issue with the move and were happy to make you more comfortable. We do have rooms that have a king sized bed and more space. Many will reserve a different room until they settle on their favorite type. Different rooms have a different feel to them. It is a fun adventure to try several out! Thank you Kevin, for your feedback. Pre check in, as mentioned in your confirmation, begins at noon. You arrived at 11:40am. Pre checkin does begin at noon. First, it is a free courtesy that we offer guests so that they could use the amenities until their room is ready by 4pm. People were very grateful for the extra perk that allows them to go to the beach or pool, parking and enjoy the day until their room is ready for them. IF the room is ready early, we let the guest know that they can pick up their keys. In reference to the pool, yes, we did have a pool issue with water overflowing due to a plumbing issue. It was repaired by that evening. Occasionally in a business or home, things can happen and those things get taken care of as soon as possible. Oddly enough, people thought it was sort of cool to have an infinity pool and had fun with the idea. We do our best to take care of a problem as quickly as we can and also reassure guests that it will be alright which it was. The day beds are actually brand new and it is possible that it needed to be repositioned, which we would have gladly and easily been done for you if you were having difficulty. We do not expect that our guests should need to do that by themselves. As for anything else, maintenance or the property manager would have also helped you with anything from your list of issues. Our check in process is not a first come first served situation. We have a tried and true system and it is a very strict and structured system. Our staff has all been here for many years for a reason. They are amazing and work very hard for our guests and they take their jobs very seriously. They are also human. We will always strive our best to give you, our guests, the best stay that you deserve to have. If we had had another room that may have suited you better, we would have moved you. However, we did not have any availability. Had you given us a chance, we would have done our best to give you a great stay. Thank you for your feedback Jason. We are sorry for the smoking issue. We had a few guests who were not being respectful, and were spoken to a few times. As we are such a busy establishment, it can be a difficult thing to baby sit the folks who exist to do what they choose it seems. It is unfortunate and if we do catch them at it, they will be charged for it. It is against our policy for anyone to smoke anything outside of the designated smoking area. If there is a specific complaint and we know who it is doing the rule breaking, we WILL enforce the charge. Still, we are sorry for you having to deal with that sort of thing. We do take seriously all of our guests' comfort while they stay with us. Anything that interferes with that is not ok with us. Safe travels to you Jason.

Thank you for your feedback Illya. We have 3 women and a manager that run our reception. None of them would give out the same "dirty" towels just given to them. When a guest does not want full service, they are able to exchange used towels for fresh clean ones. We would never give a guest back their own used towels. Nor would any of them say those words to anyone. Our staff is always available for any issue. We do thank you for your feedback as it helps us be the best that we can. Safe travels!

If a guest has an issue with wifi or anything else, they come to the front desk for assistance. I do not have any notes of any reported problems from you. We did look at the curtains and there are no signs of wear and tear. We frequently update rooms and yours was no exception. There is more than enough parking for all of our rooms with a few extra. Many people seem to have larger and larger vehicles and this does require patience if you have a large truck or SUV. Again, we do appreciate your feedback and wish you safe travels wherever you go!

We ask all guests to put up their door sign before noon whether they want service or no service. The housekeeping staff look for these in order to set up their day. Some like a firm one, some a fluffy sink in one. The happy medium becomes relative to a person's specific preference. We are again so glad that you took the time to review us.
