This was one of the most exquisite properties I’ve ever stayed on and loved the entire experience. The owners and staff are all incredibly attentive and helpful, and the view from breakfast and the infinity pool alone are enough to make me come back. With only 4 rooms available on the whole property, it was an exclusive experience that often felt like a completely private booking. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to be back.

Casa Geranio is a unique and lovely property, nestled on a hillside in central Rio. The space is a lush oasis of greenery and traditional architecture that makes for a luxurious resting spot after a day of touring the busy city. Our room was ample, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was exquisite and the service was warm, friendly, and very helpful. Thank you all for everything! I would definitely recommend this hotel for anybody looking to stay in downtown Rio and would surely consider it again if I get the chance to return. I think it's worth mentioning that the walk up hill and the hotel stairs may not be ideal for people with limited mobility.

Unique B&B in charming part of Rio, away from the tourist areas. Lovely hosts and staff. Breakfasts were amazing - changed every day, but always delicious using the freshest produce.

This was by far, the best accommodation we have had in Rio. The room was absolutely incredible. It was beyond clean, the service amazing, and the owners were so helpful and friendly. The views are spectacular and the breakfast was out of this world. When they heard I was vegan, they’ve even baked a vegan cake for me. I can only recommend this to anyone traveling to Rio.

El lugar es el mejor hotel Boutique en Rio de Janeiro, chiquito, exclusivo, con personalidad e identidad. Excelente servicio, cama comoda, piscina a buena temperatura, vegetacion inigualable y vistas extraordinarias. Un desayuno variado y delicioso. Los anfitriones super atentos.

Wonderful stay!
The room and property were amazing! The breakfast was incredible! They really catered to us to make our overall experience wonderful even when we stayed longer at the hotel waiting for our evening flight. The WiFi didn’t work great. Some Ubers didn’t want to drive us to the hotel or pick us up because of the unsafe neighborhood but once we were at the property, we really enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend!

Dear Lynette, Thank you for your comments. We would like to clarify that some transportation app’s driver do not live in Rio ( they do live at the suburbs) and just follow the GPS therefore it is not true that Casa Geranio is located in a dangerous neighborhood. Also you had a one night stay so we don’t understand how did you have so marabu problems in getting transport. You cold have asked a member of the staff and they would have called a taxi from a local company where we know the drivers.

The hotel is set in a beautiful location overlooking the city with amazing gardens - very peaceful and relaxing. The owners could not have been more welcoming from the moment I arrived, providing a delicious breakfast each morning and tips about where to visit / drink / eat. I could not recommend this place enough.

Persönlich sehr freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Aber man musste etwa 80 Stufen erklimmen, bis man das Hotel erreichte. Keine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe, auch keine Restaurants oder Bars. Das Hotel hat keine warmen Getränke noch Abendessen, weder offeriert noch als Kaufmöglichkeit. Auch keine Snacks verfügbar, keine Drinks - das fehlte wirklich. Das Frühstück war sehr gut.

Dear Anjali, Thank you for review. At our page is informed where we are, which type of property and location. It is written the access is made through steps and ramps. There are plenty of bars and restaurants ( walking distance from Casa Geranio) which they were informed to you. We are in the middle between Lapa and Santa Teresa. You had hot drinks on your room when requested. Therefore we do serve hot drinks of any kind of drinks upon our guests request. Yes you correct when mentioning our breakfast as it is varied and there are a lot of options of cooked fresh meals.

The outside can be initially off-putting when you first arrive, but inside the gates is an oasis of refreshing and high-quality amenities and service.

Wonderful visit. Dynamite service, super relaxing. Casual, yet pampering. The breakfasts are fantastic. Could not have had a better stay. Super location for Lapa and Samba action. Claudio is truly a class act, energetic and informative, while polished and chill. Felt like great value for level of service and amenities, and location.

Definitiv die beste Unterkunft in Rio! Alles ist extrem sauber und schön eingerichtet. Das Frühstück ist reich an frischen Früchten und Fruchtsäften. Nichts lässt zu wünschen übrig. Ich werde definitv wieder dort übernachten, dann aber für längere Zeit!

Casa Geranio is an oasis tucked away in the hills of Santa Teresa! I loved the design aesthetics - a stone accent wall in the bathroom and marble shower in the bathroom, gorgeous seating area with a partition between the bed and nice linens. The owner is very friendly and gave me a great restaurant recommendation - he obviously loves what he does! The room was air conditioned, which is nice with the heat/humidity of Rio in the summer. Infinity pool has plenty of lounge chairs with great views of the downtown skyline. The breakfast in the morning is amazing! You will love your stay here!

Not only an hotel but an experience! Gabriel and his team are excellent hosts, the casa is a wonderful object in the hills of Santa Teresa and the breakfast is very good too!

Casa Geranio es única. No hay palabras para describir la casa, la amabilidad de sus dueños y la belleza del paisaje. Gabriel y Claudio fueron unos anfitriones increíbles, atentos en todo momento a lo que pudiéramos necesitar, un taxi, una recomendación para cenar, un libro... La habitación en la que nos quedamos: Carioca, era un sueño. Muy cómoda y funcional, con su propia piscina, nos hacía difícil querer salir. Los detalles son otro punto a destacar. Pocas veces se encuentran tantos detalles en cosas sencillas pero que hacen a la belleza de las cosas. Cada rincón está pensado para la contemplación y el disfrute. La casa es mágica, con la mezcla perfecta de sus años y el confort y decoración de este siglo. Prepárense para los desayunos. Todos los días cambian, no sólo por la vajilla, que es perfecta y también cambia, sino que Claudio inventa formas de preparar los huevos, o hacer una torta de zanahoria y chocolate, esto hace que el inicio del día sea siempre una sorpresa, abundante y deliciosa. No podemos dejar de mencionar a Paco, la mascota de la casa, siempre dispuesto a recibir un mimo. Fueron tres días bellos que quedarán en nuestros recuerdos. Gracias Casa Geranio por tanta calidez y hospitalidad. Ojalá volvamos.

Relaxed charm
The hotel is a haven is the arty Santa Teresa area, Conveniently located for Lapa as well. Our room was spacious, full of lovely things and had an amazing view from the terrace. The main house is perfectly kept. The breakfasts were a real treat and the pool is lovely.

Great Boutique Hotel in Rio
Great boutique hotel in Santa Teresa. Very personal service from both owners. Our room had its own plunge pool which was excellent and the style of the room was superb and comfortable. Overall a great stay.

Un séjour vraiment parfait, Claudio et Gabriel sont deux hôtes aux petits soins dans une casa magnifique ! Ils nous on conseillé sur les visites, les restaus, etc. Nous y avons dormi deux fois pendant notre séjour et nos deux chambres étaient décorés avec beaucoup de goûts (nous conseillons la chambre avec la piscine privée à débordement, une vue incroyable !) Chaque jour un petit déjeuner différent et divin ! En résumé, rien à redire !!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!
Casa Geranio was amazing. The owners and hosts Claudio and Gabriel were awesome and instantly made us feel at home. Here are some highlights: The location - Santa Teresa was such a cool part of the city. High up on the hill overlooking the city, cobblestone roads and old stately homes. Great little bars and restaurants. The streets are well-lit at night and it is in easy walking distance to Lapa which has all the night-life. I didn't find getting around town from Santa Teresa was any more difficult that from anywhere else. The city is huge and spread out so unless you're hanging around right in the neighborhood you're staying in, you're likely to have a bit of a trek to get other places. I loved the character of Santa Teresa; you got a good feel for the historical Rio. Not touristy at all. Breakfast - OMG, Claudio is a chef and his breakfast which was made fresh every day, right down to the freshly squeezed juices, was AMAZING! The food presentation was pure art and there were beautiful fruits, pastries, local cheese all served on lovely dishes. They set tables out for each couple or guest, not family style as is done sometimes at Bed and Breakfasts. It was romantic and peaceful. Rooms - We stayed in Suite Carioca. I would highly recommend this if you are on a romantic getaway or want a peaceful space. We had our own pool and gated patio and city views. Very quiet space to enjoy wine in the evening while listening to the bustle of Lapa below.
