The "snack bar" is under construction & the Brazilian restaurant is substituting. Cook time slow, menu ltd to cheeseburger, hot dog, pizza. Brazilian rest. dinner bland & some meats tough/under/overcooked. Buffet food often bland/cold, some dishes unmarked. Nice pork shank at Mexican rest. Drinks tasty everywhere, but frozen drinks under-blended, resulting in lg chunks of ice.
Room was clean & well-appointed, bed comfortable, water pressure/temp excellent. But few outlets, some crumbly walls inside the room, & the ext of the building needs new paint badly. Nice deck with jetted tub, 2 chaises, chairs, & hammock. However, tub water controls were on the far inside of the enclosure, so you had to climb into the tub to turn on the water, then climb out for it to fill. My husband slipped during this process, resulting in a bad bruise on his back.
Beach was clean, we did snorkel & see 1 turtle & many fish, but water clarity poor. Also saw agoutis, chachalacas from deck.
We booked an excursion thru the tour company at the hotel to Tulum/Coba. We're both obviously 60 , my husband is visibly obese, & we have bad backs, but we were never informed this excursion required walking 4 miles in the heat, or that Tulum required hiking over 1 mile just to REACH the ruins & back. We were unable to keep up, missed even seeing the cenote as we couldn't do the stairs, & were physically disabled by the end, but the tour co/hotel refused to refund any of the $300 fee.
