The hotel is very clean and quiet, Tasha & Julie are very friendly nice and helpful, the only thing is that the hotel is a little far from the downtown and the best beaches like West Bay, but they call a taxi and it arrives quickly If you want to have a vacation in a quiet, &! clean place where you can relax, go to Puerta Azul.

It was very quiet and relaxing place. We loved the hammock on the dock. Also, loved being so close to the ocean.

Puerta Azul is beautiful, well maintained, and the staff is lovely. It is not walkable, but taxi is easily arranged through the reception desk with a few hours notice. The beach is quiet and boasts a lovely dock with hammocks overlooking the ocean. Highly recommend this great property.

The entire staff was incredibly friendly. There was a sense of family. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, and that our experience on Roatan was unforgettable.

My wife and I recently spent 8 days at Puerta Azul to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We found the grounds and the staff excellent! Talia and Monica were fantastic and were attentive to our needs and made our stay very enjoyable. Monica and Danielle were extremely knowledgeable about the island and were able to impart plenty of information to help us enjoy our stay and explore Roatan. Rose (the chef) and the wait staff were tremendous and the food at Puerta Azul was delicious. We were able to renew our vows and the sunset ceremony was something that my wife and I will always treasure. If you are looking for a truly unique experience ,we highly recommend Puerta Azul!

I stayed here with my friend and it exceeded our expectations! It was right on the beach which was gorgeous. Monica was extremely helpful! The food and drinks were amazing as well and the kitchen staff was so friendly. Definitely coming back!

Lovely stay with amazing people running it. Talia the owner was super responsive and attentive as was her entire team! Breakfast each morning was a nice surprise of the chef which were all delightful. The warmth of the service team is definitely the highlight. This was the perfect stay as well as we were getting our advance diving certification with Blue Island Divers which is nearby and they can pick you and drop you off right at the dock of the Puerta Azul which offers fantastic dive sites just minutes away!

The staff are great, very accommodating! We loved Judy Ann! Property is very clean, beautiful and quiet. It is a little ways away from everything , but we rented a car, which I recommend and worth it, so we were able to enjoy many restaurants and attractions, and joy ride and see the island. The negative for us was that there were only screens and wooden shutters on the windows in the rooms. You could easily hear people walking by, talking, dogs barking, etc. Also, to keep the air conditioned air in, the wooden shutters had to be completely closed, so during the day the room was dark, and the beautiful outdoor views could not be enjoyed if wanting/needing to stay indoors. The room does come with a refrigerator only, no microwave, utensils, etc., so making your own meals is really not an option. Puerta Azul does have a free breakfast and food/drink options for purchase for lunch and dinner. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Many memories and fun times made here!❤️

The staff was amazing all the way around! Quiet property out of the hustle and bustle but can easily get into west end via a 10min ride. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for your own slice of paradise.

Puerta Azul was amazing for a getaway for me and my daughter. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. They made us feel like weat home. I miss being there and hope to be back.

During the room walkthrough, we informed hotel creaking sound in the room but couldn’t figure where the repetitive creaking sound was coming from and the floor was tilted to one side. As the night comes, the creaking sounds become more pronounced and constant and also heard something hit the roof. We notified the hotel manager via text and she responded that she has never heard of that issue from previous guests and there is nothing she can do as they have no other room available and suggested we use their air conditioning and wear ear plugs to conceal the sounds. Due to the constant creaking and pounding sounds, we couldn’t sleep all night. In the next morning, we looked around and found that there is a giant mango tree (approximately 50 feet tall) trunk was structurally connected to the side of our small 100 foot cottage room structure right behind the headboard and the tree branches hung over the room. As we looked into that issue, apparently whenever the wind blows, the mango tree moves and shakes the room which caused the creaking sounds. This create an uninhabited and unsafe condition. Additionally, matured mangoes dropped on the roof throughout the night. The matured mangos were left on the ground around the room which attracted many flies, yellow jacks and other insects. The hotel failed to clean up the mangos. These undisclosed/hidden conditions of the cottage were unacceptable and significantly departed from the description of the room we booked on the website.

Hi Jenny:We are sorry that the Puerta Azul experience did not live up to your expectations. You were correct that the mango tree located adjacent to the 2 bedroom garden casita is in full bloom right now and on that windy night was making a creaking noise against the house. Unfortunately, you did not give us any time to fix the problem. Instead, you demanded a refund and left the property. We have since fixed the problem and there is no longer a creaking noise. Also, mangos that fall on the ground are picked up daily but we do not have a full time allocated mango catcher on staff ;) Once again, we are sorry you did not enjoy your experience at our hotel and truly hope that you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Puerta Azul is off the beaten path, which provides for a nice quiet, secluded stay. That said, it's an easy 20 minute drive to West End / West Bay, where there are many shops and restaurants. Daily breakfast is included and served by a delightful staff (JudiAnn is a very cheerful server and Rose is a wonderful cook). Lunch and dinner are available six days a week (not on Sundays) and the menu for both includes some very tasty dishes. Augusta is the property manager and offers a wealth of information and suggestions as well as always being ready to call a cab or make a reservation at one of the many restaurants on the island. The end of the dock is maybe 100-150 yards from the reef, allowing for an easy swim and snorkle tour - fins and mask/snorkle are available for $10 for the duration of your stay - very convenient. If diving the reef directly from the dock is not sufficient, Puerta Azul does offer snorkling trips through Blue Reef Explorers with Antonio and Edison - conveniently located on-site. We would recommend renting a car on the island ($50 per day for a compact). Although taxis are available (and cheap), the convenience and flexibility of being able to pick up and go at a moment's notice just can't be beat. It's almost impossible to get lost on the island. Some of the roads are in fairly rough shape, albeit passable, but new concrete is being poured.

The staff was very polite explained all you needed to know for the local area. Explained local currency even tho american dollars were accepted. Gave great suggestion on things to do and eat even if it wasnt thru them. Rooms were clean and quiet internet was spotty but it was like that for the whole island. Loved not having a tv in the completely not needed. Food was great and freshly cooked. Their snorkel guide was amazing adapted locations to people specific needs.

We loved our stay at Puerta Azul. The location was gorgeous, the rooms clean, the staff friendly, and the landscaping lovely. So much time, thought and effort have gone into making it a special place. We will definitely be coming back.

I give Puerta Azul 10 out of 5 stars!! If you want a quieter oasis to unwind, relax and have access to all Roatan has to offer, Talia has made a beautiful spot for travellers to unwind with great food, great snorkeling, excursions, great staff, perfect little added touches to make your stay so special. We absolutely loved it & will be back.
