I loved how close it was to the ocean. The upgrades were nice. I felt safe with the fenced in hotel. There was a bum partying in the alley where I parked, made me a little nervous. The parking is super tight. But it is that way everywhere along the beach, so I get that part. I kind of felt that I was treated differently because I had booked via 3 rd party. I am a single mom who has to find the best deal to be able to travel. I had to pay an early check in fee, even though the room was ready. That was super disappointing. I had gotten sick at Lego Land after checking out of the hotel and just needed a place to rest next to a bathroom. The front desk did offer us the pool for free to hang out if needed. So there were other options. If I had not been ill I would have done that. There is not an elevator, which is understandable for the size of hotel. I prefer the smaller hotels with less rooms. I will stay here again. Overall I was pleased.

Cute hotel in very close proximity to many bars and the beach. However, the walls were a little thin and some of the bedrooms share a wall so I could hear my neighbors snoring and other people showering.

This hotel is for sure a 10/10! It is convenient to many different dining options and stores and super close to the beach; only like a couple minute walk! The room was perfect, I enjoyed having a living room with a big smart tv and a separate room with the bed and bathroom. It is also convenient how there is free parking because many of the other hotels I looked at were charging to park! If you have more than one car there is also plenty of street parking available ! I felt super safe in this hotel and will definitely be returning!

The closed the lobby early due to short staffing . We had a party and coiner check in until late. While they did leave instructions for after hour check in, we were unable to locate it and slept in the car. We felt a refund should be issued to the lobby closing early. We tried to get an early check-in, just an hour early, so we could avoid any issues, and they would not allow that either. In an economy, where we have many places to choose to spend our money this is not how you should treat customers. We have been going to this hotel for many, many years, and my entire family will not opt out of this choice.

Dawn thank you for your feedback. We did try to call the number we had on file all evening, prior to closing, to attempt to ask for the estimated time of arrival, but know one ever picked up nor returned our call. We did take the appropriate measures by leaving a voice message as well as emailed the after hour instructions. Our guests normally do not have an issue with the instructions of our after hour checkin procedures. We try to make this an easy process and even have an after hour number posted on our office door. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Weekend Trip
We really enjoyed this hotel stay. Check in was easy, parking was convenient and it was close to a ton of restaurants and the beach. The room was spacious and the fridge worked great which is a big plus since we often feel like hotel fridges barely work. The tv was massive and the room was spacious and very clean. They even had the Hallmark channel (I'm a nerd for Christmas Hallmark movies)! The only thing I could barely complain about is that the internet caused a few issues with the tv and I had to unplug it a few times to reset it. We'd definitely stay again and Mr. Moro pizza up the road was yum!!

Great location, tons of restaurants around. It seemed like a good and clean area, with easy access to Pacific Beach. The pool and hottub seemed pretty green so we did not end up using them, which was disappointing. Multiple times, our room was cleaned and only one of the beds was made. Also, there was a significant number of gnats and flies in our room that we couldn't seem to get rid of. I also requested to check in 1 hour early and was told I would have to pay extra to do so, but was provided my parking permit early so I could leave my car there and spend the hour down at the beach. The property shows it's age and the fact that it's right next to the ocean, which I knew going in and would have been still worthy of 5 stars if it wasn't for the bugs and the green pool.

Negatives First, our key cards kept failing. We went through at least 6 key cards on our trip. Secondly, nobody came to clean our room two days in a row even after we specifically requested someone to after they didn't come the first day. Positives Great location and very friendly/helpful staff. Good price for the location.

Very disappointing; don’t stay here.
As a travel advisor I understand that hotels are struggling with labor shortages and depleted maintenance budgets post covid, but the problems at Beach Haven also extend to their customer service standards, which are very low. We only received notice that we would have to retrieve our key from a lock box as we were on the plane ready to take off. WiFi wasn’t working for 2 days; no apology. Request to have a one hour extension of check out time was met with one word:“negative”. Bathroom door didn’t close. Towel rack was broken. No coffee maker in the room. Steps down to the bathroom are a hazard, especially at night. Very low water pressure in the shower. Windows and screens were filthy. I would classify Beach Haven as a 2 star motel. Sadly, we paid over $200 per night.

Location is great, but our room had a unforeseen expense because we had to opt into the extra fee for the "shared kitchen". It's a room between two rooms that is accessible by only a bolt lock. The one night we didn't have the kitchen our neighbors did and it was as if they were sharing the room with us. Not only was it was extremely loud, but the doors were so warped that when the other tenants used the kitchen the light shined into our room all night; and nowhere was that advertised when we were booking our room, otherwise we'd booked elsewhere. The walls are already very thin at this hotel and the extra room that was attached to another room made it even louder. The kitchen option needs to go. We were not happy about having to pay extra solely for the purpose of privacy and quiet.

We love all the refurbishments, and the option to add on a kitchen is so unique and useful! Especially if we were staying for longer. We only stayed one night, but the front desk was kind and helpful, and very personable. The only issues were the gate not working sometimes (which they are aware of and going to get repaired) and then the wifi wasn’t that great. Other than that, it was an amazing price for how close we were to the beach!

Great location, close to the beach. It ended up raining on and off during our visit, but it was great because in the pockets where it wasn't raining we could just walk on over to the beach for a stroll along the water. Lots of good food in the area, and parking at the hotel wasn't a problem. The only thing we didn't love was that the doors to the (very nice and clean) hotel rooms is a bit thin, so when children are playing in the pool you can hear them in your room. But if you're out and about, that shouldn't be a problem, the pool quieted down by nighttime.

great location close to the beach and nice that it had a pool and hot tub. Unfortunately the gate out into the alleyway did not lock upon closing so that was a concern for safety.
