This is very remote from Pisa downtown, nice and quiet but you can only eat the hotel food.

Overall delightful
It’s an amazing old villa where the grand dukes of Tuscany used to stay. The room had a bit of an old smell to it, but sleeping under that frescoed ceiling was definitely an experience. The only issue we had is trying to locate the staff at the spa and at the bar, everyone was MIA for some unknown reason.

Old building, impressive, looks like an old castle, The room is nice and with all facilities, in the sower the toylet flashing system made some issues, the thermal pools are nice but looks old. My felling was that all spa pools and area need some paint. We had one day and it was nice, 15 minutes from Pisa tower, breakfast is very nice

Amazing property with beautiful amenities. The staff was warm, efficient and ready to please. A special thanks to Carlo at the front desk who helped us coordinate a special event and Rami in the bar area that went out of his way to help us also. It’s a must stay!!

Thermal pools are very unique. We missed the train to the station that is so close to the hotel, so we ened up taking the bus (could find NO taxis in Pisa) that drops off outside the town. It was very inconvenient with a large suitcase. So glad the hotel was accommodating and let us check in early and use the pools! We needed it.

Wasn’t worth the price. The shower in our suite was clogged and tiny, making it uncomfortable to use. Would not recommend.

The thermal baths were overcrowded and for the pools extra fee. The room description on Expedia web is not the same as the hotels. Thus a point of conflict.

The excellent spa facilities and grounds. Beautiful tasteful interior decor in keeping with type if property. I missed having a kettle on the room to make a cup of tea. Access to pools were not wheelchair or disability friendly. There were lots of steps to access the pools. The bed didnt have a duvet cover, which I see a lot in Italy. The duvet should have a washable cover.The staff in general were friendly and helpful , however acces toTherme facilities were not properly explained to us. The Gardener was very helpful and friendly and very happy to speak English.

Das Hotel war unter der Woche fast nicht gebucht. Der Check-In war unproblematisch und freundliche. Hotel, Zimmer und Betten waren sehr gut. Das Restaurant haben wir nicht genutzt, das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Für Ruheenthusiasten ist es leider nicht geeignet. Die Straße welche um das Hotel führt wird leider von Jugendlichen als Treffpunkt genutzt. Was ich auch nie verstehen werde, ist, dass morgens zwischen 5 und 6 Uhr die LKW´s vor den Zimmern vorfahren und lautstark polternd Kisten und sonstiges ins Hotel befördert wird. Wenn man um 8.00 Uhr ansteht, ist es dann wieder absolut friedlich.

Special place
Special place with an illustrious history, both literary and royal. My friend and i felt like princesses there in our canopied beds, and the spa feels like ancient Roman baths. The setting, in front of a ruin littered hill, is lovely. The Shelleys and Lord Byron stayed here.

hotel molto bello , ampio e tenuto benissimo . personale super gentile, mai visto una cosa del genere in Toscana!! SPA e zona termale eccellente, tenuta bene e pulita. Professionalità tra gli operatori, buona organizzazione . Unico neo: la struttura è bella, ma sarebbe un po' da rimodernizzare.

This is a nice place to stay. The staff is kind and helpful. The pools are great. It’s easy to get lost on the property and have to get different elevators to reach one’s room. I think there is need for some renovation, while keeping the vibe and style of the hotel.

Dear Jennifer,First of all thanks for your review and the time dedicated.I am sorry to notice that some aspects of historical palace did not meet your satisfaction but please allow me some puntualizations:1) you had a very nice free upgrade in a junior suite, 3 categories higher than what you booked.2) the AC worked properly; only beacause in the first floor (yes you had a very big room in two levels, with original frescoes of '800 century) the temperature was 25 C degrees that does not mean there was no AC at all...3) as apologize to not perfectly meet you expectaitions we refund you 1/3 of the rate as discussed during the check outThank you for sharing with us your feedback.Best Regards,Thomas ParentiGeneral Manager

Steer clear
This hotel simply does not meet five star standards. It is run down and the staff are far from offering five star service. First off, the check in took a long time. We were told to wait in our room for the ‘spa kits’ which never came. We eventually came back down to the reception to collect them ourselves. The paint in the room and common areas is peeling in areas. The spa area also has a run down feel to it, not to mention the appetising rotten fruit… (see photo) The relaxing areas are not the least bit attractive with stains on the chaise longues and a gloomy feeling. At check in we were told that we could opt for half board if we wanted and this was an option we could think about. When we went to dinner, we informed the waiter (he appeared to be the head waiter) of our desire to opt for this. His answer was that this simply wasn’t possible…. I’m not sure I understand what the issue was. If we had needed to inform the reception first I’m sure he could have made a call to them indicating our room number and getting this resolved, but no. His attitude was not what is expected in a five star hotel lacking professionalism and desire to make the stay as pleasant as possible for the customer. I would recommend to steer clear of this hotel. It looks nothing like the photos.

Ótimo restaurante
Hotel muito bem localizado para visitar Pisa (4 kms) e Lucca (12 kms), para quem está de carro. O prédio foi uma Villa de férias do Duque da Toscana então é bem típico. Nosso quarto e banheiro eram grandes, café da manhã farto, boa roupa de cama. Decoração tradicional da década de 40/50. Destaque para o restaurante do hotel, muito bom!

Posto molto bello. Albergo grande ed elegante. Terme e trattamenti estetici fantastici. Grande assortimento di vasche calde, al chiuso ed all’aperto, con idromassaggio o con acqua salata. Insomma, veramente l’imbarazzo della scelta. Unica pecca nel mio soggiorno: alle nove del mattino ogni giorno arrivavano rumori assordanti di mobili trascinati e sbattuti dal piano di sopra. Non siamo riusciti a capire perché, ma era veramente fastidioso.

A quiet get a way was what we were after and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. The food is excellent, the room comfortable and I especially liked that the chambermaid came by every evening to ask if we required anything more. The baths were sometimes overcrowded, and not enough beds for every one. I think that in these times of pandemic, someone should supervise and make sure that the pools hold the number of persons they are supposed to, not more. The staff is well trained in hospitality, and they get top marks for their courteous demeanor.

Struttura di elevata caratura storica immersa nel verde, sembra di vivere una esperienza di altri tempi. spazi immensi , come anche le camere, servizio ineccepibile, e molta disponibilità e cortesia. purtroppo essendo una struttura "antica" alcuni servizi possono risultare scomodi.. molta strada da fare da un servizio all'altro, e spesso ci si perde.. ambienti un po troppo ampi e a volte freddi (almeno a dicembre). nota per il ristorante, tutto molto buono, ma un po caro..

We booked this hotel as for its facilities. On arrival the restaurant was fully booked and they were completely inflexible. We had two rooms the air conditioning in both did not work properly. As we had to depart early we ordered a take away breakfast. The fruit salad in the breakfast was fermenting. This is a hotel that thinks it’s good but fails to deliver on the basics.
