Hola Elizabeth, Our location is excellent, located on Avenue 7 only 4 blocks ( 400 meters) from Central Avenue (odd-even numbering system)We offer Free, off-street, covered secure parking. When you enter the lobby all you have to do is ask for the parking. We have cameras and remote control to open and close the door as most hotels do in big cities.The main point is the Parking and Hot Cooked Breakfast are Free! Thank you for your kind words.Cheers

Hi Mary, Yes, there is a sports bar across the street, it's named Harry's. Harry opened it maybe 25 years ago, Sold it to Larry, and now Gerry owns it with his wife, all North Americans. It's a local bar.I apologize that the sight of the person was unsettling to you. I am happy to say San Jose is nothing like Portland, LA, Philly, or any of the many other US cities that are crumbling.Many of our clients cross the street and enjoy some of Costa Rica's flavor, they offer good food and drinks. Local beers, Costa Rica's outstanding Rum and Guaro.Thank you Thomas

Hi Rachelle, I verified your reservation, you booked one night in an economy room, our cheapest. For a few dollars more one can select one of the other 4 room types we offer, some with balconies! The original property was built in 1908 for a family of (10 Children) almost 9000 sq. ft. and is a registered property. The original, hand-made mosaic tile floors are in the room you stayed in, room 10, so it's not shiny and new, but many clients value the history. Sounds as if you have never visited a Latin American country before. And most likely don't speak Spanish. For first-time visitors, this can be a change. I appreciate your post about a pool and a gym, there is also a jacuzzi above the pool with a waterslide and we include a hot cooked typical Costa Rican-style breakfast in the restaurant by the pool/garden area.I am happy to say that there are thousands of reviews from the past 34 years, which one may assess an informed idea of Costa Rica.Thank you

Hi Nicole, We don't have closed closets in the rooms as the humidity level is too high in the green season and produces mold. What we do have is an open rack with handmade and hand-carved decorated end holders to hang one's clothes. But I must apologize to you. You were in room 2 and we just remodeled it and this was not reinstalled. I will take care of that ASAP. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.CheersThomas

You booked an economy room, our cheapest and we Free double Upgraded you to room 26, which is upstairs in our newer annex with two queen-sized beds. None of those rooms have carpets.Hotels are constantly replacing towels, all you need to do is ask for different ones if you do not like the one you have. I am happy to say that there are lots of reviews that speak of the hotel's cleanness, which one can review.Thank you Thomas

Over 9000 sq. feet in the original property, they had 10 children. Then we were blessed to purchase the adjoining properties and I designed and built the projects these past 33 years with my crews.We are not a standard cookie-cutter such as a Motel 6 or any of the other chain hotels. If this is what you are looking for, then please don't select us.If you wish to enjoy a part of Costa Rica's great past and take home lasting vacation memories, then this is the spot.I will make sure my staff sees your posting and we all thank you very much and looking forward to your return!

Hi Henry, I have verified your photos and your comments presented here. I appreciate you pointing out these issues and am addressing them with my staff and maintenance personnel as I write this. Checked your reservation you and your family were in room 9 for two nights. A first-floor, room from1908 and has been updated. I understand your anger and when it rains, it pours.Let me address your comments.The black deposits in your photos come from the high winds we just had (transition from winter to summer) and not any mold. I have instructed my staff to be sure, close the windows, and inspect the rooms again before going home for the day. I apologize for the dust. These winds are already subsiding.I have instructed my front desk staff to be sure to advise the cleaning staff to add extra towels when there are 4 persons in our large rooms. Sorry, we missed that. When a client requests more towels, we give them no problem: as in every hotel. All you had to do was ask. We will review our towel supply and as always, we are constantly replacing towels. Concerning everything else I get it you were angry. I am on top of everything and again thank you for your input. It appears our free everywhere high-speed optical internet worked for you as well as the Free Hot Cooked Breakfast served by the floral garden areas next to the Jacuzzi and pool were, pleasing.On another note, I am happy that there are thousands of reviews all over the internet from the past 33 years for our prospective visitors to make an informed decision.Again I apologize we did not make you and yours happy.William Thomas DouglasOwner/Operator
