The location was perfect. It is right in the middle of everything, but set back so it feels quiet and serene. Steve and are always around - Rey accessible and very helpful. The rooms are lovely. It is so unpretentious. The only quibble I have is breakfast. This an inn with a lot of hikers and outdoor people, yet there are really no healthy options other than yoghurt. Berries or whole wheat bread we be nice. Otherwise it’s lovely. The outdoor space is very welcoming. Breakfast is outside. There is afirepit at night. We loved it.

What wasn’t unique about this property?!! This was a peaceful retreat filled with art , eclectic decor, privacy,comfort , and everything you might need for a Sedona vacation, with none of the pretentiousness of a large resort . The nicest owners and staff, and a juniper fire pit burning every night on the peaceful garden patio. not a single complaint. Loved having coffee , wine , snacks and drinks available- we had all we needed for our hikes and outings .We were given many great tips with a personal touch . Highly recommend this true gem.

This was, by far one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed in. There was a slight snafu with check in (Expedia’s issue). But after that it was smooth sailing. The location, the room with its stunning design and furnishings, the amenities…shall I go on? Our host was friendly and accommodating. We didn’t want to leave the room!

I absolutely loved staying here! I am already planning my next trip :) It felt like staying in someone's home who was really happy we were there! Everything we needed and friendly greeting when we arrived. So quiet and so fun to walk to the shopping areas and restaurants instead of driving. I loved all of the fireplaces and looking at all of the owner's collections. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place!

Great place to stay feels very authentic western. Nice breakfast and snack area. Colored lights over the garden area and fire pit really adds to the atmosphere. Convenient location for shopping, dining land hiking

This property is a jewel. Great location. Rooms are fantastic and unique. The amenities are top notch with a daily fire pit in the out door courtyard for relaxing at the end of a day exploring the amazing area. Steve, owner, and his staff make a stay here worth the price. Excellent choice, if you have the money.

El Portal is a little gem of a property, located conveniently next to Tlaquepaque in the center of Sedona, with comfortable rooms and historic architecture, and a helpful and friendly staff. We have stayed at several good properties in Sedona, but from now on we will come back to El Portal.

Love the rustic feel intamite feel of the property. The staff is so friendly. She walked us to our room showed us how to use the fireplace, jazzcuzi tube and TV. There are complimentary snacks and drinks in the lobby. The property is super pet friendly, they even have pet baskets, that have hotel suppplies for the dogs.

If you are looking for a relaxed, romantic, secluded yet accessible location in Sedona, there is no better option than El Portal Sedona. Care and attention to details are what sets El Portal apart even from other boutique inns. El Porto Sedona is quiet, equipped with a fireplace, a fire pit, a shower for two, a bathtub for two, 24 hour food and drink lounge/area, friendly and attentive owners and staff, in walking distance to restaurants and shopping, open garden patio area for sunlight and birds, a specifically designed room you would want to stay in during the day and simply a place where time seems to last forever.

Great place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay and they were helpful with things to do in the area and hikes. They had a very nice continental breakfast and even snacks for later in the day. It was also a nice location and easy to walk to nearby places.

We stayed at El Portal for our mini-moon after we eloped and had a fabulous visit. The staff was kind and helpful, and our room was cozy and romantic. Having the ability to use the hot tub & pool at the resort next door was an added bonus, and this little inn is within walking distance of the Tlaquepaque shopping village. We enjoyed wonderful meals at Rene & The Secret Garden Cafe. Book a room at El Portal, you won't regret it!

The property has "good bones" with adobe and beautiful wood beams, but the decor is shabby, tired, and cluttered. Most light fixtures were very dim, with mismatched bulbs. Lots of paintings of nude women around. There were advertisements about a wonderful breakfast, or at least a continental breakfast, but it was a nook full of mostly junk food, pop, yogurts, booze, and some pastries set out each morning. It looks like the hosts are struggling to keep up the place. It is VERY pet friendly. There is NO pool and hot tub--you pay a fee and get to walk next door and use theirs--and you HAVE to pay even if you don't want to use it! BTW--The resort next door with the pool and hot tub was AMAZING!

We’re sorry we don’t offer breakfast. We do not advertise or serve breakfast; we offer complimentary snacks. We put a variety of snacks out so people can hit the fridge whenever they like. We also have an honor system so guests can have a glass of wine or beer at the end of the day. We also offer sodas and waters.Also, there is no fee to use the hotel pool next door. Our guests use that pool for free. We don’t have nude pictures on the wall anywhere. We have fine art from the 20s. Our decor is from the arts and crafts period from the 1920s and we work hard keeping it that way. Our hotel is authentic to that style in every way. We are not a high-end commercial hotel. We are sorry you didn’t like our authentic boutique hotel. El Portal is not your average hotel.
