The old Motel 6, under a new name, is about a block away.
This is a new Motel 6, and is clean and in mostly good shape. My "disappointing" rating was principally based on my experience with the heater, on a cold night in the low 30's: the heater could not keep the room @ a constant temperature, repeatedly cycling off & on, as the room would warm up, then quickly cool down (perhaps there is far too little insulation in the walls?). Finally, about 2:30 AM, the heater went off completely!! So the rooom itself was getting close to the temperature outside! I was too sleepy to call the office, so I just bundled up & went back to sleep (hibernation?). There was a complicated-looking apparatus on the heater's power cord, but after trying a couple of the switches (to no effect), I could never get the heater to come back on, so I just skipped my morning shower and left. When I told the clerk, he mentioned those switches on the power cord possibly being the problem. That was it. Guess that I could have told him that I have to go back through Marshall in a month or two, and was intending to stay again at this motel, but after this experience, will certainly not do it. One would expect the heater in a NEW motel to work properly, but I noticed after checking in that this motel's heater were an older type that did not allow the room's temperature to be set @ a constant figure.
Everything else about the room was OK, although because of the temp., I never got to try the shower.
