Beautiful, homely hotel.
This hotel is beautiful and homely as it is split into several houses with amazing interior design, all central to Galle Fort. There’s just a few things that need sorting. We stayed in No 50, Room 1. To unlock and lock the door was a real hassle, the shower was barely warm and there was a really annoying noise that came and went all day and all night! We have reported these things, so hopefully they will be rectified. Otherwise, a great stay.

Impeccable Service & Property
My wife and I stayed two nights at No. 50 Lighthouse Street and immediately knew that it would not be long enough. Fortaleza offers five locations within Galle Fort, and I can't imagine that any would be less wonderful than ours. Upon check-in, we were presented with a welcome drink and some basic details about the district. I asked about jogging its perimeter, and the representative immediately informed her GM who introduced himself and invited me to join him that evening. I returned at 5p for a 5K (i.e. two laps around the fort). He provided me with a complimentary t-shirt, and we had a great [sunset] jog. My wife and another guest joined the next evening. This is a fantastic well-being initiative by the GM, and I highly encourage all guests to join. As for the actual property, it was luxurious yet understated. And the breakfast, while simple, was a perfect blend of local and western cuisines. We do not reside in Sri Lanka, but if we return to Galle there is no doubt that we'll stay with Fortaleza.

Staff made us very welcome without being obtrusive. Highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely people and wonderful villa
The villa is located right in the center of Galle fort. It was more than wonderful to stay here for 2 nights. I booked a standard room for my first night and superior room for my second night out of credit card balance concern, and the hotel upgraded my first night for free. Fortaleza runs 9 properties, and 50 lighthouse street is a villa with 3 rooms only. I was the only guest during my stay and i enjoyed the whole receiving hall and dining room.
