The price was right. Especially for St Augustine. Close to everything so if you want to save money and be able to walk everywhere this is the place for you. Not the fanciest place but not the worst either. I felt safe. Sheets were high quality and I slept sound all night. Would stay here again.

Whole property is subpar for this area, in desperate need of updating throughout. bare minimum as far as furnishings and cleanliness, towels, etc. limited outlets. bed was way too flimsey/soft, bedding very dated, poor quality.

We have stayed at this motel twice. So I guess it’s just what room you get . I think we were the only room with a paper blind that didn’t quite fit the window about 2 inches on each side was a little concerning. In the bathroom above the showerhead was a hole that they patched up with cardboard and duct tape. And there was a light outside of the window, so no matter what time it was in the middle of the night, it looked like it was 3 o’clock in the day.staff is very friendly . And the room that I had gotten before was great.

The room was extremely dirty and rundown. There were no curtains on the window, just some blinds that did not extend across the full width. I cancelled my second night, and the owner was very apologetic for putting me in that room, but they were fully booked. She offered another room, which was in much better shape, but I declined.

This hotel is a DUMP!!! I don't have enough space to write everything wrong with this place. Felt like I was at the Bates Motel or a psych hospital room. Should have left 15 minutes in. Only saving grace was we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. No soap, shampoo, conditioner, one roll of toilet paper on the holder and dingy, thin towels. Just for starters. All I can recommend is to stay away unless nothing matters to you but location

Unfortunately this property is not up to standards. The rooms have a funny smell. All the items in the room were probably picked up at a garage sale. The pillows, bed coverings, etc. do not look new. There was no hot water. It came back once, but then disappeared again. The staff was kind, and respectful, but I am sure they too know that this place should be demolished, and rebuilt brand new. The images on Expedia's web site are very misleading. I do expect a full refund for this stay. Taking a shower in very cold water when it was very cold outside is not what my doctor recommends. Looking forward to hearing back from somebody.

The only good thing about it is the convenient location. Not recommended for families, we did not stay the second night we booked. Rooms need a redo and proper cleaning, bedding and towels are old and stained.

The towels are very very dirty and stained, bad smell in mattresses and pillows. We had to go buy towels.

The motel was definitely not the nicest place…the lady at the front office wasn’t very friendly. We got into the room & noticed a big glob of hair in the bathtub, which kind of turned our stomachs. There was a hole in the bathroom wall, stuffed with toilet paper. No tissues or blow dryer to be found. Furniture was very old and unappealing. Room was fairly good sized and the bed wasn’t too bad, but wouldn’t stay there again. It was $150, which was alot less than other places around Xmas time, but a pretty good hike to the main areas. Toilet was very short…it was a long was down! 😜

Clearly under going renovations however they allowed us to check in early and leave our car after check out so we could grab lunch. Very close to downtown (walkable). Looking forward to stopping back once renovations are complete.

This is a property in transition, moving from Scottish Inn to Castillo Inn. The rooms are clearly being updated, the property is receiving attention, and the work seems ongoing. Also, this is a motel, not a high end boutique hotel. It's pricing is aligned with that. So set your expectations appropriately. That said, we stayed for four days. The location is awesome - across the street from the original Church site, and just a few minutes walk to the mail attraction. Literally under five minutes to the Jail and 'Fountain of Youth'. A couple more minutes to Ripleys, and only 10 minutes to the Fort and Old Town. We didn't drive the whole time we were there except for the last day when we drove to the Cathedral - that literally took longer to drive and park than it would have taken to walk. Our room was large and refurnished with ceramic tile floors and what looks like marble bathrooms. The bed was comfortable and the bedding excellent - and the room was quiet. Internet was fast enough for my wife to get in a day's work. There were some things they can do to make it better - new fixtures perhaps, but all in all, a good value and great location. We'll stay there again.

Location, attention to details and price!!
for an older model hotel, the Castillo Inn is verywell tended. Our room was airly spacious, had tile floors and surprosingly confortable beds and really great pillows. We had a refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom is small and lacks counter space.. the shower lacks a place to put your soap. The caretaker was very attentive to details. The location is right along A1A with shops and restaurants within walking distance, as is the fort. For the money, this is a real nice stay.

I visit St Augustine several times a year and find the Castillo the best value in town. My room has always been exceptionally clean with free on site parking. It is “no frills” but what I save in $ I use for entertaining which is a short pleasant walk away. We have spent twice as much on B&B’s in town but what we enjoy bar and restaurant hopping than spending the time and the extra money at these locations

The cleanness was very poor for the money they charge is not worthy. the refrigerator was dirty, and the blankets smell horrible. I don't think they wash those blankets every time people leave their place. The location was great for the rest I do not like it.

It was a weekend stay for the wife and I. Easy walking. Staff was very nice , hotel is not perfect but it was great for a place to sleep , would stay again. Bed was comfy and area was quiet.

Honestly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Positive are rooms are large and cold. Door to bathroom was broken off hinges, you could see into the room through the blinds when closed, television was extremely small and sound was barely understandable. Exposed cables, headboard is a piece of plywood nailed to the wall, bathroom window glass was shattered, parking is atrocious, etc. Maybe if they charged under $30 a night it would be worth it. Many better properties in the area are cheaper than the Castillo Inn. Unfortunately we booked online and they would not let us cancel without charging us anyway. Enjoy your vacation and book somewhere else!

Great stay for a great deal
Room was clearly just renovated and very clean! The bed was much more comfortable than many other chain hotels around the same price. Only issue was the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way and slid across the floor, but this really wasn't a big deal

The staff were very friendly. The room itself was not particularly clean. The towels should have been white but were very discoloured and stained. There was a cigarette burn on our sheet. I think they are trying to update but there are lots of areas that need attention. We just stayed for one night which was enough.

There was no smoke detectors, the was a 1/2 inch gap in the bottom of the door had to put a towel in it. There was hair in the shower. The beds were so worn out there was a hump in the middle.
