I have very mixed feelings about this hotel, because it could be a really good place to stay with just a few small changes and improvements. I was actually going to give it 3 stars, but there was one big thing that made me put them down to 2 which I will go into. My first impressions were really good, it's a lovely old building, has ample parking and a nice reception area. However, we got there just after 3 and the girl on reception just said wait over there - didn't tell us why, how long she would be or any information of any kind. We sat on the provided chairs whilst she seemingly did paperwork and then had a chat with another member of staff. After about 20 minutes she let us check in, but could only provide one key, which was annoying when there was 3 of us. The room itself was large and well equipped, plenty of lights, nice décor, big comfy bed plus a sofa bed etc. But upon close inspection we started to see issues - the wall above the desk was filthy and covered in various stains, the lamps and the TV were thick with dust, the TV was wonky and the bracket was obviously broken so we couldn't correct this. Then there was the bathroom, which was mostly fine except for the bath/shower, which was not only covered in grime but the dial for the shower was broken and came off in my hand! The breakfast was very average indeed, cheap ingredients, and the lady serving it on the second day was incredibly rude. They need to clean better and train the staff better too!
