Absolutely beautiful little retreat - quite a surprising little sanctity. Great place as a sleepover between a byron/Sydney drive halfway. Beautiful cottage, breakfast basket and supplies in the kitchen - kids loved the toys’

This is a beautiful property in a lovely forested area with beautiful established gardens, It's conveniently located not far off the main road between Taree and Old Bar. We have stayed twice and found it well appointed, relaxing and no-fuss interaction with the friendly and helpful owners.

We had a wonderful 5 day stay at Kiwarrak Country Retreat. It is a beautiful place with very kind, yet not intrusive, hosts.The cottage was private, very comfortable and well equipped. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. We will stay again!

The absolute quiet country location was excellent. The facilities were above expectations and the hosts could not be more helpful. The only problem was trying to leave before the 10 am check out. Will stay longer next time.

Beautiful grounds and comfortable space. Only comments would be with the need for an extra fan in one of the bedrooms on very hot days.

Spent a very relaxing afternoon and evening in the Bower Cottage at Kiwarrak Country Retreat. The grounds were lovely and the cottage was beautifully presented with everything you could possibly need as well as many thoughtful extras. Particularly enjoyed the spa and the log fire. We will definitely return.

A very special place.
Beautiful location with gorgeous amenities. Very cosy, a perfect place to relax with a book or some wine in the spa. Everything you could want is supplied. I liked it so much i immediately booked another stay so my husband could join me next time.

Lovely peaceful location.
We spent a lovely weekend here. The staff were excellent and made sure we had everything we needed. The accommodation is very private and had everything, surrounded but trees.

Quiet and peaceful.
Well worth a visit, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. The spar was a real bonus, we were sad we weren’t able to stay for longer.

Away from everything
Excellent stay. Isolated but not far from anywhere. A perfect location. The gardens were wonderful and there was plenty of wildlife. The facilities were excellent and the rooms were very well appointed.

Quiet comfortable retreat.
A beautiful, well maintained quiet place to stay. A fairy walk for the kids was a nice touch. Toys and books for the kids also made the kids day. Beautiful decor, and a lovely little find. I would definitely stay again.

Relaxing private retreat with a fireplace and spa
Didnt want to leave and cant wait to go back. Well presented and lovely hospitality. Every little detail is thought of. Private and relaxing get away. Told all our friends and now they want to go to. Located a short drive from beaches and local shops but nicely tucked away down a tree lined road. You will not be disappointed staying here

Good views
The garden as stated wasn't groomed at all, the grass was very long and we asked for fresh products and no one came back to us about it.

We were sorry to hear from your review that you felt the gardens were not groomed. We spend many hours maintaining them and the majority of guests comment on how beautiful they are. In the weeks prior to your visit we had, and continue to have, flooding rains. In this kind of weather we cannot use the ride on mower, therefore the grass had grown quite long. We also have a policy of not mowing whilst we have guests and as you were spending a lot of time in the cottages relaxing, we did not want to disturb you with our loud mower. We apologise for the miscommunication regarding availability of eggs. Our chickens were not laying at the time and we thought we made it clear that our fresh eggs may not be available. We provided you with an alternative supplier, along with their opening hours and directions on how to find them. We appreciate your feedback and hope we have addressed your concerns. Beautiful cottage I stayed in the bower,
The bower was the most romantic and peaceful cottage. You won't find anything better! The managment put there heart and soul into every little detail in the house and yard. I am a little reluctant to sing too much praise for Kirrawak...because I'm not sure I want too many people to know about this little gem - it might book out!!!! - but that would be selfish In a nutshell, Kirrawak is a slice of heaven... Location: slightly off the beaten track, hidden away, quiet, serene and picturesque countryside, yet just a few minutes off the highway and a 5 minute drive to the local beach and restaurants. Room: spacious, immaculately clean, nicely decorated and inclusive of every creature comfort you could need. It feels like a home away from home. Bedding: super comfy! Things to do: bushwalking, exploring, getting back to nature (listening to the beautiful chorus of birds) and switching off/relaxing. Lots of nice beaches, rivers, shops and restaurants just a few minutes away if you feel like going for a drive. Meals: the cottages are fully self-contained and have a bbq on the patio, so bring a few groceries if you prefer to stay put. A delicious and healthy, home made breakfast basket is provided for your first day, with fresh fruit juice, muesli and bread. Extras: organic hand lotions, shampoos, etc. add a nice, unique touch. Massages can be booked - the therapists come to you. A massage from Meg is an absolute must - so relaxing! Check in/out: quick, simple and hassle free. In summary: We were so glad to have stumbled across this little piece of paradise. The perfect place to unwind and kick back. Can't wait to go back one day.

Loved the place!
Had a great time here, almost nothing to fault. If I had to fault it it would be a few finishes like door knobs which wouldn't open or wouldn't stay closed haha. Overall but was absolutely amazing!

Lovely country getaway
We had a great two night stay with our three young daughters. Loved the fireplace! The girls loved the fairy garden, and got to help feed the chickens. A lovely peaceful spot.

Bushland retreat close to beaches
We loved the cottage which was well presented including unexpected extras like muesli, bread, milk, and juice. It is at the edge of the national park and only 10 minutes to great beaches south of the Manning River with Taree equally close in the other direction. The property is thoughtfully developed and we enjoyed walking around the ponds and trees.

Beautiful setting and lovely decor.
Really enjoyed the mown tracks through the bush land gardens and the cute fairy garden. Absolutely wonderful setting with great attention to detail in the cottage. So peaceful soaking up the sun on the lawn area.

Lovely secluded location
We had only booked the one night, due to a family farewell, but would go back any time - perfect place for a romantic long weekend. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by one of the lovely owners. We stayed in the 'Bellbird' cabin which was a perfect setting for a relaxed stay with a wood burner, comfortable bed and outdoor spa. The cabins are self contained, but if you don't want to cook dinner, take a short drive to Old Bar Bowling Club - they provide lovely meals at very reasonable prices - you won't go home hungry. A lovely breakfast basket was also supplied by Kiwarrak Country Retreat for the morning - lovely start to the day.

Romanic getaway
Our midweek stay enabled us to be the only visitors within the Kiwarrak Retreat. We arrived to the retreat welcomed by flowers and the lights on. Hot tub pre-warmed we were relaxing within ten minutes of our late check in. The room was large and well equipped. The nicest surprise was the food provided for the next mornings breakfast. It allowed us to stay a little longer in the morning and enjoy a walk around the grounds.

Tranquil retreat
Kirrawak Country Retreat is located along a dirt road a couple of kms off the road to Old Bar. There are two accommodations, joined together - one for a couple and the other for a larger group. The couple accommodation is large and very comfortable. There is a fire for heating. The pond in front of the building was hypnotically peaceful and was surrounded by birdlife and trees.

We found the Retreat to be an ideal stopover for our 10 hour drive to Sydney. Quiet, very comfortable and not too far off the Highway.

Disappointing - not recommended!
Sadly this potentially beautiful location is spoiled by false advertising, bad service and substandard accommodation. "Free Breakfast" means a minimal "muesli and juice" basket for the first morning ONLY. We asked and were refused any further breakfast supplies. Nights were very unpleasant as the (romantic) bed was just a cheap and uncomfortable springy thing that gave us sore backs. The (smelly) spa bath's noisy circulating pump was located outside the bedside window and ran all night. The room is only heated by a wood stove, which needs to be refilled every 2 hours. The fire alarm battery ran flat causing the alarm to chirp every 20 minutes during our last night. The 2 burner BBQ had a broken valve causing the unit to ignite dangerously close to the gas bottle. Finally, the lighting inside the ("The Bower") room was so poor and the room so dark, that we could not see without flashlights at 9am on a sunny morning. Only one person can read at a time (if they sit in one corner of the lounge) as the lighting is so dim. The amazing claim that Kiwarrak Country Retreat is a "romantic getaway/wedding venue" is absolutely false and misleading.
