Not really Olde Worlde, but good enough.
A bit of an over-the-top fakery of Olde Worlde German, and further out of town than I'd have liked (but that did mean that parking was easy), but overall pretty good. Excellent breakfast, and the food in their main restaurant is also very good. Could have done with better quality bed clothes (duvet was too flimsy, pillow too large and hard), but a small point among many good ones. Good value for money overall

After many grey hotels - a place with a difference
Was unsure what to expect, and happy to have done it. Walking distance from Tartu main attractions, Old town, AHHAA Centre, Waterpark. Free parking. On-site restaurant. Rich breakfast. But the point is the decor, and that was rich. Artificial Old-style in dining chambers, with lots of real old stuff hanging from walls and ceilings, occupying window sills. More of that in corridors, even more of that in rooms (get me right, gilt and fancy baroque forms in rooms, but new things only, no oldtimer cracked cups or tools in them, and drawings and paintings both old and new. Some stuffed hunt trophees in lobby. No gaudy plasticky effects, the usual way how hotels try to be ''bright''. Triple glazed windows to eliminate nighttime noises, good ventilation / condition systems, well built doors. Fast WiFi. Minus - the mattress was too soft for our liking. Overall impression that the place, especially the restaurant, is well loved by locals, with occassional concert in similarly decorated inner yard. Check-in was impeccable. In restaurant they closed the kitchen 1:20 before the closure, beware. Food was properly done and the pricing was moderate, except for beer. In one sentence, welcome change from endless colorless and boring ''Scandinavian style'' hotels You forget as You step out of them.

Avoid. Just avoid. Looks like it is situated in a cute little town, but it’s actually next to a Ford dealership on a busy road. It’s kitschy, at best. The rooms are prohibitively small and dark. The bathroom smelled like a port-a-potty and I could not bring myself to use the shower because I could barely stand to spend more than 2 mins in the bathroom without gagging. The food at the cafe was not labeled - and the porridge / oatmeal looking stuff is NOT that, so beware ! They have signs up and their website says that they take American Express, but my card was rejected and I was asked to pay with a different form of payment when I got there to avoid a fee for a cancellation. I hate that place.

Cosy place for long and short term stay
I stayed in this hotel already for several times. Everything is correct here - city center is reachable with short walking time, wifi and breakfast are good. I recommend it especially for people who travel a lot and who are tired of faceless hotels of large and mid-size chains.

Interesting hotel with a rustic, lodge type feel to it. Animal trophies displayed all over including the Dining hall. Room was fine, although a bit stuffy. Overall, it was ok for the price we paid and had free parking. 1/2 a mile walk to the old town area.

Dark, gloomy interior
Basically a faux German beer Keller with an outdoor stage and seating/dining area. The breakfast was poor and very meat heavy-no sign of pastries mentioned in a previous review. The dining room was really lacking in light, even with the lights on. Walls and ceilings covered with ancient farming implements which had a certain charm and historical interest, but left one feeling that the place was more like an over the top "Harvester". Nevertheless, in the interest of fairness the place was very popular with local people and the theatre was packed out for the two nights we were there; the first night being a comedy play, but in the Latvian language and the second a Latvian folk music duo who were very good, even though we didn't understand a word. Theatre performances were free for residents.

Great atmosphere and interior - would give even 10, not only 5 stars for that. All the rest was completely fine as well - rooms clean, staff helpful, breakfast tasty, free parking and good internet.

Good value hotel
I booked this as a cheap hotel for my stay in Tartu - I wasn't expecting it to be a 5 star penthouse, but it was good at what it did - provide a clean room, with a comfy bed, and free wifi and breakfast. It was a little bit out the way, but only a 10 minute walk from the centre.

We were surprised the interior of the restaurant. It was like a museum but with a difference to hang old things on the ceiling. Good idea!. My wife was specially keen of this way. The yard was made with interesting way and resembled like a court.

The walls were a little thin, but this is a very nice hotel and easy walk from the bus station 1 kilometer and a restaurant with good food and staff. Good place to stay.

Hotel close to city AHAA science museum
Very nice atmosphere, interesting interior, staff friendly and welcoming. First we got lost, as we were trying to enter trough back yard and we could not as it was locked. But then we found the right entrance :-D The room was good. The hotel was very close to Science museum, which was our goal for trip in Tartu. And from the science museum the city center is also in a walking distance. Would definitely come back again.

Old style European hotel on the main road
The hotel is located about 1 km south of the city center on the main thoroughfare in/out of town, next to a car dealership. It has an old-style feel about it with the way that the rooms have been decorated. The rooms are given numbers and names of various European cities. Wi-fi connectivity was good in the room. There was satellite TV with 1 channel in English. The only negative was mosquitoes in the room. The reception staff was very helpful with tourism information. There is a restaurant and open air theater for concerts normally held on the weekend.

Nice hotel in Southern Estonia
Hotel was in good shape with rustic décor. Staff was friendly with good English. Room was sparse, but clean and comfortable. Free parking and wifi was a plus. Had dinner at attached restaurant/bar, which was good, but nothing special. Breakfast in the morning was also very basic. Did not leave the hotel at night so not sure what is in area.

It takes you back in time, but without the associated lack of modern conveniences. It was clean quiet and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Good wireless. Food in the attached hotel was good. Prices were reasonable. About 15 minutes walk from the old town.

Great hotel with a lot of character
We really like the Hansa hotel and have visited on several different occasions. The hotel is not far from the center of town and close to the Eeden shopping centre. The medieval style makes this hotel different from most places you'll stay in Tartu. The rooms are massive with good facilities. The staff are friendly and speak English.

We would never stay here again! We called the desk about 11:30 pm. that the band and the noise was terrible. They promised to do something about it. Instead, the beat of the base drum, the loud music, and the noise from the people Did NOT STOP until 4:30 a.m. It was a HORRIBLE night!

Good Choice if you need to catch an early morning bus
Hotel is clean, staff is friendly. Location is very convenient for making an early morning bus, though otherwise a little quiet and away from the action (is right near major roads leading out of Tartu). Walls are very thin between rooms, though rooms are otherwise comfortable.
