Overall, this place is very nice. We liked the open foyer area and the vibes. We were a bit disappointed by the bedroom which has a bit of a hostel feel to it. The staff was also uneven: very friendly one day, a bit short the next. The French helper/waitress for instance did not smile much. The communal dinner could have been fun, but the wine they had (only 1-2 types) was absolutely awful and not cheap. Also, I ordered the steak "very rare" but it came well done. They were kind enough to substitue, but the second one I got was still fridge-cold, almost as to spite me....

Fantastic property with beautiful views. Most of the irritants that others reviewed didn’t bother us at all (small shower, no A/C, etc) other than the paper thin walls. You can absolutely hear everything from all your neighbours. I don’t necessarily think it was the walls but more that because there is no A/C, everyone has all their windows open. The food was absolutely fantastic and the owner Joel was very attentive and a pleasure to talk to! I would definitely stay here again!

it was 90F and no a/c, no shampoo/conditioner, very very timy bathroom. for a place that is so expensive, basics were missing. positive - food was great. views are great everyone in staff is super attentive and helpful. the chocolate tour is awesome. night safari was a waste of money. would not recommend. my take is that it is an overpriced place for amenities it offers, and would probably go there just for the food.

Beautiful gardens and a great view of Mt. Tenario. The food was very good and the steak was the very best we had in Costa Rika.

Absolutely beautiful lodge
We stayed here for one night on our Costa Rica family trip and we wished we had booked more nights. The lodge is run by a French expat who built the property with his wife 17 years ago. The lodge itself is wonderful. Clean large rooms, beautiful indoor/outdoor common area with garden and dining area, and a large professional kitchen that opens up to the dining area. Breakfast is included and was wonderful. Dinner is a small addon and is well worth the price. Each course was introduced by the owner and many incorporated local ingredients that we had never experienced. If you are coming to Bijagua, do yourself a favor and book Celest Mountain Lodge for a few nights and enjoy the property and food. We really enjoyed our short stay!

Best food in Costa Rica!
Every detail of this beautiful hotel is carefully designed w eco conscious methods. Owner is delightful and built it himself! French chef made the dinners and food incredible, some of the best meals of our lives. Will return!

While food prepared thrre was well prepared and flavorful, they served dinner for everyone AT seven, and as a result, our food for dinner was barely warm to cold when we received it. Breakfast, which was good and plentiful, was served the same way; all plates were prepared at once.

Great Eco friendly lodge in the area
My Dad, brother and I just stayed one night and enjoyed our stay. The stay were nice, and the property with it's hedge row garden and mountain views were pretty. It's a good option to visit Rio celeste. Breakfast was plentiful and they catered a bit for our dietary needs which was very kind.

This lodge is mostly made with sustainable materials and has a beautiful garden and property nearby and with a view of the vulcano Tenorio. This property includes breakfast and offers a great affordable dinner.

Fabulous Stay
This was a gem of a find. Joel the owner was on top of every detail of your stay. The meals prepared were exquisite. Family style tables that allowed you to meet other travelers and exchange past places visited and or give ideas of where to go next. Birds eye view of the beautiful garden where you could watch birds for hours. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Don’t skip dinner
This place was truly a wonderful spot for us. They have a beautiful view over looking gardens that are often filled with birds. There was a lovely breeze that came in through the windows all night (which made no AC no problem) and we fell asleep to the sounds of the rainforest. We opted for dinner and it was the best food we had in Costa Rica. We also hiked their private trail in the rainforest and it was so nice and peaceful. I would come again and stay more than one night and get dinner every night.

Mixed experience, wouldn’t stay again
Very friendly owner, beautiful view and great dinner/breakfast! Comfort level was ok but relatively basic for price we paid compared to other places we’ve stayed in Costa Rica. 3 big negatives: 1) guide booked by the hotel for tours was ok for the night tour but very bad for the rio Celeste, rushing through it in 2hrs barely looking for animals (he only spotted 1 snake, +we saw 3 others thanks to other guides who found them), 2) we had very poor sleep as we could hear trafic from the road despite our earplugs, 3) there are no full blinds and we’re awaken with the sun around 6am

Loved it all! Reception greeted us with an explanation of everything on the property. Meals were gourmet calibre. The owner and staff felt like friends and we were only there for 24 hrs. Grounds and surroundings are spectacular. As there is no air conditioning, the only thing I would suggest would be fans in the room to help circulate the air brought in through the open blinds. But this was minor.

This is a lovely building and property. The host is friendly and treats his guests as if they are friends. The restaurant prepares wonderful meals.

The Celeste mountain lodge is exactly what the pictures. It is set in the rainforest, great scenery and the staff was friendly and eager to assist. The landscape around the lodge was beautiful. Each morning I had coffee and watched the birds in their natural habitat.

Consider this lovely retreat for your stay
Great hotel with beautiful views. The grounds attract the most stunning birds and just sitting and enjoying their calls was heavenly. The meals were out of this world. Full of flavor. The staff is kind and friendly. Will go again without question.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lodge. The place is so unique that staying there is an attraction in itself. We stayed 2 nights while visiting Rio Celeste and just loved the gardens, view from the dinning room, and of course the food-which was the highlight of our stay. Even my picky teenage son loved that food. 3-course dinner 25$, lunch 15$ and breakfast was included in our room rate. Small but very comfortable and well designed rooms, great bathrooms and I loved that it was all eco-friendly and upcycled. Great wifi. There is even shoe washing station outside so you can clean your very muddy shoes from Celeste hike. I would definitely stay there again, and will recommend it to anyone.

Very nice and quiet hotel who is run by a great french guy who is taking a really good care of the hotel. But as everyone mentioned, the dinner here is absolute top. If you are looking for a European style dinner made from local products, this is the right place. Thank you very much and Kudos to the ladies in the kitchen, great job!

Mejor que muchos cinco estrellas.
Magnífico sitio. Ideal para situar el campamento base visitar varios Parques Nacionales, junto a Tenorio, relativamente cerca de Rincón de la vieja, Arenal y Rosas. Tranquilo, practico, limpio, con jardines y tiene una ruta exclusiva para senderismo dentro del volcán Tenorio.
