I stayed at the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel and had mixed feelings about my experience.
One of the standout positives of this hotel is its perfect location, which is convenient for exploring Shinjuku and the surrounding areas. However, there were some significant downsides to my stay.
Firstly, the noise level was a major issue. The limited space in the capsules didn’t do much to insulate against the noise, making it difficult to get a peaceful night’s sleep.
Another downside was the shared bathroom and sauna facilities. While shared amenities are common in capsule hotels, the fact that you have to share them with 10 to 20 other people can be uncomfortable, especially when it comes to the communal showers.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of my stay was the strict check-out policy. Even if you’ve booked a longer stay, you’re required to leave the hotel from 10 am to 2 pm every day. This can be incredibly inconvenient, especially in adverse weather conditions. The small cabinet on level 3 provided for storage was insufficient, forcing guests to leave their larger bags in an open area, which raised security concerns.
In conclusion, the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel has an excellent location but falls short in terms of noise levels, shared facilities, and the restrictive check-out policy. It’s important to consider these factors when choosing accommodation in Shinjuku.
