Great location. Spacious unit and well appointed. BUT on a very warm and humid weekend, the air-conditioner was broken and offered no relief. We were given a pedestal fan (no ceiling fans in the unit) which offered only mild relief. Management suggested many other properties did not use a/c (though lots of a/c were heard) and to open up the windows and doors which were all unscreened. We expressed concern about bugs but we were told that on Maggie Is there are very few. We tried all windows and doors open, and the bugs came in in force. A disappointment as we had southern visitors staying elsewhere and we couldn’t invite them to have dinner with us as it was so hot in the unit.

The room was small and the Airco rooming was extremely bad. Terrible mostly smell in room and dampness on ceiling and floor (slippery and dangerous. Roller blind fell down and was jammed the entire stay, blocking view. Carpet dirty and stained. Didn’t like shower over bath. Not enough utensils in kitchen. Didn’t like high chairs (stools) over dining table. Pool had missing tiles and surrounding tiles needed cleaning. Garbage smell near entry. Ceiling in bathroom needed pairing. Wouldn’t recommend and certainly wouldn’t book there again.

The location in the island is beautiful and convenient- right by the ferry, coffee shops, restaurants, and an IGA. The room itself needed serious cleaning and furniture updates. We did not feel comfortable sitting on the gross couches, and there were 10-12 spiders by the sliding door.

My three girlfriends and I stayed in a two bedroom apartment with ocean views. We loved our accommodation. It was so close to the ferry terminal and we could hire one of the Topless cars right next door also. The IGA and bottleshop we're also super close so it felt very accessible and made our stay so much easier. We loved the variety of pools and gyms, we could always find a pool out of the wind. We were so, so pleased that we decided to stay here. The apartment had everything we needed.

Booked a 3 b/r apartment, which they then called to say after booking they had none left so we would have to take a 2 bedroom instead. No problem with that but was not given any indication whether a refund would be given. Called the day of check in to question what was happening and was met by an abrupt lady who answered the phone just saying “hello” Which made me second guess I even had the right number. She then proceeded to tell me that even though we paid for a 3 bedroom we would still be getting charged the same amount for 5 people because “they had to account for 5 people staying in the room” I would have been fine with paying for the extra roll out bed...if the difference wasn’t almost $100. I didn’t bother discussing this further with her because it seemed as though I would get no where. I’m a pretty easy going person and wouldn’t have minded if she had been a bit more polite or reasonable but I don’t really think this was fair-I will not be staying here again.

Great views....disappointing amenities
Expensive apartment and very light on for amenities given it had a full kitchen and laundry. Broken saucepan. No big bowls for fruit or oven proof bowls for heating things up. Shelf in oven so badly damaged you can’t pull it out to change shelves. 1 sachet of laundry liquid for entire stay and 2 towels. No housekeeping at all. Also, no wi-fi. Advertised in the blurb when booking but when you get to the apartment, the fine print on your check in key card states internet available in the reception only. Pools and spa disappointing - spa not heated at all and same temperature as pool. Very disappointing for the price paid.

Amazing view, beatiful spot . The actual room is really dated and in serious need of maintainence. Pool was off limits for unknown reason. Not worth the significant price tag for the stay

We got the apartment overlooking the pool on the same level as the pool. There is no privacy and people in the pool are 2 metres away. Luckily we were able to change rooms otherwise it would have been terrible. The room was amazing and so was the bath.

Great location during Magnetic Island Race Week. Short walk to marina, local IGA and ferry serivce. Ground floor 3 bedroom apartment quite spacious with bonus covered internal breezeway and walled front courtyard. Some maintenance issues such as loose tap in 2nd bathroom leaking into cupboard below, dusty bed frame in master bedroom, very grotty sink waste in main bathroom.Sheets and doona cover in one bedroom stained. Faults reported were either rectified or logged for further maintenance attention.

Our first room was disappointing. There was something smudged on a door, a broken bathtub facet, and mould. But the manager was great when I brought these issues to her attention and she moved us to another room. The property has a great location and I highly recommend a water view room. I would stay again, only because the manager was so accommodating and the view of Townsville was beautiful at night.

Mediocre at best. No Wi-Fi; Room not cleaned during stay. Complex is in a good location, right in next to the ferry terminal, but tired. Setup is a serviced apartment, but our room wasn't cleaned during our 6-night stay. Misleading description on Expedia as there technically is "Free Internet" but you have to go to the reception area to use it - no Wi-Fi in the room. Kitchen contained a random selection of equipment. No oven trays, no cutting boards, but 5 vegetable peelers. Whole place needs a re-vamp and some consistency.

Close to Nelly Bay ferry. Inadequate window coverings in bedroom, so very light early in the morning. Not good if wanting to sleep in & need a dark room. No bar or restaurant on site

Hervorragende Lage direkt am Meer, super Ausblick.
Leider ohne Wlan auf dem Zimmer. Interenet gab es nur im Bereich der Rezeption. Wenig Geschirr. Für den Preis unakzeptabel. Sonst wer kein Interent braucht und nicht selber kochen möchte eine der besten Unterkünfte auf der Insel.

We booked and played through wotif when we arrived the hotel charged my credit card again. I had to go to the reception and fix this the next day , took some covencing that the mistake was there's and not mine. We played extra for ocean view with a bath. Only problem we had a ground floor room on the public pool. Unless we closed blinds everyone at the pool had a full view of us. We didn't use the bath due to privacy we were basically in the pool area. We were woken at 5am by cleaner metres from our bed. We were given a 2 bed apartment but asked not to use second bedroom or bathroom, we tried to close these rooms off but were unable to pull the sliding doors closed. The other issue is secure are still holding out security deposit one week after our visit. Location was great just lack of privacy and problems with payments

Disappointing view
Overall we had an enjoyable stay during our two nights at this hotel. We were extremely disappointed with our allocated room, however. We were positioned directly above the entrance gate - people could see directly into our room when entering/exiting the hotel and the gate constantly squeaked as it opened and closed. We also had a wonderful view of dirt - yes dirt, what I can only guess is the start of some sort of construction which was definitely not what we would like to be looking at when we look out the balcony doors. Hopefully they get that sorted out soon.

nice modern hotel with amazing views
loved our stay here when we visited magnetic island for two nights. The room was beautiful with stunning views of the marina nelly bay and townsville, staff were very helpful especially the pretty young lady although i don't remember your name, your a legend! will definitely be back.

Unclean room and terrible service.
My first room I was shown to on arrival was a 2 bedroom suit that was half closed off, in an unclean and in a lot of cases broken manner. I was shown to a second room with no apologies which was in a very similar, unclean state. I had originally booked a 1 bedroom studio apartment but was told on arrival that the manager (Rita) had decided to give my room to someone else. I will definitely not being staying at the Grand Mecure Magnetic Island again and will most likely not stay at another Grand Mecure either. Wotif was extremely helpful though and made sure that I recicieved a full refund.

Lovely ocean views
We loved the apartment, particularly the ocean view. It is somewhat unusual not to have a door to the bathroom, so that it is possible to watch someone having a shower whilst sitting on the balcony. Would also suggest that a non slip mat in the bath would be useful/safer as I slipped getting out of the deep bath resulting in a nasty bruise on my leg. That aside though, would definitely stay here again. Also note that there is no DVD player or Wifi as advertised.

This was the first holiday we have had since our kids were born so it was supper exciting,we had a great time driving around to all the different bays on the island & also a beautiful sunset cruise on the Pilgrim Yacht,we will be back in the future

NO HELP WITH GETTING STUCK IN THE LIFT.
We had to wait 15mins to be allowed up to our rooms, even though it was 1/2hr after check in. 6 of us then got into the lift, only to find it would not go anywhere. we tried all buttons, then rang for help, only to be told to hold certain buttons down for 10 sec and then they hung up on us. After we tried all the buttons again, we rang a second time, to be told the same thing. So we tried the buttons again. Then she asked us where we were, and had no idea where Magnetic Island was. By this stage one of the men managed to get his fingers into the door and open it. The lift was about 10cm below floor level. We all escaped, and I went to inform the reception what had happened so they could fix the lift. A man who appeared to be staff followed us back, being extremely defensive about the problem. Very disappointing. The cleanliness was lacking as well, chairs outside were dirty and stained, and the flannel was not a clean white. 1 small soap that was insufficient and a lounge chair that was extremely uncomfortable. I will not stay there again.

Very disappointing
A beautiful view and great position. Staff were very inefficient and not at all helpful. We didn't have enough towels for everyone and had to share towels the first night. The only glasses were wine and spirit glasses, no glasses for drinking water! The aircon didn't work in the lounge room and main bedroom. When we told reception a chap came up and turned it on and left. The motor was running but nothing was coming out of the vents. When we mentioned to him again the next day he just said he wouldn't be able to get a airconditioning mechanic on the weekend anyway. When we went to reception to ask for more towels, glasses etc the manger proceeded to tell us about all her problems with staff. We were there for a break after going through a cyclone and the clean up after the cyclone so her problems didn't interest me at all. We all loved the island but wouldn't recommend the accommodation to anyone.

Nice apartments, great pools and view.
Room was well equipped apartment style. Excellent for mixing a bit of self catering and eating out when you fancy. Apartments in good condition but beginning to age just a little as the complex is about 10 years old, as a result a paint refresh and replacement of some of the items would go a miss. We have stayed at both the Grand Mercure apartments and Peppers across the road. Not much between them but the GM room we had did have a fantastic view over the water. Would stay again.

Great views over the bay
Stayed in September the weather was magnificent our balcony view over the bay always had watercraft coming and going. We had rock wallabies on our doorstep. There are 4 pools to choose from to follow the sun. Our room was clean and tidy though a little tired and the couch was uncomfortable. The staff were friendly and the hotel is well placed near the ferry terminal, bus around the island and IGA supermarket. There is no restaurant or spa at the resort but both are close by. Would stay here again.
