Very friendly and helpful staff. Historic building well maintained. Excellent food both for dinner and breakfast.

Family Xmas gathering
We booked The Chequers Inn as were meeting up with family over Xmas. Between us all we booked 7 rooms. We were late checking in as had travelled down & were meeting family elsewhere first. Despite the lateness there were no issues & we checked in quickly. Very happy with my room, clean, attractive & comfortable. We had drinks in one of the lounge rooms and service was speedy & friendly. Breakfast was good. Would happily return aa was a lovely place.

Terrible night at unfamous hotel.
The hotel looked respectfull and had good size car park at rear. We had room in coach house ,which is on back ,by the car park. Our problem was squeaky and noisy flors above us. People from upstairs room came back to room.at1.30 am and woke us up. We had very poor night sleep .We could hear everything ,every step they made,etc. I think there is not any sound isolation at all ,especially on ceiling. We joked that hotel manager should spend night in coach house Nr16 with people above head. Then may be problems could be sorted. I would not advice to stay in coach house, unless you are absolutely desperate. At least not in downstairs rooms. Arturs Groza .

We arrived after the kitchen had closed but they were happy to sort something out for us - much appreciated , accommodation was fine - remember this is a very old building !

Excellent hotel and staff
Hotel was in a good location, easy off road parking, clean comfortable room, great staff. Full english breakfast was freshly cooked with lots of healthy options available.

A well priced well run hotel
Lovely old building had a huge superior suite. The property is a little run down and the cooked breakfast could be better(not a reflection on the Chef but the poor quality of the ingredients). All in all a well managed friendly hotel with beautiful villages and country walks in close proximity.

Everything was just ok with the exception of the bacon which was great, the apple juice which was equally great and the hunters chicken meal. Apart from that, everything else is just OK.

Second time visit. .
Nice pub hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable. Lunches were okay. Breakfast was plentiful but overdone eggs and under done sausages no big deal as they quickly supplied freshly cooked eggs. We enjoyed it over-all and will probably stay again next year.

Hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly. The room was just as nice and good as a big hotel chain. Bed was very comfortable and food was delicious.

Business overnight
I have stayed here a number of times for a business overnight stay. Staff team helpful and friendly, rooms clean and generous, food always reliably good. I will be back in a few months.

Night away
We stayed for one night which was really lovely . really helpful friendly staff , food was lovely, quality breakfast. There was a leak in our room going down into the bar. A plumber had to come into our room in the evening also the manager a little later who wrapped towels around the radiator . This could not be helped, they offered us a change of room but it was already the evening (hubby already asleep he slept through it all), I decided not to move . However for the inconvenience a 15% refund was given, really considerate . We definatley will return fizz Friday is appealing

Nice clean room, friendly staff. Good atmosphere in bar and restaurant area, food was good and reaonably priced. Location for Brighton was ok our main reason for staying. Bit of a shambles at breafast nothing left, full english when arrived was goid

Excellent stay all round
Really lovely hotel, bedroom was spacious and clean and really comfy and shower was excellent. Staff were very friendly and professional. Had dinner Thursday night which was superb and also the breakfast was excellent. I would defiantly stay here again if I was visiting the area.

The hotel is interesting and the staff were helpful but very stretched. Booking in was easy after a short delay but getting a drink required a lot of patience and the availability of food made ordering a bit of a have you ! No well what about ! That will be No then 😅.
