Smoke, Smoke, & More Smoke!
We were greeted rudely, then given a double room, when we had reserved a triple room. When I asked for a discount, due to the incorrect room, a triple room was magically found. The lobby smelled of cigarette smoke. The corridors smelled of cigarette smoke. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke. We were supposed to stay 2 nights, but we left after 1 night. It was miserable.

Nice hotel, but the service level was inflexible
Nice hotel, clean rooms, food OK. However, the friendliness of the staff was not overwhelming. During our stay we needed to leave 7:45 in the morning, but beakfast did not start until 8 o'clck - and this was not negotiable. Not OK for a proper hotel! We wanted to pay the evening before departure and was told that this was not possible until later in the evening. We went out to dinner, and after returning to the hotel, everything was obsiously shut down for the night. As we had to leave early the next morning, this was rather impractical. Again: not up to the service level you would expect. The setting of Oberammergau is beautiful, though.

Textbook bad hotel. Book elsewhere if you can
Staying at the Arnika is like visiting a haunted house in a theme park: you'll pay good money to feel disgust, alienation, discomfort, and then relief when it’s over. I have to agree with the other reviews here: the owners (i.e. the only people manning the reception) are truly horrible to deal with. In person they were worse than on the phone. Patronizing, hostile, self-serving. Their demeanor goes beyond any normal tolerance for "some people are just naturally warmer than others" - instead it seems like pure contempt for guests. You can say ‘good morning’ to them, but they just walk blankly past. They run a hotel but seem to hate dealing with guests. The Arnika's owners are a classic example of managers with no interest in quality or hospitality, just in exploitation. I speak fluent German and live in the region, so this perception is not down to any language barrier or culture shock. But what about the rooms? That depends how much you enjoy cold showers and finding pubes in your bed. Please enjoy the attached photos illustrating how filthy the rooms were. Sleep quality was terrible: worn-out mattress, creaking bed frame, thin curtains, no sound insulation, stuffy. You get the idea, but there's more. To be fair, the breakfast was very good. The team there was warm and attentive. The selection and the quality were above average. For example, the fruit salad was mostly fresh (rather than canned) and the coffee machine made a great cappuccino.

Out processing in NATO School finishes at 1030pm with battle dress uniform. It would be helpful, for the students lodged in the hotel, could do the check out at 1130 in order to change their clothes to civilian attire.

dear sir thank you for booking at ARNIKA***. general our check out is 11 like on many hotels around the world. a quick question at the rezeption the day before and anybody can leave the luggage in the lobby in a secure room and by coming back from course its possible to change clothes. a lot of students from nato use this. maybe also you the next tim regards ARNIKA***

Das Beste ist ..., das Wasser des Hotels ist mit Grander-Technologie! Die Lage des Hotels ist angenehm, nicht in der Mitte der Stadt, alles ist gepflegt und sauber, die Menschen sind freundlich. Das Frühstück war grossartig. Ich kann gar nichts sagen, das mir missfallen hat. Einzig mein Einzelzimmer war sehr klein und die Matratze seeeehr weich, ich hatte am Morgen jeweils Rückenschmerzen, aber die Vorlieben sind hier ja verschieden.

Amazing views of the mountains.
Room and bathroom were well presented and very clean. Amazing views from our balcony of the mountains. The hotel was an easy 10 minute walk into town. Breakfast was standard but could be improved. We enjoyed our stay here.

SPA very nice, Personal not customer orientated
Everything was very good. However the responsible person indicated strongly that we have to leave the SPA as soon at the opening time finish. But the SPA area was surprisingly very nice. For the breakfast we have been forced to take set at a table that we did not liked. The buffet was ok.

Beliggenheten er noe utenfor sentrum, men bare 10 min gange unna. Frokosten er bra, med godt pålegg og god eggerøre. En god del frukt og yoghurt er tilgjengelig. Renholdet på rommet var bra. Hele uken mens jeg bodde der lå det et visnet blomsterblad i trappa, dette burde vært fjernet. Hotellet reklamerer med free Wi-fi. Wi-fi var bare delvis tilgjengelig, og når det var tilgjengelig var det veldig tregt.

Personale gentile, cortese ed educato. Stanza e zone comuni pulite. Colazione ricca e abbondante ma non prendete l'espresso non ha nulla a che vedere con il nostro caffè, d'altronde siamo in Germania. Non è ubicato al centro del paese ma con 10 minuti di passeggiata si raggiunge facilmente. Parcheggio interno gratuito.

Mooi hotel met prachtig uitzicht op de Alpen
Dit hotel heeft een fantastische ligging vlakbij het idyllische Oberammergau. Je kan je auto gratis parkeren en op woensdag is het schnitzeltag!! (Aanrader). Liften zijn op loopafstand. De kamers zijn ruim van opzet, en typisch Duits opgezet, dus veel hout en vloerbedekking. Er is een uitgebreid ontbijt elke ochtend. Tevens beschikt hotel Arnika over een razendsnelle internet verbinding. Het uitzicht over de alpen is fantastisch!
