Theft & absolutely unconscionable, predatory business practices!!!
I made this reservation from the side of the road in the night, using my phone on the Expedia website, exhausted from driving, w 5 children. The reservation was placed after midnight, July 6, 2019. For July 6 check in - July 7 check out.
After placing the reservation I drove directly to the hotel, arriving within twenty minutes. Prepaid $188.
When I arrived, the clerk told me that I could not check in until 3:00 p.m.!
I told him we were driving, there was an accident, road closed, delayed, exhausted, need room for tonight only on our way to San Diego, but couldn't make it. Clerk informed me that he would charge me $400 as it was Saturday night & that was the Saturday night rate
Clearly, no one was going to come in after 2:30 a.m. w a party of 6 to rent a room for a few hours.
I teared & said that I could not afford that. He offered 300 price range. I told him I could not afford that either.
I asked him to please refund my money!
He told me I did not read the small print & it was my fault.
I told him I did not see that on the app at all. That the room had only been reserved for twenty minutes it could not have cost him any business.
He told me to contact Expedia.
I was turned away, mother traveling solo w 5 children in the middle of the night, in tears, with no assistance, and no offer to direct me to another motel. Unconscionable! Rodeway Inn took us in w courtesy, hospitality, respect & compassion, fair pric
