the hotel is clean but run down in areas and in need of repairs and a spruce up. the room was clean but no black out blinds and as soon as the sun was up so was i as the room was lit up by the white shutters which held out no light. the heating in the room is controlled by a central timer and it switched off at night and i was so cold but had a second duvet delivered as no heating control in the room - considering at night the temperatures dropped to single figures i would have expected to be warm in my hotel room but i was frozen which is not good. I would say the breakfast was good. i would recommend a sleeping eye mask for those who don’t want to wake up at sunrise!

Overnight stay only. Tired hotel, but did the job for one night. Breakfast was the highlight with the hottest food and plate to match. Staff pleasant but clearly not impressed themselves. For the price it's just about okay.

Having seen the previous reviews, we were unsure what to expect. Yes, parts of the hotel need updating, but we had a lovely big room with a river view. It was clean and tidy, plenty if storage and a beautiful bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast. On the whole we thought it was good value for money and will stay again.

Comfortable stay in a lovely area

Pleasant & friendly staff.
Just a 1 night stop over while working in the area. All hotel staff were very friendly and the service for food and drinks was warm and welcoming. The hotel in general looked clean but a little dated in decor, same in the room. The room was spacious but no light shades and curtain hanging off don't give great impressions. Evening meal was good and nice size portion (even though I'm not one for eating off wooden boards), don't they have plates in Oxford lol. All in all with its lovely location and with a good makeover it would be a lovely hotel. Hopefully will return sometime.

The property is in a very poor state of repair, the carpets are minging and the room cleaning and servicing was almost non existent. The food was good, largely and the bar service was very good. But there is no lift and some very tricky staircases, so not good for anyone with mobility challenges.

We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. I would advise to contact the hotel in advance to request a ground floor room if you have mobility issues. unfortunately on the night you arrived we had a full house and all of the ground floor rooms had already checked in so i really couldn't move you anywhere on the ground floor. We did however upgrade you to a riverview suite with a walk in shower and roll top bath in a part of the building where there was a wider staircase to the room. The room servicing was carried out before you arrived and then once during your two night stay. Apologies, if you felt the room needed more. Glad you enjoyed the food and bar service. Unfortunately this is an old hotel and there is no lift. this information is freely available on Expedia, but we apologize for your inconvenience.

This is a great location for a nice hotel and it is a great pity that this is a shabby and depressing stay. The people tried hard to make the best of it and we were grateful. But the decor is drab, the room was uncomfortable and the bathroom was designed to be hard to clean and so it was grotty. It was expensive for what we got.

Dog friendly and great location!
The hotel is a bit basic but comfortable, you can see they are slowly refurbing the hotel bit by bit. It’s a shame the swimming pool isn’t up and running. I’m it’s hay day it must of been lovely. A great location, the room was clean, the four poster bed was lovely, and the bathroom was fantastic. Needs a lick of paint in places and some new carpets. Both breakfast and dinner was good. The location is the best thing with fantastic walks which our dog loved!!!

+ Svit med stor yta (två stora rum och badrum) + Fantastiskt läge med panoramautsikt över Themsen + Trevlig personal + Mycket god frukostbuffé; även middagen var god - 2 av 6 dagar uteblev städningen helt, övriga dagar bristfällig. När vi anmärkte på städningen fick vi rena handdukar och rena koppar & glas - Rumsstandarden var låg: kallt och varmt vatten i olika kranar, droppande kranar, inget kylskåp - Frukostpersonalen var vänlig, men flertalet verkade oerfarna och passiva. Det tog lång tid när något behövde fyllas på - Parkeringen kostade 4 pund per dygn. Någon alternativ parkering fanns inte i närheten

Comfortable, with good food.
The hotel was very clean and it was a comfortable stay. I could see there was signs of renovations but the main areas and corridors are in desperate need of attention and brings the overall feel of this hotel down. It is somewhere I would book again with the hopes that this is part of a long term vision for the hotel, to be completely renovated. The food was amazing (one of our best meals at a hotel) and staff friendly. Overall the good out weighed the bad 😁

Disappointing room and hotel
Very disappointed in my stay versus the photo that appeared on hotels.com. My room was nothing like the photo and the carpet was dirty and stained, the walls scuffed, the furniture was rough cheap chipboard and it didn’t feel clean. Expected a lot more of the money. Only good things were service at reception and the breakfast.

Possibly the Dirtiest Hotel in the UK
my visit to this hotel was terrible. The hotel was dirty, our room was dirty, no lamp shade, shower waste pipe nearly blocked with human debris, wash basin waste nearly blocked, curtains could not be pulled shut, carpet in the room was dirty and old. The walkways were dirty with carpets worn out. Trays of food left outside doors for 2 days..

Disappointing
I My room was located behind a door which led to a small corridor that said 'Do Not Enter'... they were clearly doing some renovations in the corridors leading to my room, it had a very funky smell of paint mixed with damp. There were bits of rubbish on the floor and it took me a while to find my actual room and I'm pretty sure that the other rooms around mine w not being occupied or used. I was in room 8... thankfully the funky smell in the narrow corridor was not in my room. There were opened wrappers on the bedside table and the furniture was very dated as was the decor. I was out for the evening and planned to do some work when I got back. Was very frustrated to find that the wifi didn't reach to my room at all(!) so I ended up sitting in the darkened pub with a laptop as I needed to be able to work. Not only that but when I came back, the room was cold, the radiator wouldn't work and I went to bed feeling chilly. In the morning, upon opening my curtains (some of which were hanging off the curtain rail), I faced a queue of cars waiting at a traffic light all of whom had a direct view into my room... so those were quickly closed! To be fair, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast were great but the accommodation really did leave a lot to be desired and it would not be a place that I would recommend.

Having paid for a deluxe double room with riverside view I was disappointed that all I could see from my found floor French doors was the back of the fees in the car park, unfortunately it’s was the highlight of my stay, the room was was dark and very dated, 4 of 6 lights in the room didn’t work the carpet was stained and threadbare, the bathroom smelled like damp, the taps didn’t work properly and water ran in the toilet the whole time the bed was 2 singles pushed together with a lump in the middle also 2 single duvets zipped together, I will not be booking again.

Lovely setting next to Shillingford Bridge. Great walk along the riverbank. Very good food and drink. Excellent friendly staff. Room was very spacious. We found bathroom floor quite slippery.

Great place to stay
The staff were outstanding on friendliness helpfulness and professional. Room large quiet, clean and comfey. Dog welcomed ! Brillant walks from door. Food great in evening, wine list had run low and no fruit at breakfast was only down side. Dining room a little run down, bar friendly. Would def return!! Thank you!
