Great historic 1880 Hotel
Very accommodating as we couldn't bring our car on the ferry. Hotel is directly across from Ferry and made it easy to get to.

Historic hotel in great location
The National is a great place to stay. Super location, very friendly and helpful staff, and very historic. The historic part is something you should understand before booking -- the hotel dates from the late 1800s, so the rooms are not like a modern hotel -- they are not as big or luxurious. But they are fine, especially because on Block Island you don't want to spend lots of time in your room anyway. The other possible thing to expect is some noise. The windows are not soundproof, and there are gatherings in the evening below the rooms.

For the age of the hotel, it was very well maintained and very clean. The staff was all very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was very accommodating with storing bags until our checkin time and then the day or departure as well as providing beach towels. There was life music every night in the back patio area. It is loud until 10:00-10:30 but we did not mind it as we heard it from our room and enjoyed it. Great location on the island- amazing food and drinks at the restaurant and bars downstairs. We will be back!

The Hotel is accommodating. The staff is great! Dislikes- Bathroom has no vent , mattress is uncomfortable.

The National Hotel has caring, gracious staff from housekeeping to restaurant servers to management. It is located conveniently and offers complete convenience with its barroom, dining veranda, fireside cocktails in a backyard, stores, and waterfront views.

Staff and service was excellent. Only downside was rooms were a bit small. We stayed in a corner room which was a bit bigger and would highly recommend over the smaller rooms where our friends stayed. Also next time will need a fridge. .

Noisy, expensive but quaint
The ambiance was great. The room was very small but quaint. Shower stall was so small you could not bend to wash your feet. We had a first floor (one flight up) room near the stairs. It was extremely noisy. The live entertainment could be heard until 11 pm and the partying afterwards went on until after midnight. So, there was not a restful night’s sleep during our 2 night stay. Food was also VERY expensive.

Great stay, fabulous location! Absolutely can’t beat the view and location, staff were friendly and helpful, ate all but one of our meals there as well and enjoyed them all! Looking forward to next trip there!

Great early September stay!
Great location and friendly helpful staff. Love the addition of A/C in the rooms. Only downside are the small rooms that are in great need of updating. However, when coming to Block Island, this is a great option.
