Old, no elevator, no microwave oven, no TV, no cable, no pool, homeless people are common sight, bathroom is very old, expensive restaurant, no aircon, not worth for the price paid for stay.

It has a bohemian touch that is charming. The bar and restaurant ambiance are awesome. The furniture could have a bit of a restoration without losing its charm.

Loved the old-fashioned decor. Room not cleaned the first day and for the money no special touches. Most of the staff were great, but one guy at the front desk was indifferent.

Late Victorian era building with a boutique hotel vibe. Our room and bath were spacious. The old building has its quirks. How things work in the room are not as intuitive as in newer hotels, but we found what we were looking for. The common areas like the lobby, bar and restaurant open for breakfast and lunch are unique in a good way. Staff are great. We arrived early. We checked our bags and they were in our room when we got back to the hotel later in the day. There is no elevator, and high ceilings add to the stair count, but the stairs were comfortable.

the condition of furniture is poor. front desk staff is somewhat rude, certainly not helpful. all in all decent stay. location is excellent.

A popular restaurant with the local upwardly mobile, serving good food in a lovely environment & rooms which are pleasantly retro. I did not miss not having a TV in my room but I would have appreciated coffee making facilities for those days when I did not fancy breakfast but did fancy a cuppa before walking around Washington. It is in a quiet & safe area, an easy walk to the centre of town or the Metro. The staff were all friendly & helpful. The menu was good & the food delicious. Great for a tourist trip to Washington DC.

If you want a lift - forget it. Or a mini-bar, or 24/7 room service too. But if you want to stay in a grand house circa 1880, with a lovely period ambience, then this is pretty unique in DC. I love it.

This hotel and its restaurant are quaint and quite good. The property is from the late 1800s and has a lot of charm. The restaurant has a fantastic brunch.

This is an historic property with a wonderful restaurant and bar, cozy reading room with a fireplace, and conveniently located to Dupont Circle and walkable to the national mall/museums. Would stay here again!

Horrible - big party next to me with loud drunks ruining my special trip with my daughter, I’ve called front desk and nothing can be done. I loved my trip here in January and soooooo disappointed with this one. Didn’t realize Tabard Inn was a college spring break motel.

The staff member at check in did not seem to care much about their job, but other front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Very difficult to regulate the temperatures in the room and the water in the shower, but otherwise a good experience. NOTE: not accessible, no elevator.

Charming boutique hotel. Restaurant was great, good food and great customer service from the fromt desk reception/check in, servers, Restaurant team. The room was cozy. Would stay here again.

The property did not have an elevator so you had to carry your luggage up the stairs. For two days, we did not have hot water in the room.

Cozy and Convenient
We loved our stay. We had a double room with private bath and it was very spacious. Large windows let in lots of natural light. Older Inn so no elevator, no TV, no thermostats in the room. Radiator heat was super warm. Enjoyed the restaurant downstairs for two delicious meals.

Great stay. Surprisingly comfy mattress given the age and feel of the Inn. Delightfully quiet and easily walkable. Great place with lots of character!

Odd and nice at the same time
This is one of those reviews that I will struggle with. The staff was amazing. I was even stuck overnight in another city due to weather and they didn't charge me for that evening when I arrived the next day. Big chains would never do that. And had a wonderful cocktail at the bar and a great dinner at the restaurant, which is known for being excellent. The room itself was a bit odd. Very large with a sitting area but very old world, including beds. Tiny tiny bathroom and a walk in closet with no lights. The outer door to hallway was a pocket door, but it did lock. And really dirty carpet in public walkways. What I would say is that I could have hosted my own murder mystery dinner in my room! ha. Again, great service, but just an unusual stay experience.

The Tabard Inn is a JOY.
The Tabard is the most charming and helpful place to stay. The place is lovely and funky; the staff (who are all owners) are helpful and engaged; and the food is delicious.
