The owner of this hotel is absolutely lovely, he was very helpful when we were checking in. He helped us get organized with our parking, which was great because we were able to park right in front, and since it is free parking from 6 pm to 9 am, it worked out perfectly for us. He gave us a map showing us some of the main sights, and recommended that we show up for the Last Post early, which was solid advice because it is busy every night! The location is great, you are a two minute walk from the main square in front of the Flanders Fields museum and the cloth hall. You are really close to the Menin Gate, so we were able to listen to the Last Post. There are a lot of restaurants and bars all along the Menin Road, so you have a lot of selection in that way. The rooms are a bit tired and old, but still comfortable. The dining room is beautiful, and the continental breakfast was really good. Cereals, yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, toast, and you can boil an egg too. Even fresh croissants on the table.
It was a good place to stay after our visit to Passchendaele and Tyne Cot, and if we had had more time the Flanders Fields museum is supposed to be great too.
