Wij zijn zeer hartelijk ontvangen in deze parel van een vakantiewoning. Alles was aanwezig en de ligging was perfect, op enkele meters van de menenpoort. Daarnaast hebben wij ook genoten van de mini VIP rondleiding en de tips om gezellig te gaan dineren. Wij raden the Menin gate house zeker aan!

amazing place
Amazing house right next to the Menin Gate - it was lovely to view from the bed in the main bedroom. More importantly, Ben was an excellent host and gave us some fantastic insights into the history of the city and ceremonies Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

WWI history tour
Absolutely perfect stay in a large, very comfortable house filled with treasures. Fantastic location next to the Menin Gate and walking distance to great restaurants and shops. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Fabulous location in Ypres
Wonderful house overlooking the Menin Gate. Great location for a stay in Ypres with all facilities within walking distance. Ben was a brilliant host with all of his knowledge and even gave us a vip experience of the Menin Gate ceremony. The house was very comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location and property. Located less than a stone throw from the Menin Gate, and the view from the main bedroom of the Gate itself is very impressive. Superbly furnished and the most comfortable bed I've slept in! Loved the focus on the story of the Menin Gate - some of the pictures and artifacts that fill the house are fantastic, and really add to the ambience and history of the area. The host was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable - and attending the evening ceremony with him was an unexpected pleasure and honour. Really enjoyed our stay. The town itself is lovely, the town square packed full of good shops and excellent restaurants (I'd most certainly recommend the Captain Cook restaurant) . If you are looking for a base to visit the WW1 sites and museums, I'd certainly recommend Menin Gate House - the whole visit was first class from start to finish.

A fantastic house right by the magnificent (and very moving) Menin Gate. It is very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The historical information and original artefacts displayed throughout the house set the scene for commemorating all that this beautiful town and it’s people have endured. Ben, the host, was fantastic, informative and couldn’t do enough for us - thank you once again Ben as you helped make our stay very special indeed. The Last Post ceremony is a very emotional experience, they will not be forgotten.

Fabulous location an a wonderful host. The property itself has been furnished and decorated to the core theme of the area, i.e. the WW1 Battlefields, the Military History, and ceremonies of Remembrance of that time. Very comfortable allround.

Our stay was wonderful made all the better by our charming and informative host. His knowledge of the area was excellent and gave us some excellent advice on places ro visit. He alao took us to the Menin Gate evening service which made it even more special.

No better place in Ypres.
Simply amazing, tastefully restored, genuine home within yards of the Menin Gate and city. Care and courtesy of our host was outstanding. We loved it and will return.

Extraordinary house, with historical interest
A fabulous house split into two apartments, with shared access. We stayed in the lower apartment comprising lounge, dining room and kitchen, with access to a beautiful pared down outside terrace with table for breakfast or dinner (Churchill Duplex apartment). On the first floor there were two bedrooms, with the master bedroom at the front having an ensuite bathroom. Fantastic views across to the Menin Gate opposite. The Menin Gate is floodlight at night, so a little light does filter past the sides of the blinds so be aware if you want to have a completely dark bedroom-but what a view! Visiting coaches park opposite but only for a few hours each evening prior to the Last Post, and they are gone straight afterwards. The house is stuffed with artifacts and pictures relating to the Great War and the Menin Gate, so you have your own little museum! A 10 minute walk through the Menin Gate gets you to the centre of Ypres with shops, bars and restaurants. We really liked Ypres, with quality shopping and a very relaxed atmosphere. Obviously, in terms of sightseeing and visiting areas relating to the Great War, you are close to many things. Short term parking outside the house is possible, with free parking 5 minutes up the road, a short walk away. I would highly recommend Menin Gate House, and indeed plan on taking my elderly father to stay there next year for a long weekend.

If your an Aussie or Kiwi this the place to stay. It overlooks the Menin Gate. The owner takes you to the room, he will do anything he can to make the experience better for you. Th room is spacious, easily the best location in Ypres

Historic Location
The apartment was comfortable, clean and had a good ambience, especially with its view of the Menin gate. Ben our host and his son Viktor were charming and accommodating. Ben also arranged for us to have a prime viewing spot of the Last Posr ceremony one evening. Menin gate house has links to the Menin Gate trust and the appartment is filled with pictures and references to the history of the town.

Prime apartment
This must be one of the best (if not the best) locations in Ypres. I have stayed in the city a few times, but I will certainly return here.

Menin Gate view
Excellent property and location with a stunning view of the Menin Gate. Benoit gave a guided tour of the house and its WW1 and Last Post memorabilia. Very comfortable with bonus of rear courtyard. I would definitely recommend this property.

Fantastic apartment style accommodation, with great and knowledgable host. Convenient to WW1 sites and right next door to Menin Gate memorial and last post ceremony. Highly recommend.

Excellent apartment close to the Menin Gate
Visiting one of the most important monuments to the fallen in World War I, it was a treat to be the guest of Benoit, who has devoted himself to the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate, and to ensuring that his guests have the full experience of understanding what the British and Commonwealth Forces did in the Ypres Salient. It was a wonderful place to be with an excellent host.

Beautiful Home Away from Home
Such a memorable stay for our family. The Menin Gate House beautifully merges all the conveniences of a modern home with the historic significance of the house and the area. There is a perfect view of the spectacular Menin Gate from the large windows and the home is tastefully decorated to showcase many historic pieces related to The Last Post. The accommodation was perfect in all respects, clean, quiet, comfortable beds and good wifi. Benoit our host made us feel very welcome and took us over to listen to The Last Post, such a memorable and emotional experience for our whole family. He was able to tell us many details about the history of the Menin Gate and also told us of local historic sites to visit which were appropriate for our young children. We felt so welcomed that we stayed an extra night, our only regret that we couldn't stay longer....hope to be back again someday soon.

Perfect location for exploring WWI Battlefields
We are a family of 4, and the Menin Gate House was perfect for our stay. You couldn't hand pick a better place for proximity to the Menin Gate and the Last Post Ceremony. Nor could you pick a better host, in Benoit. He is very passionate and very knowledgeable about WWI history. His suggested battlefield itineraries were extremely valuable to us.

Amazing location
A great place to stay if your doing any WW1 cemetery and memorial visits. You look out of the lounge window onto the Menin Gate memorial, then stroll just across the road to attend the last post ceremony that happens at 8pm each evening. Apartment was very nice.
