Charl is an excellent host. Always stay here when visiting Oudtshoorn. Great breakfast. Room is clean and comfortable.

Charged twice
The gentleman told me I had not paid at the end our stay although I paid online. He said it had not gone through when I booked on Hotels.com. He said before I left I needed to pay for the room. He showed me that my credit card info was wrong and the a Hotels.com had not collected on my account. I then paid R900 with him on my credit card. The next day I see that the payment had already been paid already on my credit card for R800. Now I need to go and figure out how to get my money back. It is a pain. I am a hold member and have never had this happen when I pay online. This not a nice experience.

Underbara värdar och en härlig frukost. 😀 År på närliggande resturang Black Swan. Var inget vidare service sådär svag dukning. Fick inte det dom beställdes men kom ändå på notan.

Trevligt ställe med bra mottagande av ägaren. Fick bra information och kartor. Rummen trevlig och rena, varm och kall frukost som gjordes på beställning. Bra resturang precis bredvid. Black Swan, värt ett besök. Lite svajigt Wi-fi.

Location - Great spot and convenient to various restaurants. Staff - Very friendly and provided lots of great restaurant recommendations. Room - Clean and very quaint. Very lovely. Bathrooms were large and very clean.

Excellent Stay
Yamkela is my favorite place to stay when I'm in Oudtshoorn. The staff is wonderful and will do whatever they can to accommodate. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Yamkela!~

Hôtel bien placé et propre
Nous ne sommes restés qu'une nuit mais l'établissement est très bien situé dans Oudtshoorn pour la restauration le soir. Notre hôte nous a très bien conseillé dès notre arrivée. La chambre était un peu petite pour 2 adultes et 2 enfants mais très agréable et propre, donnant directement sur le jardin et la piscine

Lovely and homely place to stay in Oudtshoorn
The room was nice and comfortable and the location is convenient. We were only there for 1 night but we were made to feel welcome. There is no wifi in the rooms which you would expect nowadays and the bathroom was a big dark (only one spotlight) but otherwise I can't fault the place. Great breakfast too!

Good spot to stay for local sites
Had a short stay in Oudtshoorn and the Yamkela guesthouse was a great choice. The owners are very nice and offer a great range of options for breakfast (ostrich sausage!). The room was very large with a balcony and a set of table and chairs for each guest (it appeared every room has balcony access). The only reason I didn't give 5 stars on room comfort was that the room I was in had a slanted roof in the bathroom and no windows (although it did have solid blinds over the door, which provided air and light). And I gave 4 stars on neighborhood because there really isn't much around but I think that is more a product of the town than it is the hotel.

A must stay
Wow a very long road trip from Cape Town to Johannesburg and this was one of the only places available within our budget! I can say is one of the best guests houses ever, 5* service, 5* breakfast and the town is beautiful too. Couldn't have asked for more. This is a defiant must!!!

A very comfortable 2 day stay
Yamkela is a very nice place, very clean and organised. We paid a little more and were given room number 9 upstairs. Even though it meant lugging our suitcases up a spiral staircase (no offer of help), it was worth it. The room was very nice. The layout of the bedrooms is a little odd and means that a lot of other people walk past your door to get to their room. In room 9 we had only one couple walking past us, if you are near the car park, it's more like ten. Plus, the downstairs rooms are darker and the rooms that are incorporated in the main house have cars parked in front of them as well. We didn't use the pool, it looked more like a pond, it was so small. The garden was very well kept. Breakfast was an excellent affair. The position of Yamkela is also very good with several restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely use it again but ask to be upstairs.

Welcoming safe haven
Like most places in South Africa security is key! I did feel safe here but the number of gates and locks can take some getting use to. The town itself is a bit intimidating but the guest house was welcoming and well laid out.

Lovely Stay
We stayed just one night and had to leave very early the morning, but everything was perfect. The owner is so friendly and helpful, rooms are beautiful and clean, beds are super comfortable. Great location

Location is good, very close to shops and restaurants. There is plenty to do in Oudtshoorn and the owners are very friendly and helpful in helping to plan your day. Breakfast was excellent.

Nettes kleines Guest House
Das Zimmer ist nicht sehr groß, aber ausreichend. Auch das Bett ist nicht besonders groß (kleines Queen-Size). Das Bad ist groß mit getrennter Toilette. Alles sauber und gepflegt. Aus dem Zimmer gelangt man direkt auf eine überdachte Terrase, die an einen kleinen, aber sehr gepflegten Garten mit Pool grenzt. Das Frühstück ist okay, das Personal freundlich. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich ein sehr gutes Restaurant (Black Swan), was aber nicht teuer ist.Der Aufenthallt hat uns gut gefallen.

Upstairs rooms have low ceilings on an angle - tough to use bathroom as a tall person. Showers are tub style only - no standing up, use shower handle.

Nice hotel close to shops and restaurants
Over het algemeen mooie kamers. Minpunten zijn slechte wifi en schuine dak in de badkamer waardoor het gebruik van het toilet nog wel eens raar verliep. De ruimte in de badkamer had beter ingedeeld kunnen worden. Aardige eigenaar en zijn vrouw. Voor weinig geld ook nog de was laten doen.

The best breakfast on our trip around South Africa
Cozy hotel. The lady at the reseption was very nice and friendly. The room a little small and unfortunatly a little bit unpleasent smell from the bathroom. But nice and clean. The breakfast was an extraordinary experiece. To bad I forgot to take a picture of it. Never had anything like it. My compliments to the chef that made it.

Great location, very friendly staff, nice grounds
The B&B is in a great location and has very friendly staff and well kept grounds. Our only complaint was the level of noise from the room above ours but the owners addressed that for our 2nd night after we mentioned it which was very thoughtful. Would highly recommend this B&B to others

The room was fine, the breakfast not. One of the pleasures of guest houses and B&Bs in South Africa is the individually cooked breakfast. This was missing as the owners were away for an extended holiday. The replacement breakfast was a buffet breakfast in the package hotel opposite - no egg selection other than prepared lukewarm scrambled egg, other 'hot' food was lukewarm, the coffee was the worst I had tasted for many years - on the second day we used the instant coffee from our room. If we had wanted package facilities, we would have booked a package hotel ...

Hele prettige atmosfeer in een drukke straat, waar je overigens niets van merkt. Super service van het echtpaar dat het Guesthouse runt. Zij doen er alles aan om het de gasten naar de zin te maken. Prima stopover plek!

Excellent inn with fabulous hosts
The hotel is very well located; very easy to find when coming into town. The rooms are beautiful with a nice quiet courtyard and pool area. The owners are delightful; they have lots of information about the area and great recommendations on where to go.

Excellent B&B
We had a wonderful stay in Yamkela B&B so much so we booked a further 3 nights. We were visiting family for Chrstmas and New Year and chose Yamkela for the Christmas stay due to the good reviews. Having stayed for 3 nights we decided we would stay again over New Year. The rooms are large and comfortable. There is a swimming pool, sun beds and towels. The B&B is situated on a main road but we were not disturbed by any traffic noise and it is right next door to the best restaurant in Oudtshoorn. The owners are very friendly and hospitable, you really can't go wrong if you stay here.

Truly beautiful hosts and a wonderful stay
We were lucky enough to stay at Yamkela for two nights on our recent trip to South Africa - what a relaxed and welcoming experience we had! Una and Charl, the owners, were so helpful with information about Oudtshoorn, things to do and places to eat. In addition, they cooked a great breakfast (certainly amongst the best we had in our entire month in SA) and made us feel comfortable, secure and welcome in their guesthouse - it was really a cosy couple of days which cured any homesickness we were feeling! The room was very spacious, with a big bathroom and secure private access to the property. The room opened onto a lovely shared courtyard and pool - all in all we thought the value for money was excellent, particularly given the high level of service combined with a homely feel. The location of Yamkela is on one of the main roads in Oudtshoorn, but a few blocks from the 'main part' of town, which we liked. There are at least 2 wonderful restaurants within walking distance (there are a couple of other restaurants which Una recommended also within walking distance, however we only ate at 2 so can only vouch for the quality of those!). We would defineitly recommend Yamkela to friends, family and strangers - you will not be disappointed.
